Titleist 975J Drivers

Titleist 975J Drivers

DESCRIPTION

A new 300cc Prototype Driver... the 975J has been seen in many Tour bags early in '01. Very similar look to its wildly popular predecessor the 975D. Just slightly larger and with a different look to the face... scoreing lines are placed in an "insert" look a'la the Callaway GBB. ~CB

I recently switched from my 975d to the 975j. I am hitting more fairways that ever before. At first I was a little cautious about switching to a larger driver, but once I hit it for the first time I was conviced. For me hitting fairways is very important so I can stick the next shot on he green. I am sure that the extra distance and accuracy that this club gives me will help me shoot in the low 70s ALL THE TIME.

This driver is only a so-so stick in every catagory. It tends to balloon on hard swings even though it has a stiff Graffalloy Prolite in it. I have the 8.5 loft and it plays more like a 10. I should have purchased a 6.5 to hlp keep the flight more like my normal trajectory. Overall i am very dissapointed in the club and would rate it third behind the Cleveland Quad pro and the Wilson Deep red.
Definitely way over priced$$$$$$$$ More hype than fact!

Very solid and easy to control. I went from the Callaway VFT 10 Degree with the UST Proforce 65 to the 975J with the Prolite S 3.5. I am getting 10 to 15 extra yards with the 975J.

I traded in my 975d for a VFT.. What a mistake. Got rid of the VFT for the 975J. Great Move.. This club is solid. I got the 9.5 Graffaloy.. The ball flight is high but really goes a long way. I thought the 975D was a good club until I hit this one

This club is awesome.. was able to produce high and low draws with
ease..the 9.5 produces a high penetrating ball flight but it doesnt balloon like a callaway. I prefer a higher flight. It gives you a better chance at clearing those bunkers placed
at the 240-250 mark. All your long ball
hitters hit it high. This club has the
accuracy of a titleist with the forgivness of a callaway.. You still have to be able to swing the club, those
with a decent swing will be rewarded

At first, I thought that this club is for pros. Then I dared to try it with TM 360, boy, am I glad that I tried. TM 360 feels good, but the ball to always go from left to right. If you are fighting your slice, STAY AWAY from TM. On the other hand, Titleist 975 J will lunch the ball eactly where you aimed, and the ball seems going forever. However, even you can hit good on the driving ranch, doesn't mean that you can do the same on the course. When you are under pressure, when that shot is the only shot that counts, you are better off to play with TM 360. The ball will fly somewhere near your target, but still you need to aim to the left to hit it streight.

So why am I still love 975J? Because once you know how to handle it as good as you did on the ranch, you are playing golf at different level!!!! The trick that I have learned is that your plane must be flatter, and you must hit from inside. If you are hitting from the top or from the outside, you are dead and no way to recover.

Just recently demo'd this club, and I honestly can't understand all of the hype about this club. I currently own a TM 320 and just love it. I thought the 975J was as good as the 320, but not any better, not any worse. It does feel somwhat bigger than the 975d, which was very nice club as well. I only hit about 20 balls, so the jury is still out. But I know that I'm not about to trade in my 320 for it. Nice club, but NONE of them are really worth the money. Just grin and eat the cost.

Used to play 975D, and recently tried. Significant less side spin compared to 975D, and pops up in the air way early. Not balloning effect, but high. I recommend lowering degree by 1 or 2. I usually play 8.5 for 975D, but had to lower the degrees by 2. Almost same trajectory, carry is about 5 to 10 yards longer, but less roll. Distance wise, the two sisters are same to me. But less side spin which means to me also a less workability. Overall, good driver, especially shooting 80s golfers.

I have, over last 3 yrs been on a driver search, now at last I can stop!! This is far and away, to me, the best I have used. I had a 975D and some time ago, like a fool got rid of it, and got a Callaway VFT H/eye, poor club to say the least, no consistency, and once again Callaway shafts are a BIG letdown. Same can be said for the Taylor Made 300 series, nice head, but the shaft is like chocolate!!! All other proprietry brands very similar, even considered an ilegal ERC 2 but couldnt bring myself to part with that much cash for another dissapointment, so I hung on to the VFT till yesterday, first shipment to my local shop of the 975J. I was there when they were delivered!!! Got myself a 9.5degree with Grafalloy pro-lite stiff, played in a comp last night with it and saw parts of the fairways I'd only ever walked over AFTER my 2nd shot!!!!Amazing accuracy and distance, like the D you need to be on your game, but hey, thats same for ANY club!!! The thing I liked about my D with same shaft and this one is, the harder you try to hit the more you get rewarded if you connect properly, unlike the Callaways, TM,s etc where I've always found, if you pour it on you suffer with wild hooks/slices, nothing like with this club, just more distance!!! This one WILL stay in my bag for a long time, rest assured!!!

Customer Service

This is the best driver in golf. What a magnificient piece of equipment. Thump, thump, thump. That is the sound of balls going deep. Very deep. I can do anything I want to with this driver except hit a hard low hook. But thats okay. It loves a big juicy fade that goes forever. Second favorite is the nid height draw that hits red hot and rolls and rolls and rolls. I have hit extremely long balls with this driver. A huge asset is that you can hit this thing anywhere out on the toe and still get tremendous distance. Oddly those toe shots feel weak but you look up and it's still going. I have played a GBB, Mizuno, and 975D. I really liked all those drivers but this is in another league entirely. Amazing.
