Certainly the longest driver I have ever hit ! I am just using the stock stiff shaft in it and the ball explodes off the face. Check ball speeds against the Nike 400 and Taylor Made 540 before buying it ....speed jumped up by almost 10 mph !! Nice job Titleist !!!! Best driver I've had to date. Last driver was a 975j 10.5 deg. but the 983K with 9.5 deg launches about the same trajectory. YS6 stiff shaft is perfect for my level with moderate swing speed. This driver gave me an extra 15 yards. The large head doesn't look so large anymore. It is perfect. I wouldn't use any other driver. |

Titleist DCI 762
I am a mid to high 80's player with a fairly consistent swing; I will put two to three bad swings on the ball during a round and then hope to make it up on chipping and putting. I was hoping to move away from my Ping Eye 2's of 17 years to more of a "player's" club with some amount of foregiveness. I purchased the 762's with Rifle 6.0. While these clubs are truly "butter" when struck well, I was penalized for slight mis-hits in terms of distance and accuracy. I am clearly not ready for this club and I would caution those without extremely consitent swings (from all lies, mind you)to really test these out before buying. The flat driving range is probably not your best gauge, hit some balls from all sorts of uneven lies. That's where you might find the distance penalty. Back to my Pings. Best Investment I've made this year.My drives are about 15 to 25 yards longer. This club is more forgiving than the 975j model. The classic sound of titleist driver is a plus. the other competitors just sound like a cannon center hit or mis-hit a big turn off. Best driver I have ever hit. Have speeder stiff shaft at 8.5 degrees. Recently entered RE/MAX long drive contest and hit 410 and 394 with this club. Out hit many of the competitors who were using 50-52in drivers. I was by far the longest hitter with a standard length driver. On a typical day on the course I hit anywhere from 300-330 with this club, almost 10% longer then my previous Callaway Titanium. Great club, great forgiveness, and would recommend it to anybody looking for extra distance and accuracy. Customer Service None. Similar Products Used: Taylor Made 3 series, Callaway, Bang Drivers |

Bought the 983K 8.5 with the Graffalloy Prolite stiff. Previously used the 975J 9.5 with the Prolite. Have now played a dozen rounds with this club. It is outstanding! On square hits the distance is 10 to 15 yards longer than the J, and I find it is more accurate. It took me a couple of rounds to get used to the larger size. I need a longer tee to get the maximum performance from this club. I draw the ball normally, and my mis-hits tend to come from overswinging, which result in low, screaming hooks with this club. Mis-hits are not rewarded, so I think that this club is better in the hands of mid to low handicappers. Having said that, I have played less forgiving drivers than this one. Find the right shaft for your swing and I think you will be well pleased with this club. Customer Service Previous experience with Titleist has been quite good, so long as I worked through a pro they deal with. Titleist 983K 9.5 Grafalloy Prolite Stiff
This driver is freakin' awesome!!! I can't think of any better way to start off this review. My golfing season started off by looking for a new driver. Last season I was hitting a Callaway VFT 9 degree (Proforce 65 Gold stiff). I could not find any consistency or confidence with this club. March 2003 I went to a demo day and tested most of the latest drivers (Callaway, Titleist, Cobra, Taylor Made, Cleveland, and Ping). My final two choices came down to Cobra 427 9 deg (UST Proforce 60 stiff) and the Titleist 983K 9.5 deg (Grafalloy Prolite stiff). I hit both about the same. I settled on the Cobra because it was 100 bucks cheaper. Once I got home with the club, it was like night and day. I got home with the club and was only hitting it about 220 with a huge slice (normal yardage is around 280--straight). The shaft of the Cobra felt way too whippy and soft (I guess I did not notice at the demo day). After a month of hitting huge slices, I sold the club for $200. I went a bought the 983K 9.5 deg (Grafalloy Prolite Stiff). I have had this club for a couple of weeks now and definitely made the right decision. The Grafalloy shaft feels much more firm. Seems like everyone is going with the Speeder shaft, but I would highly recommend trying the Grafalloy Prolite. Last week at a driving range (rained earlier in the day) I was hitting long and straight -- carrying the ball 250 yds. This past Saturday I played 18 holes and did not miss a fairway. I haven't done that in a very long time. If you are considering a new driver, you gotta try this one out. I love this club!!! An absolute cannon. I am not a long hitter, and until now have been an extremely average driver off the tee. I used the D, then the J, and I demoed the club at my course, and ripped off two straight 300+ drives on a long 460 yard p4 and a 550+ Par 5 into a slight breeze. I am thoroughly convinced this is one of the greatest drivers ever made, and I walked off the 18th green, into the pro-shop and immediately puchased one for myself with the Grafalloy Pro Lite shaft. I missed two fairways all day, and that was by a matter of 10 yards. Titleist has gone platinum with this baby. Similar Products Used: 975D and J |

Played the 975 D when it came out, played the J when it arrived, Each one overwhelmingly great.K is for Killer, you cant miss the fairway with this baby. If you like Titleist woods dont miss this one. I optioned for the Grafalloy, for its proven success, the speeder sounds good , but its not the true speeder that most think there getting. Dont take my word for it go test drive one now at your pro shop. Titleist will have to break the rules to top the K. Very easy club to hit, give's you extreme calmness on the tee, knowing your goning to be in the fairway or close to it. Oh and way down the fairway. Similar Products Used: 975D, 975J, 975 LFE |

I tried or played the 975D, J, VS, FE. This one is the best of them all. Very easy to square the face (I checked the tee marks on the sole: I never squared such a high percentage). The Grafalloy red shaft is great. I did not find that it hit higher than the J, as I expected because of teh larger size. If anything it hit a little lower, althogh it could be also becasue of the shaft. Distance was great primarely becasue of the extra roll. A lot of roll on a straight shot is a good thing! I do not think that I carried the ball any farther than usual though. Highly reccomended. Similar Products Used: all of them (It beats them all) |
