Zero Tolerance Crown Jewel Maxima 360 Drivers

Zero Tolerance Crown Jewel Maxima 360 Drivers

DESCRIPTION

From ZT Golf: This club head is treated with a special Ionic Plasma finish which is manufactured using state of the art technology. The finish gives the head a beautiful all around look. It delivers an extraordinary amount of energy transfer with less backspin and a mid trajectory ball flight with a soft landing resulting more roll. At impact this club produces a clear high pitch sound.

My first impressiom of this club was "Beautiful"! The dark metallic blue painted head was flawless in finish and matched the color of the XLT70 filament wound shaft quite nicely and oozes quality. The club head does not seem overly large at setup, in fact it appears no larger than the CJ Spectra. The main difference is face height with the Maxima being noticeably taller. In my opinion club easily equals or exceeds the overall fit and finish from any OEM. I got the 10* loft with 1* closed on regular flex shaft. My first trip to the range showed this club to be very smooth hitting with adequate feedback. Less than perfect contact lets you know you missed but without the harsh feeling of some drivers. Good swings with center face contact are rewarded with a soft satisfying feel and a very hot and long hit. Forgiveness was average with most mis-hits going high right and ballooning short. Course play validated the range testing results with identical results. Overall I think this club is a great value for the money with the typical Zero Tolerance high quality.

First of all I would like to say that I was somewhat hesitant to get such a big driver considering that I''ve been playing the 975d form 2 years.. I orderd it in 10 degree with 1 degree closed with a xlt regular flex shaft. The club is very pleasing to look at...maybe the best looking club out there. When I took it to the range I had some blocks and was getting the proper height but after playing with it yesterday on the course I can honestly say that it is more forgiving than the 975d and has a nice elevating flight..but doesn''t balloon... some shots seem like they were just floating in the air for quite some time. the feel is very light and solid when hit in the center....The funny thing is it doesn''t look big at all unless you put a 3 wood next to it....so everything is relative.... It is about 10-20 yards longer than my 975d and the shaft is really good...maybe the best I played.I like this club very much cinsudering How finicky I am about drivers...but this club will help you hit further without sacrificing control...you actually get more control. I am very pleased with zt products abd even ordered one for my brother who is a teaching pro and he was killing the ball when we played ..even he seemed surprised and I ordered the crown jewel classic and scorcher for my wife and she also likes these clubs. Overall....Job very well done.

I reviewed this club back in May when they first arrived on the scene. I have alternated between the Maxima 360, 300, Spectra and Titleist 975D at certain times over this period. Most rounds have been played with the Maxima 360.

I reshafted the club about 1 1/2 months ago with the Graphite Design ys 7 XS. This combo seemed to work a bit better that the Apache Micro.

The Maxima 360 is still very forgiving and produces the longest drives I have consistantly hit at any time. It is so easy to feel comfortable and I have no problem on tight drives or hitting it in places I should not be hitting driver.

Needless to say I am a big fan of the ZT products. All of which are quality clubs that produce their intended results.

The Maxima 360 is a top notch component driver that will match up with any OEM or component driver on the market.

Specs: ZT Maxima 9* with a UST Super 47 46" shaft.
Appearence: Zero Tolerance came through again with this club. I love the blue head, with the polished face and sole, very nice looking!
Performance:
This driver is DEEEP, Straight, and Easy to Hit!! The 360 for me was the longest of the 3 different ZT drivers I've tried(Spectra, and Maxima 300. I could swing away unrestricted with no worries of any real nasty slices or hooks, most balls landed and were in the fairway or if not very close to it. Shots off the toe of this baby, lost little distance and went in the direction I was trying to hit them. All in all this driver offers big time performance at a fraction of the other big time drivers prices. Definatly needs to be added to your Demo list if your looking for a new driver!!!!

Having played the Crown Jewel Spectra and Maxima 300, I did not expect a third charm to be so quickly apparent.

The Crown Jewel Maxima 360 is a very special club. It is competing directly for playing time with my Crown Jewel Spectra and has won the battle for bag rights the past 4 rounds.

This club is long and straight. The ball explodes off the face on most shots and is extremely long on close to toe shots. I experienced an almost rebound type feel on the very best of center hits. There was almost no sound on these hits but the ball literally was shooting down the fairway searching for a home far from the tee box.

I have tremendous confidence with this club in any situation. I was really excited about the Spectra when I first started playing it and the Maxima 360 gives me that same excitement. I just want to go out and bang drives on long par fours all day long. I really am not worried about any of the longer holes. These clubs instill confidence to swing away.

