5 stars because you can pick one of these up for around $160.

First Titleist Driver and likely the last driver I will own for quite a while. After a long search (I've been through about 4 drivers in the past 6 months) trying to find the one driver that suits my game the best, the search is finally over. After hittting the 905R I was sold. Perfect boring trajectory, with just the right amount of roll, as opposed to the launch it high no roll drivers the launch monitors say you "need to have". The feel is awsome, not too hard not too soft, but just right, a perfect shot is like swinging through air, and all you hear is the sweet sound of compressing ball and titanium thwack.

Clubhead just looks great at address and the shallower face allows you to hit it from the deck when the need arises. as well as tee the ball less than a foot from the ground!

I play the club at the end of an NV and it is the perfect combo for me. It is good to get back to a square driver after trying the latest bombers. Not that I don't love them, but I lost no distance (typically put it out there 275-290) with this club, and gained worlds of workability and control.

This club requires a smooth swing, trying to jump all over it gets you no more distance and even less control.

Cleveland Launcher 460 Comp - Wow! Just an absolute cannon, hard to miss the fairway. Very little workability, and absolutly no roll.

Cleveland HiBore - Also a cannon, also no the most workable club and almost impossible to slice (or hit a fade when needed) Usually fighting a hook with the shut face.

This driver delivers a penetrating ball flight which allows you to play more loft for control. Plenty of roll depending on tee height and fairway coditions. The V2 shaft keeps the dispersion tight and will not let the ball balloon. Might be the best shaft on the market right now. It's a typical Titleist driver in terms of feel. You hit it solid and you feel nothing and the ball trampolines off the face. I hit em' all, 975D,983K,905T,and the 975J. Mis-hits go very straight compared to other drivers. Heel shots turn into a small cut and toe shots a baby draw. I love the weight, feel and setup. Sets up square. You don't have to be a single digit handicap to enjoy this club. The sweet spot is big, mis-hits don't lose much distance and they still find the fairway. One of the best features is the shallow face. Every driver today has a deep face which requires you to tee it high to hit the sweet spot which is high on the face. The 905R can be teed low for control or you can tee it high and bomb it. Either way you will hit the sweet spot consistently. It reminds me of a bigger version of the 983K but not as draw biased. I consider the 983K one of the best drivers ever made with the correct shaft installed. Try this driver before you buy anything...

Very nice driver, forgiving enough and lots of distance. The ball seems to jump of the clubface like a trampoline. Just swing nice and smooth and you will get the best results with it, great buy!

I recently stepped up to the 905R from the 905T and have to say it was a good decision! This is one great driver! The combination of the Graphite Design YS-6+ shaft and the 460 cc head is an awesome pairing! When struck well the ball just sails off the face with a low penetrating trajectory that keeps rolling down the fairway once the ball hits the ground!

I have been using the 983K for a few years, and I could not wait to get my hands on the later and greater. I have now played 5 rounds with this club and I am going back to the 983K. Why? Both clubs have the Fujikura Speeder shaft, but the 983 just feels more solid to me. In addition, i feel like I can work the ball MUCH better with the 983 than the 905. In addition, I feel like the weighting of the 983 inspires confidence, and the 905 feels more "hollow" than solid in my hands. When I get a hold of it, maybe I get a few extra yards from the 905, but that is mostly do the the lower ball flight than the 983. Just my humble opinion.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 905R 9.5 deg Speeder 757

Bought this club on eBay at a very reasonable price and and I feel like Lassie coming home!

It is so good to have a Titleist driver back in the bag.

I had great success with a 983K (Grafalloy Prolite Red) and 905T (Grafalloy Blue) in the past, but in recent years have been sucked in by the hype and magazines reviews and have chopped and changed for every Taylormade, Callaway, Ping and Nike driver out there in the search for a few more yards. Some of these were good clubs, notably TM R5 TP and the Ping G5. They gave a few more yards, but I rarely hit a fairway.

The 905R with the Speeder 757 stiff shaft is straight and very solid. It does not give any more distance than anything else out there (and I have not hit any 350+ like many reviewers on this site), but it is feels great and you can really go at the ball. There is no substitute for QUALITY.

It is true what they say - you will always go back to Titleist.

Following on from this successful reversion to a Titlesit driver I have looked at the new 695CB irons with a view to replacing my TM TP irons (very good irons). The 695CB's feel heavy, solid and look to be very well made.

If you are a solid striker of the ball and want a good, no nonsense, gimmick free driver then look no further.

The new 907D series is just out so there will be great discounts on the 905R range.

PS. I was horrified to see Ernie Els move from Titlesit to Callaway. He was the perfect ambassador for Titleist equipment

Decided to step up to the 4600cc clubhead and have used the 983E the past two years, so was inclined to go with Titleist again. But I tried several other clubs before buying the 905R, including the Ping G5 and the Nike Sasquatch. I just like the feel of the Titleist, perhaps because I'm used to it.

Played with the 905R for the first time this past weekend. I am 6'5" tall and drive the ball about 280, getting out to 300 on occasion. On my first tee shot on a course, I hit what has to be one of the best drives of my life. 550 yard par five and I had 195 to the green, from the fairway for my second shot. This head and shaft combination really feel great. I have incredible confidence with this club. Even my misses were more than acceptable. Glad I made the switch.

Purchased it on ebay for $200, ioncluding shipping, which seemed to be the going rate. I highly recommend this club - great feel, incredible distance over smaller clubheads and lots of forgiveness.

This driver is simply amazing. It may be about 10 yards shorter then some of the other big brand names, but this is a driver you can depend on. It is very accurate, and you can work the ball easily. With its square address and classic pear shape, it provides confidence when you step up to the ball. I reccomend that you find a shaft that fits your swing. "Fairways and greens" they say. Well with this driver, You will definitley have more success with the first part of that saying. A+ driver
