Where to start?

I am a 7 handicap player that would struggle from time to time with my longer irons. I didn't have to hit them too much because I am so long off the tee's. Still, I felt that part of my game needed vast improvement for me to achieve my goal (scratch golfer). I was in the local golf shop talking to a buddy of mine who works there and I just happened to notice a used 4h Heavenwood had just come in on trade. I proceeded to hit it better than I could ever imagine hitting a long iron (in an electronic range). I was working the ball and controlling the ball flight as well. I could play a stinger (low line drive) or take a nice full swing and get a nice boring ball flight. I took the club to the actual driving range and had the same exact results. I was hitting the 4h around 240-245 on a consistent basis and could amp it up to around 260 if needed but it was a bit of a stretch. I purchased the 2h and 6h to accompany the 4h for a very reasonable price on eBay. Both had RCH 75W firm graphite shafts in them. While I'm not big on stock shafts, I like these and will probably leave them in the clubs. I usually hit my 2h around 255-260 but can max up to 270. I hit my 6h right at 220.

I had used Sonartec MD, Sonartec ss-02, TaylorMade Mid Rescue and other various hybrid's before and liked them ok, but not enough to keep them in the bag. I now only carry a limited number of irons in my bag (5I, 7I, 8I, 9I, PW, UW, SW, and LW) along with the 2h, 4h, and 6h (and of course Driver and Putter) and my confidence in my game improves with every trip to the course and range.

These clubs aren't just for single-digit handicap players either. One of my playing partners is a 14-16 handicap players and he had to go out and purchase a 4h and 6h because he hit mine so well. It has already improved his game tremendously as he uses his 4h off the tee box more than his driver.

If you haven't tried these wonderful clubs, go out and give them a shot. Remember that they are iron replacements and are to be hit like irons (try and take a small divot instead of sweeping them like woods). I think everyone can benefit from having such versatile clubs in their bag.

I bought this from Ebay for 60 bucks with the aldila NV green shaft, tried it on the range for about half hour/30 shots, all were either low slicing screamers or if I tried to correct it, high hooks. WHile taking a lesson had the pro look at my swing and could not figure out why since I was making solid contact, to say the least, trade it for a new cleveland launcher fairway wood 13 degrees and found a club I could hit from the fairway, rough and tee. Am a Callaway fan, but, I think they rushed this club to the market.

Alright, it really hurts me to write this review. I have always been a Callaway fan, and I believe that they are the most forgiving clubs on the market. Unfortunately, this club was dissapointing. i already had a set of Big Bertha 2002 irons, 4-W. I wanted a club that would be playable out of the rough and long off the tee. I went with the firm shaft and I loved the weight of the club when I got it. I took it to the course and was shocked. Everything sliced, which was new for me. I hit my irons, fairway woods and wedges with a draw, only fading my driver. This club was hitting a dead slice that carried just farther than my 4-iron. When I tried to fight the slice, I ended up hitting a low pull that carried about 110 yds, my pitching wedge to 9-iron distance. I really can't put all of the blame on the club, as I most likely have a swing flaw to go along with these problems. I just had hoped for a little more help.

I don't understand why some players have a stigma thing towards hybrids. You can feel like a man hitting a low cutter with an out of control 3-4 iron but less of a player by splashing greens easily from 200 yards? This club is ridiculous easy to hit. Just put a smooth pass on this thing & it just goes high & dead straight. I will never carry a 3 or 4 iron again. Very hot face launches the ball. I usually am a believer in aftermarket shafts but the RCH Firm is just great with my swing. I did hear the steel is kind of crappy. I hit several hybrids at a local demo day & it wasn't even close. A great club to shave strokes from your long game.

I bought this club off ebay for like 90 bucks. The club looks great at adress and feel very good at impact. Not too forgiving off the heel but I shouldn't be hitting it there. Very long off the tee and fairway. Highly recomended.

Great club. Save your score in those tricky shots. Nice medium trajectory and soft landing. Great from the tee, the fairway and the rough, and you can work the ball.

Model Reviewed: 2h RCH Firm, 3h Uniflex

First off, these clubs are overall great. Some people love hybirds, some don't. It took me a while to learn how to hit these clubs. Really need to lift the club to perform an descending blow, not a sweep like a fairway wood. http://www.sonartec.com/page.cfm?content=md_tips is a great website that describes how to use a hybird. The 2h graphite hits long and far, pretty straight. The stock shaft is a bit weak, but I am hitting is decently solid so no need to reshaft yet. The 3h Uniflex shaft is a bit crappy. I don't like the stock shaft it always seems to leak right. Going to reshaft it in a TT DG Lite to see if I can get a more consistant ball flight. The distance is great, in fact too far. I wanted to replace my 3 iron with my 3h but hit the 3h about 15 yards longer than I want it too. Oh well, guess I will have to buy the 4h. I got both my hybirds off ebay quite cheap. Go demo them at a golf store but do yourself a favor and shop ebay. You can save lots of cash this way. 5 stars value, 4 stars overall (due to the shafts).

Customer Service

Callaway golf has the best customer service. Called to replace a lost headcover label, they sent me one for free. Great company.

I think this club is for those who cannot play woods on the fairway and can't get the accuracy from the long iron like me. So the 1H replace my 3wood and 3H replace my 3iron, very happy and satisfy for the result of play, at first can't really address the club (seem a bit funny, doesn't like wood but have to play like iron), once you handle them properly, it's a good club from the fairway or rough... Now mostly 3 on for par5, sometime 2 on for the short par5...never regret to buy this club. High recommended.

I got these clubs to replace my driver. I hit my driver 260, but really wasn't very consistent. With the 4h I can get to about 260 off the tee with a good bounce or two (about 240 carry). If I don't hit it cleanly it, it still goes 220 yards and is reasonably straight. If I really blow it, it still goes straight, and goes about 140 yards. It's an awesome club, but demands that you use it as designed. It really wants to do its own thing, which is move in a straight, precise arc. If you fight that, bad things happen. The 3h is still touch and go. I hit it out of the rough about 240 yards once, but it feels more like a short driver than a rescue club. And given how well the 4h is working, the 3h is redundant. Overall, I'll probably sell the 3h and keep the 4h. Buy them on eBay. I got my 4h for around $105, and the 3H for $81 (shipping included), which are pretty good prices.

I had demo'ed this club against the Ben Hogan CFT Hybrid with the Apex Graphite Shaft, S3 Flex. While I had some of my better hits with the Hogan, I could not get over the fact that if felt bland. To me, this club just felt better when you hit the ball, it was more alive. This is a pricy club, and with the Hogan being priced $20 less it is more appealing to the budget. But $20 is a small price to pay for the extra feeling and not to have buyers remorse. Both clubs were beyond my expectation for distance and trajectory. I feel the Heavenwood offers a bit more forgiveness then the CFT.