As well, each time I have played the Maxima 360, my playing partners are in awe of it's looks, sound and performance.

I am too!!!!

First my stats:
Hcp:14
Driver SS: 100-05 (smooth tempo)
Avg. Driver distance 250.
Usually play fade.
The Club:
8.5* loft with square clubface.
44 in. Bimatrix stiff flex.
Winn XF Weather grip.
SW @ D4

My impressions:
Visual: This may be the most beautiful club I have ever seen. The polished face on the deep blue head matches almost perfectly with the Bimatrix shaft. A number of my friends have said the same thing. The dark blue head and deep face makes the clubhead look less than 360cc.
Feel: The feel at impact is muted. I have a hard time feeling where impact on the club is unless it is severely on off the heel or toe. When you hit it perfectly square you can feel the ball explode off the clubface. Very Rewarding. Sound is equally muted, very surprising for such a large clubhead.
Playabilty: I found that I was pushing the ball to the right quite a bit. I think the combination of the square face and large clubhead made it difficult for me to turn the head over and square it up. It might have also been the head/shaft combination. When I strengthend my grip it went straight. I don't really feel comfortable changing my grip to suit a club. This combo would be great for someone fighting the hooks. Foregiveness was good on toe and heel shots. Trajectory was great, boring with good roll. Distance was a bit shorter than my 9* Spectra, which could be due to the shorter shaft.
I think that this club combination would be great for someone that fights the lefts, but not ideal for my swing. Maybe a 1 or 2* closed face would be better for my swing.

Model Reviewed: Maxima 360 Driver

Had a chance to finally give Zero Tolerance's Maxima 360 a test spin at the driving range today.

But first the yawn inducing necessary background facts:

About me:

Height 5'9"
Weight 195
Age 41
Handicap 21
Swing Speed 95
Current Driver TM 360 Graf Xstiff 8.5*

About the ZT Maxima 360:

Loft 9*
Shaft Grafalloy Prolite 35+
Flex Stiff
Length 45"

Looks: Cosmetically Maxima series takes its coloring cues from the new Mizuno woods. But the 360 departed from the 300 when it came to sole and face treatment. The 300 had a soft "raw" finish with white scoring lines much like Mizuno. While the 360 went with reflective chrome look both in the face and the sole. To be honest I didn't care for the bright chrome treatment in the 360 especially its reflective quality.

Surprisingly the Maxima 360's footprint is much smaller than its 360cc head would suggest. Placed side by side with a Ping TiSi and a Taylor Made 360 the Maxima's top was no bigger than Ping. While it was clearly "smaller" at address than its equal cc sized Taylor Made 360.

The Maxima made up the smaller head size with a deeper face.

Feel: This is an extremely well balanced driver. Unlike the Taylor Made 360 where you are aware of the added size the Maxima feels no different than 300 to 320 cc drivers on the market.

Okay so what were the results? Nothing like I expected to be honest. I was prepared to pass on such uninspiring comments as "solid", "great value" and "nearly as good as the....". But the Maxima surprised me.

First of all the driver has extremely sweet feel when upon impact. Very similar to the much more expensive Mizuno 300s.

Secondly, at least for me, the Maxima 360 performed the complete opposite of some of the reviews I had seen on the driver.

Ball Flight: Low and boring. This trajectory was easily achieved with the ball teed low. Even with the ball teed high the Maxima did not have a ballooning flight. Part credit may go to Grafalloy's high kick point. But I have the exact shaft in a Taylor Made 360 and the Taylor Made produced a much higher flight.

Carry: If the 360 has one weakness then this might be it. For me the 360 did not carry as long as other driver I have hit recently.

Roll: Again contrary to what I had read by some reviewers, I got tremendous roll from the Maxima. Even when I was hitting worn-out range balls. But curiosity got the better of me and out came a recently scuffed Pro V1. Indeed the Pro V1 came off the face hot with a low boring trajectory. When it landed it proceeded to roll and roll all the way to the back net.

Overall distance combining carry and roll the Maxima 360 is up there with the best of them.

But that's not why the Maxima 360 has made a spot in my bag.

Forgiveness: Here is where the Maxima shines. While warming up I hit a lazy drive catching the ball on the toe. To my surprise the 360 produces a slow lazy fade. With any other driver in my hands a toe shot produces an ugly slice. Just to make sure I had indeed hit the ball on the toe I hit several more just like it off the toe. Sure enough never a slice and seldom even a strong fade.

