i notice most of you are plus 300 hitters aha. im not going to lie to you i dont own this club and have only tried it a bit. i really like the feel it has. i currently have a callaway great big bertha 2 with an extra stiff shaft not that i need it i bought this driver off a friend and its completley wrong for me. my swing speed is about 95-100 mph as some have said on here this club will not magically give you the wing youve always wanted although it will at least give you the confidence you need to work on your swing. if you want to hit it plus 300 yards like apparently everyone else on here does get lessons and get serious about the game the club is very good though as well try it.

I have now been using this driver for the entire summer after my purchase in March. I previously owned a Taylor Made 360 and figured it was time for an upgrade. I had been searching for the perfect driver for over two years before I finally decided on this Titleist and i have no regrets. I have always loved the Titleist drivers because of there exceptioal feel but have found that they lack distance compared to other companies on the market and If you are not playing some pretty good golf consistancy can be a problem with them. The 905R, the first oversized driver released by Titleist @ 460 CC, is a different story. Although it may not be the very longest driver it is certainly close and when you combine that with the beautiful look at address it just breeds confidence. My accuracy off the tee has greatly improved with this driver, it is very stable and solid on mis-hits. I went with the heavier Fujikura Speeder (Stiff) shaft because I felt it gave the driver more balance but Titleist offers a shaft suitable for everybody. Anyway, I would highly recommend this driver; it is long, straight, and is the best looking driver at address in my opinion.

This club is very forgiving and workable at the same time. Easy to draw and fade with the proper setup. I had the club made for me based on a launch monitor and I must say that I would not change a thing. I have a swing speed of 110 on average and my pro said that I needed a shaft between S to X to fit my speed determined by the manufacture. I chose Graphite Design because a patient of mine is a rep on the Nationwide Tour. I gave the information of the launch monitor to the Tour rep and he fit me with a GD YS-7+ SX model. This shaft is ideal for my swing. I have hit several drives in the 325yd range after just 1 round of play. The consistency is much better than my previous SMT 455 DB with a NV shaft stiff. However, I have hit drives of 350+ with the SMT, but the left to right consistency is not what I wanted. I feel much more comfortable with the 905R and know that I will be more accurate in the long run. I must say that all of my drives are not over 300, but even if I miss they are 285+ and off to the left or right only 20-30 yards on average. I can live with that every once in a while. It is not the arrow but the Indian that messes up at times. I.E. trying to kill the ball gets me in trouble.

The only piece of advice I can give with any club is to swing the club with an amount of energy that you can control. Any driver with the improper amount of ballance and tempo will give you undesirable results. I don't care who are with any club, it is just a rule.

Anyway the 905R is for real.

I have never been a big Titleist fan...but this driver is pretty good. I demoed this for a month before I got my FT-3. Its a nice club, but doesnt give you the same distance as some of the other drivers out there. I have about a 105mph swing speed and got the ys6 siff shaft and it was good, and consistent ball flight. I only hit this about 260-270 on a regular swing. But if wanted to really crank it, i wouldnt hit it too far (about 290), i also found that the face seems to line up a bit open at address, and i would occaisonaly slice the ball into other fairways. Overall I would rate this club an 8 out of 10. Distance was about 15-20 yards shorter than the fusion ft-3, and the accuracy was fine as long as you set it up correctly.

First let me say that it is a shame that so many people would come here under the premise of writing a review only to make bizarre claims of "monster drives" and the mysterious disappearance of a slice or the miraculous shaving of strokes simply from a new club purchase. I am quite sure that most people that read these reviews are looking for guidance either positive or negative in order to help in the decision making process...

Let me assure you that no golf club is going to improve your game or make you longer off the tee!!

With that said, here is an honest assessment/review of the Titleist 905 R:

I recently switched from the 983k (9.5 deg and a stiff Speeder shaft) to the 905r with the same specs. The 905r did not add 20 yards to my "average drive" (only swing mechanics and faster club head speed can do that); it did not teach me to hit a draw all of a sudden!

What it does do is offer me the same Titleist quality, a similar visual at address (The club does not seem as bulky like other large drivers) and a larger more forgiving club head than the “better player” 983 k. There is more of a functional hitting area over a larger portion of the face than older models offering better results than before should you not “hit it on the screws”! The price is a little higher than I would like, but Titleist in my opinion is the best Driver/Fairway wood company out there.

Bottom line, if you always wanted to play a Titleist driver but were afraid or intimidated by the reputation, this is your chance to give it a try! One thing I would agree with on some of the other reviews is to get properly fitted including as the shaft stiffness and loft that works for the guy next to you at the range may not produce the best results for you!

Good Luck!

Model Reviewed: Titleist 905R 9.5 w/ UST V2 77g Stiff

Having played both 905S and R, I found they to be quite similar, except the R is a lot more forgiving and longer. :)

This UST shaft is definitely blending well with the R head. The shot dispersion is tight. Ball seems to jump off the club face and stays on air longer. Compared to my current TM 425 with Diamana Blue Board Stiff shaft, 905R with UST wins by 20 yards. Do try with other shafts and find one for your game.

FYI, my swing speed is 104. Driver Distance 250-270.

This driver is awesome.
Ive had it 2 days and immediately got on with it. I am 16 years old and a 6 handicap and yesterday had a drive measured at 320 yards which is far more than my old taylormade gave me!! Gives a satisfying noise also!
a great driver
but be careful when chosing your shaft as it makes a big difference!
i tried the proforce and the aldila and in the end opted for the aldila in stiff flex!
a real cracker but pricey!

Wow! i finally retired my 16 yr old Taylor Burner for some new technology. The 905r w/the heavier Speeder shaft was perfect for me! I played 3 rounds at Eagle Ridge w/ this club brand new and had no fear of missed fairways. Best money i ever spent on golf clubs.
