Titleist 975J Drivers

Titleist 975J Drivers

DESCRIPTION

A new 300cc Prototype Driver... the 975J has been seen in many Tour bags early in '01. Very similar look to its wildly popular predecessor the 975D. Just slightly larger and with a different look to the face... scoreing lines are placed in an "insert" look a'la the Callaway GBB. ~CB

In my review below, I meant the 300 was not that accurate. The J is far superior to anything else out there in terms of both distance and accuracy. It is expensive but my value rating is based on the price I paid.

I bought the Grafalloy Prolite version of the 975J driver. I am not sure if it was the grafalloy or the 975J but I could easily get the ball about 270 to 310 yards on my drives. It drove the ball about 20 yards further than my Taylormade burner or the Callaway Hawkeye. I suspect that the grafalloy made a big difference.

It is unfortuate they allow people like Morgan Day to put up worthless reviews. Low to Mid handicappers will easily be able to hit this club well. Poor golfers will struggle with any drivers and should stick to their fairway woods. To blame the club and not the golfer is ridiculous.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 975 j 9,5 deg.

After i wrecked my titleist 975 d on a driving-range, and at that moment the 975 j was not available in germany, i baught a callawy hawkeye vft. For 2 weeks i was quiet happy - hit the ball constant and mostly the same length like the 975 d. Then i recieved my 975 j (9,5 deg./ graffoloy prolite s)and after 5 strokes i sold the "old" callaway.
The main difference is the feeling in the moment of impact - more feedback from the club gives me a better feeling - and i can get the ball the same distance with a slower swing-speed comparing to teh 975d or the VFT. That means to me a more constistand drive-result and better scores.

This is a great driver, it rocks the Ping isi, and the taylor made. Everyone who has a ping can kiss my ass. Ping drivers are the worst drivers in the world and they feel like shit.

Updated review. I have had the opportunity to test this club on the course a few times now and am more impressed. Very comfortable on setup, head is large but not obnoxious. Ball take off on great trajectory and seems to carry forever. I have 10.5 loft but balls flys on great line, Ultralite shaft, regular flex, which I thought would be too whimpy, but turns out to be perfect, my swing speed is about 93-93 mph, the shaft is designed for speeds of 88-95mph. A note of caution, I tried the EI70 shaft, way too stiff and heavy for me personally, find the right shaft for your swing, it will make a world of difference. The club is well worth the price, if you have confidence and enjoy a club, pay the extra $100-150, it is well worth it.

This is about 20 yds longer than any other drive than my taylormade and I hit it consistant. This ball will roll for miles if you dont have enough loft. I'll tell ALL of you one thing...go demo the JASLAR easy air driver!VERY LONG. Go look at the very large size heads for better consistancy! ( 350cc+ )

This is a very good driver.
A lot more forgiving than the next best driver on the market (975D) and maybe a bit longer too.Try it out!

(PS I´m a 4 hcpér and I hit my driver 275 yards in average. I wonder how many (American) reviewers hit the ball "300+ and hits most of the fairways" and still shoots in the 90´s ??????!!!!!!!!.
The holes just have to be very very small "over there"! DS)

Hit 975D and 975J with matching specs on golf simulator. Results were AMAZINGLY similar. Higher ball flight w/J, about 5 extra yards on solid shots and 10 extra yards on mishits. Especially helpful on toe hits. The D was easier to draw back to my target while the J stayed a few yards right. Given the esthetic quality of the smaller headed D and price of the J it is hard to justify the expense.