Not that I want to practice mis-hitting the ball I decided to see what would happen with heel shots. Again the Maxima's head worked to minimize the mishits. I was amazed how much the 360 was able to give a poorly hit shot a chance at staying in the fairway. Or at least a chance of not getting too deep into trouble or worse yet OB.

So my take comes down to this. Should the Maxima 360 perform as well on the course as it did on the range I know one Taylor Made driver that maybe looking for a new owner.

Hardly what I was expecting from Zero Tolerance's newest driver. Now if they could just put some sunglasses on that shiny chrome face...............

Performance-Very forgiving can work ball both ways but a bit easier to fade than draw the ball and produces a nice flat penetrating ball flight plenty of roll. This club instils confidence long and accurate with a very solid feeling

Summary-I was going to keep the ZT Spectra in my bag but the Maxima 360 is in my bag if you want a Driver and can get a chance to Demo one give one a try you won't be disappointed

The 360 is the most beautiful driver I've seen (like the Mizuno Forged), especially with the Power 65 shaft. Chrome face, deep metallic finish, just classy in every dimension.

I love the driver's feel, with one exception. Despite the size, there's no adjustment for me at set-up; it's a very natural club to take back and swing. Balance is excellent. The sound (or lack of it) takes some getting used to, but it's pleasant.
My one reservation is that impact seems "hard" rather than explosive.

As for performance, I've been getting straight shots but only averge to below distances. (The eternally tempting combination.) Trajectory is moderate-high. My 3-wood is close to the driver too often (my 3-wood plays in the 200-210 yard range.) I wonder if the shaft might be the issue, but I don't want to lose the straightness I'm enjoying.

Review on the ZT Maxima 360

Facts on me:
Handicap – 12.3
Age – 29
Weight – 185
Height – 5’ 9”
Swing Tendencies – Play the straight ball, but usually can fade the ball on command. Can only hit a draw about 20% of the times I try. When I miss though, it is usually big ugly hooks undoubted caused by the over the top swing or blocks caused by severe lack of timing. Driving is one of the strong parts of my game.
Swing Speed – Average of 107mph, but the last time I checked it varied from 102-118 in 20 swings.

Specs- 9* Maxima 360 with ZT Power 65 Stiff at 45”, 1.5* closed, 198 gram head.

Appearance – OK, so I know I said basically the same thing about the Maxima 300, but this IS the best looking driver I have ever seen on club head color scheme alone. The chrome face just gives the club a look of real class. Some people may not prefer the size of the head, but it isn’t much bigger than my current driver and doesn’t look all that big at address.

Performance – I have had two range sessions, two 18 hole rounds, and one 9 hole round with the Maxima 360. Once again this product proves Zero Tolerance produces high quality products. The Maxima 360 required no adjustment time to produce solid results. Carry distance is the best I have experienced, but the roll was not as hot as some previous ZT products I have tested. Ball flight is high, but not in an extreme manner. If you catch one on the screws just seems to hang in the air forever, however the wind didn’t move it as much as I would have expected. This may be more of a factor of the ball I was playing, but I was impressed nonetheless. The only problem I had was a tendency to hit a fade even if I didn’t mean too. This could explain the soft landings and I’m sure it was my swing that was causing the problem as I noticed it in a head to head comparison with my current driver as well. However, the other driver did seem to land shorter and run more. All in all the distance was similar to my current driver, but I feel as though I can hit my current driver a little further with similar control. Unless I put a really bad swing on it though, the Maxima 360 certainly gave me everything I could want in a driver where roll is not a priority. Had no problem producing intentional fades, but draws were a struggle. If you read the info on me above, this should come as no surprise.

Feeling – For those of you who hate the loud sound of most of the titanium drivers on the market, you’ll love this club. It is almost silent. Center of the face shots provide the feel of swinging through air. However, if you miss the sweet spot, the Maxima 360 will let you know. The feeling is more subdued than many clubs on the market and it took a few misses before I knew on impact where I had hit the club, but it was easy to figure it out after that.

Summary – What can I say? I can’t believe more people don’t play Zero Tolerance products. This is a great performing club. I haven’t decided whether it will replace my current driver(a ZT Spectra), but I don’t think I could go wrong either way. The next time I have to play in wet conditions, this driver will be my first choice for sure and it may become my first choice regardless.

Customer Service

Zero Tolerance has the best customer service that I have ever dealt with. John will go to the extremes to help you enjoy the ZT product line.
