Titleist 983K Titanium Drivers

Titleist 983K Titanium Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The 983K driver features a 365cc full pear profile. The larger head size compared to the 983E, produces a moderate launch angle and higher moment of inertia for playability. The slightly heel-biased internal weighting and deeper CG produce a moderate spin rate and an easy-to-square face. The result is a highly playable driver with an ideal initial trajectory, and long downrange flight.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 983K 9.5* LH w/ Aldila NV S-flex shaft

I have been pretty much a Taylor Made wood player for the last 5 years. When I split the club face on my 300Ti early last summer, I brought it to Taylor Made's attention. The representative indicated that they would not replace it because I didn't have proof of purchase. Come on, a pretty lame excuse if you ask me...piss poor customer service is what it is. I'll never buy another Taylor Made product again. As such I decided to try a few other drivers throughout the latter part of last summer. I tried a 10* Callaway GBB II with a Grafalloy Blue Pro Launch S-Flex shaft and a Titleist 983K with a Aldila NV S-Flex shaft. Both were very good drivers, however the 983K worked better for me. Unlike the TM 300 Ti and Callaway GBB II drivers, the 983K does not have closed club face... it sets up square to the target. Distance wise both drivers have some pop. Howver, the Titleist for me was a bit longer than the Callaway. From a launch angle perspective, I was able to launch it better with the 983K. I believe this may be attributed to the 983K's narrower club face (GBB II's face is quite high). In conclusion this driver is the real McCoy.

Customer Service

Hope its better than TM's.

I have owned a 983k for about 6 months, i bought it without testing any other driver, i knew this was the club for me. For 6 months i have been happy with the club, my only concern arose after i read the reviews on this site. Doubt began to appear upon reading about golfers who average 10, 15 and 20 shots worse than i claiming to scream out mind boggling, ear-splitting Tigeresque monsters from their mighty cannons, i began to wonder if there really was a club out there that performed this miracle. So today i went to the range with two friends, both pros and also 983 users, (i play off 4)and we tested just about every top brand of driver for 3 hours. We all agreed, the 983k was the best for us, no other club came close to it for workabilty control and feel, and they are the most important factors. As for length, well, there wasnt a whole lot of difference, all brands averaged about the same, maybe 10 yards between them. But of all the shots hit pure the 983 was longest, and of all the shots hit impure it was also the shortest. That tells a significant story. I would not say low handicappers only, morelike only low handicappers will truly get the best from this club. As my friend said "its a blade players driver" Must admit, i didnt see any 18 'cappers booming 300 yarders out there, maybe fantasyland is closed on Mondays.

Many, didnt like most, found them big ugly and crude, but was impressed with the Launcher, long, forgiving, nice at set up, very consistant, its best isnt much different from its worst, which will appeal to many players. But if you want total control grab a titliest.

Model Reviewed: 983K w/ Aldila NV Stiff

Went back to the Titleist driver after tinkering with the Launcher 400. Had NV 65 shaft on both. Feel wise, no doubt the 983K is better. Launcher was a tad bit longer but 983K allows me to work the ball better from right to left. Something I could never do with the Launcher. I also have my roommates R7 w/ an Aldila NV shaft. I can crack the ball a tad bit further but it just feels like crap. I am a feel player and I would rather sacrifice a lil bit of distance for a better feel.... 983 obsolete soon. Looks like 905's for 05 are coming soon.

Good experience in the past. Roger Dunn 90 day trial is awesome.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 983k 9.5 YS-6 stiff

I currently own two drivers. Titleist 983k and Callaway GBBII 415. Both have YS-6 stiff shafts. I love them both. I use 983k if it is windy because it cuts through the wind very well. It is easy to draw the ball too. I use GBBII when I'm playing a tight course because it is straighter and somehow more forgiving. It is a so so driver in the wind though. Towards the end of the flight, the ball looses its speed and the wind picks the ball to the left or to the right. Even though carry distance is more or less the same for both drivers, I'm getting more roll with 983k. Nothing beats the sound and feel of the Titleist drivers. Its a persimmon like crack when hit in the middle. Both top drivers. I also used a Launcher for a couple of rounds. Very good driver. But my favorite is 983k. The sound, feel and ballflight is awesome. TM, Titleist, Ping, Callaway, Cleveland all produce good drivers. In the end it is all personal preferrence. I am sure an OEM is gonna come up with another stick that is gonna catch my attention. But the shaft on it is gonna remain the same: YS-6.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 983K 9.5 deg

I have this driver with YS-6 stiff shaft. It's proven to be a very consistent shaft for me on other drivers. However, for reason, I can't seem to get a consistent hit with the K. Frankly, it feels dead even on solid hits. This is not the case with my 980F 15 degree also with the YS-6 shaft. It's probably me. The 365cc head looks very large and a miss with this club snaps left. The 983E 9.5 deg YS-6 shaft is a lot more consistent and feels solid (although the ball flight is lower). I've recently started using a Cobra SS350 Tour 9.5 deg with YS-6.1 stiff shaft. The smaller head and square face turns out to be a better setup for me. I'm about 20 yards longer with the Cobra and a lot more consistent.

had beeen playing new Cleveland comp 460, 8.5 / NV-75. (great club) but head size just seemed a little big for my taste. got K brand new for 249.00, feel of the k words can not subscribe. ball flight is great. carry is long as long if not as the 460. plus I can shape shots a bit better with the k. still say 90% of it is in the shaft. NV-75 rocks the little extra weight over the 65 really does let you feel club head better in back swing and follow through.

Used it on the range today after FedEx delivered it. Loved the extra distance from the fairway roll. The shots I was hitting had nice draw to them. Consistently rolled them 280-300 yards after holding back on the swing for the first 1/2 bucket. Can't wait to see the results on a fairway.

Customer Service

Had to win a 2nd ebay auction for this club. First auction Dallas Golf didn't have the club. First they indicated a FedEx package was shipped and held to that story for 2 days, then later came clean on that the item was a duplicate auction and they didn't send it. They initially charged my credit card and later reversed the charges. The 2nd auction cost $ 15 more for product, but there was no issues w/ progolfdeals. I'm sure someone is happy with Dallas Golf, but not me and as for this experience, well, they really would have to be the only vendor offering any club I'd want to buy before I'd go thru that again !

I purchased this driver in November 2003 and have played it since that time. The slight draw bias is great if you like to play a cut, which is my predomiant shot pattern. IF you like to draw the ball this club might not work as well. I find that when I hit a cut with this club the bias gives me a staight to slight fade, which is just what I'm looking for. In my converstations with several golfers that have tried this club, the guys that hook the ball have not been very happy, the guys that play a slight cut an just jump all over this club and have a great time. It's just the opposite of what you might think. The draw bias reduces the chances of over cutting the shot or the high weak shot that loses distance. If you like to cut the ball, this club will allow you to swing full out and not lose it left. I've got the 9.5 degree loft and the standard Speeder shaft with an S-flex. I really like the classic look and the club looks very easy to hit. The feeling is really solid and the sound is very deep and satisfying rather than the tin sound common to so many Titanium drivers. I have much more confidence in this club than my 3-wood. I like this club so much that I've been tempted to try the 983E, but I'm more than a little worried about trying any other clubs while this one is working so well and for so long.

Just purchased the 983K to replace my 975J. Club is easily 10-15 yds longer than the J driver. I like a small club head which is why i liked the J (315 cc), but at 365 cc the K driver offers me a much smaller club head than most on the market as well as longer. I love it. I play a grafalloy prolite stiff shaft. First round I played with it I hit 11 out of 14 fairways, not bad for the first 14 swings on course. Hope you like as well.
