983E/K
I tried the 983E/K, taylormade 540/580, and the king cobra 380. I currently have the 975J and D both with 9.5 degree loft. I found the 983E is a superior club to all of the above. It's a very solid club I found it easy to control the ball trajectory. I found the ball came off the club too quick on the other clubs. The sweet spot on this club is huge compared to my old 975 J and D. I was custom fitted by the titleist pro's and settled with the 8.5 degree 983E with a fujikura stiff. If you are considering a new driver, I would highly recommend getting properly fitted. |

Slowly moved up in size and technology over the past ten years from my staff persimmon driver, to a Lynx Parallax “Boom Boom” driver to a 975D a few years ago. I am generally long off the tee, but hey, long and straight is a good thing, so I splurged this past weekend and bought a 983K. Played with it yesterday for the first time in an outing, and won the long drive with a wind aided 315 yard shot. Looks and feels (but doesn't sound) like my old 975D (same red Grafaloy ProLite stiff shaft). Very workable and the sweet spot is huge. Hard to miss, and extremely long. If you like your D, you will love a K. I did try the E, but had better results with the K. If Els and Michelson use it, figured it was good enough for me. I've played with the 975J since it came out and decided to try the 983K. I have to say that although I seem to get about 20 yds. more from the K, there's a huge difference in overall feel between the two. To me, the J feels way better with more feedback on contact. Sound is different as well. The K is louder than the J almost like the Ping drivers (for which I've never cared for). Bottomline, the jury is still out for the K. Hit the K first before plunking down your hard earned dollars. |

I went to my local golf store today and was looking at trying out a Callaway Great Big Bertha II and Titleist 983K. I demoed the 983K with the Fujikura S-flex shaft and 9.5 degrees of loft. I demoed the Callaway GBBII with the stock stiff flex shaft and it had 9 degrees of loft. I discoverd that both of these drivers were extremely close in distance off the tee. The Titleist though had to be swung significantly harder to get it to go straight because the stiff Fujikura was stiffer than the stiff Callaway shaft. The 983K gives a very solid feel upon impact and is fun to crank a drive with. I chose the 983k over the Callaway GBBII becuase I tended to hook the Callaway because of the weaker shaft. Both are great drivers though. I now have the 983 on layaway at the store and will hopefully pick it up soon. Similar Products Used: Callaway GBBII |

I've now played a full round with this driver and it is a very solid club. After playing a cleveland Launcher 330 w/YS-7 shaft getting adjusted to the 983K's head took a few holes, the ball seems to come off the 983K's face very hot.My ball flight is a slight fade but with driver the fade has turned to a slight draw.I'm very happy with this driver so far and really really like the Speeder shaft i ordered with it even though i almost put another YS-7 in it (glad i didn't).... Compared with the classic 975d, I'd say the 983k feels like a "cavity-back" while the d is a true MB. The sweet spot of the 983k is no doubt larger than that of the 975d. And yes, it is longer than the 975d. But for die-hard 975 fans, the 983k lacks the sweet and solid feel of the 975d or 975j on impact. With the 975d, you know you kill the ball as soon as you hit it. With the k you have to see the flight to know it is a well struck drive. Nontheless, the 983k is a very well crafted club. Despite the 365cc size, the club swings not much heavier than the 975d. But the thinner Ti shell would probably make cave-ins more likely to occur pounding the plastic range balls. If you like the big 975lfe, the 983k is a great leap forward in club design. If you love the solid feel of 975d and j, you'd better test-drive the k before paying tax to Titleist again. Similar Products Used: 975d, 975j, 975lfe |

Great piece from Titleist again. Best driver that I have used. Its definately easier to use than 975D. Strongly urged all users of 975D to change to this Driver for the technology update & distance with less effort. Customer Service Good Similar Products Used: 975D. |

983K 9.5 GD YS-7
While the New 983 Series Drivers from Titleist aren't a monster size leap from the offerings a year ago, they do improve upon the classic Titleist Driver designs dating back to the 975D. Faces offer a larger "hot" area, spin is reduced somewhat etc. I found the K model with the YS-7 ( Custom order) to be very easy for me to hit straight, and even work it a little when I need to. Very confidence inspiring after hitting a few with it. As with ANY driver, getting the "right" shaft is critical to getting the most of todays drivers, find the right setup for you and it can in fact be a little "Magic". Customer Service Haven't really used, do I can't comment. Similar Products Used: All Titleist Drivers since the 975D, Mizuno 300S, Ping TiSi, Taylor Made 300/500 series. |

Nice club, longer than my LFE (5-10 yards), but not as consistent. Certainly not worth the extra scratch. And a side note, all of you guys who are now striping it 290 down the middle, maybe you can call Tiger and give him some pointers. Similar Products Used: 974 lFE |
