My first Callaway club was a BB driver that sliced like a weed whacker. Gave it to someone I disliked a lot. I started using the Callaway ads to line Pussy's litter box. Loved my Tight Lies until I had the chance to hit the Steel Heads on Uintah's computer golf range. It just amazes me...I swing the darn club and away the ball goes...even when I know I screwed the swing. Have played golf for so long that I feel guilty or foolish when I start to feel confident about a club but these are sweet. They may not fit everyone but I look forward to pulling them out of the bag. Just can't wait to see what's going to happen next. Pretty to look at and they just feel comfortable (Winn grips). Was going to get the 9 wood but found I hit the 7 and the 9 about 170 yds each but the 5 is good for 200 yds and the 3 for 220 consistantly. Find a computer range and compare...it's the only way to buy clubs.

Hits super straight. Other golfers are upset when I match or beat their "big dogs" with the 3-wood (especially the explosive sound it makes). Unlike the Taylor Made woods I had the feel is consistent between clubs. Also, mis-hits give automatic feed-back (ie arm release, weight transfer). If you don't like these clubs then you'll just have to accept that something is funky with your swing. These clubs (with the steel shaft) are like getting a Mercedes for the price of a Ford.

My friend had a problem with the graphite shafts breaking near the hosel, but Calloway was A+ in repairing them.

Amazing. All steel shafts. These clubs are simply amazing. I've had problems with control with just about every wood known to man. The Steel Head + are for lack of a better description, surgically straight. It was cloudy yesterday, couldn't follow the ball. Had no idea where my balls were landing. But each time, there it was in the middle of the fairway. I almost feel I could play in the dark with these clubs. Great price..169.00 each. I'd pay double for the each club. Heck, it saves me money on lost golf balls.

Customer Service

Edwin Watts sales people would rather stand around the register and talk with each other. The Gold Discount people offer great and candid service. If you're trying to buy blades and you obviously should not be, they let you know.

I tried the Callaway Steelhead at a local shop by me. The pro suggested it, and took it right out of his bag and let me try it. I compared it to the Taylor Made Supersteel and thought that it has much better feel. The Supersteel feels somewhat dull when you hit it, but still gives you a nice ping sound when you hit it. The Callaway feels much better because of its hosel design. This club is also very forgiving. These clubs run for about $160 and are well worth the money, and an incredible value compared to some of the other clubs on the market. I would highly recommmend this club to anyone as it is a great fairway wood.

The 3 and 5 wood are the most solid fairway woods that I have ever hit. I didnt even need to change the shaft, and I still get great performance. The driver is a little tricky, and I usually stay away from it. It definitly has a different feel than the 3 and 5. I am going to try a different driver, but the 3 and 5 are perfect.

This is a great club to have in your bag. I went to my local sports shop and hit a bunch of different clubs. This club stood out from the get go. I went straight from the store to the golf course. On the first hole (par 5) I drove using the club, and hit this club off of the fairway and was on in two. This club is weighted just right for me, I like a smallish head with some weight. It's a real confidence club. If my driver is acting up, I'll simply use the steelhead until my driver calms down. I would defintately recommend this club to anyone of any ability.

I purchased a Callaway Steelhead 2 wood in the May of 2000. I used to have a Taylormade burner. This club impressed after my first use at the driving range. It gave me 30 more yards than my burner. Not only were they far but strait (I used to slice). It lowered my score by 6 strokes. After seeing these results I purchased a Callaway Steelhead 5 Wood. I can hit from anywhere on the course and get good results. I would recomend this club to any golf player who is looking to lose a few strokes. Don't sell your self short. It was worth every penny.

I formerly played with the original Steelhead. The Plus is the same for the most part, but the ball comes off the face much hotter when hit well. I replaced the shaft with a UST proforce gold 75. It is now an even better club.

Customer Service

My original steelhead developed a rattle in the head about a year after I bought it. Even though the club had been discontinued Callaway took it back without argument and replaced it with the new Steelhead Plus
