Titleist 983K Titanium Drivers

Titleist 983K Titanium Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The 983K driver features a 365cc full pear profile. The larger head size compared to the 983E, produces a moderate launch angle and higher moment of inertia for playability. The slightly heel-biased internal weighting and deeper CG produce a moderate spin rate and an easy-to-square face. The result is a highly playable driver with an ideal initial trajectory, and long downrange flight.

I bought a 9.5 degrees loft 983K driver with Fujikura speeder shaft. All I could say is IT'S DA BOMB!!! Some people might tell you if your swing speed is not fast enough, Speeder shaft may not suit you. It's true that you might lose a bit of distance but stiffer shaft offers you more control and accuracy.

This is one hell of a DRIVER. I have played 4 rounds with this club and have broken 90 twice. I hit about half the number of fairways and the other half is just off the fairway. One slice in 72 holes. It's all about the shaft! If you find the right shaft that suits your swing you will hit it. Try it! You can always trade it back in.

I'm a 9-10 hdcp with about a 100 mph swing speed and good, but not great distance. I bought the 983K 9.5 degree with a stiff YS6 shaft. I tried all of the shafts and I can't emphasize enough that the RIGHT SHAFT FOR YOUR SWING is the key. The Speeder is about 15% heavier than the other shafts offered and it is very noticeable. The kickpoint was too high for me and I couldn't get it in the air. I hit the YS6 a little higher than I would have liked at first, but adjusted the teeing heighth and am doing fine now. I have always loved the Titleist feel at impact - not metallic, not clunky, just solid. This is a great club, but shop around as it's an investment and don't be afraid to demo all of the shafts and even order a custom shaft if there is one your pro thinks would work better for your swing.

I bought this at my own club and got a good deal - 10% less thah Edwin Watts, Golfsmith, etc.

Put a stiff grafalloy blue into this and it is awesome. Never miss a fairway, hit it further than anything else and with bad swings it still stays straight and flies.

I went back to my old Warbird after spraying it long but often wide with my TM320. Thought I should give some of the new technology another chance. Tried my spec club on a demo day and hit it well, but the one I bought hits it way too high for me. Its only about 10 yards longer than my trusty old 9 degree steel Warbird, and about 10 yards shorter than my old TM320. Maybe the shaft doesn't suit me or the club is faulty but I'm looking to sell this club and try either the TP510 or GBBII. Not impressed at all. The people here who say they hit it 300+ and hit every fairway should be on the tour. I'm a solid 4 handicap, and have gone from hitting about 50 - 60% of fairways to about 10 - 20% with this club and often VERY wide, seeing parts of the course I never imagined it was possible to get to. The club is not bad value compared to other makes but this one just doesn't suit me I guess.

Took ages to finally become available in the UK, and in very limited supply.

Model Reviewed: 983K 8.5 757 Speeder

I am a 10 index now. Game has improved this past year. Let me tell you something. The last review said the R510 TP is a better stick. Well i reshafted the stock speeder with the 757 speeder and let me tell you this thing launches the ball. My swing speed is 109 on avg and I hit this thing like consistently 280+. yesterday i hit a ball on teh far heel and it flew 270....thats a hot face!!! This is by far the most forgiving, the hottest face, and the best profile of any driver i have tried. The open face allows me to work the ball better. This year i went through 3 drivers. THe r580 grafalloy blue was a good driver but looked horrible at address and couldnt get used to the hollow feeling. Its long but not for me. The 400 Launcher with grafalloy blue was an awesome stick however the 2 deg or so closed face kept generating draws/hooks on hard swings. THe titleist is not only longer than both but it holds its line much better. A little more expensive than the other two but its well worth it. I wont be changing drivers til titleist comes out with a new one. If you're swining 100mph+ i think this is the driver for you.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 983K YS-6 Stiff

I went to a luanch monitor to find out what shaft/loft combination would give me the optimal launch angle. They suggested 9.5 with a YS-6 stiff shaft. I hit this club very high and straight. My fairways hit have improved by 20% since I began using the 983. I'm not sure I am at the optimal launch angle, because even on firm fairways, the ball doesn't roll In spite of this, I am getting about the same distance on a firm fairway as my previous driver (Callaway VFT). When the fairways are so soft that drives plug, I am still getting the distance that I got with my old driver on firm fairways. I also purchased the new TaylorMade R510TP..It's even better than this! I suggest getting fit on a launch monitor. This club will seem like a totally different club with different shafts.

I got the 983K 9.5 LOFT with a YS6 S IN March. Nice club but the ball flight with the YS6 hit it too high. I dont care for the titleist speeder much, and the 4560 is very similar to the YS6. Well the shaft that really works for me is the new Aldila green NV proto 65 S. I put one in the 983K at the depth of 1.75 inches. What an upgrade. This club is so good with the GREEN shaft for distance and direction, the only other club that Ive hit better overall is a 510TP with the same green shaft.

Titleist has done it again with this club. I have used the 975D, 975J, and now the 983K, all in 9.5 degree loft. This is the longest and straightest of the clubs. I won't say you can't miss with this but it takes a really poor swing to produce less than acceptable results. Center hits are really no different than the D or J but this club can really bail you out if you miss the center. I was shocked to see how far you can hit a ball with mediocre contact. This clubface is really hot. You can't work the ball quite as much but if you can live with a long straight drive this is a great club. I am using an EI-70 X flex shaft also. Stiffer than the S flex EI-70's in my previous drivers. This shaft can really save you on some bad swings too. If you can handle an X flex shaft (ask your pro if you can) I highly reccomend it. You won't miss the 5 or so yards that you might lose since you will be in the fairway instead of behind the trees.

Recently purchased 983k from ebay. 7.5 degree with Dynamic Gold x-100 steel shaft. Simply amazing. Used 975j-VS with true Fujikura Speeder 757 X for over a year and swore i would never switch but iam glad i did. The ball flight is slightly higher but it seems to bore a little more than the J-vs. Gained about 15-20 yards in flight distance. Flying the ball around 300 with moderate roll. Face feels hot and explosive which is great when you wish to stomp on it but not good if you wish to shape it. cant miss left with this driver, but if a little lazy it can go right on you. Looks great at address and has a more solid feel than the graphite shaft. Glad i switched, and also glad i got steel shaft, since now my shot dispersion is tiny.
