Titleist 907D2 Drivers

Titleist 907D2 Drivers

DESCRIPTION

Titleist. The #1 460cc driver on the PGA Tour.

When it comes to 460cc drivers, even at the highest level of competitive golf, there are plenty of choices. And Titleist continues to be the brand trusted above all others. Now there's the next evolution of 460cc driver technology, the new Titleist 907 drivers.

The Titleist 907D2 is a multi-material 460cc driver with an enhanced moment of inertia (MOI) for increased DISTANCE WITH WORKABILITY and shot control.

MOI is the clubhead's resistance to twisting on off-center impact (i.e., heel, toe, high, or low). A higher MOI value means more resistance to twisting. The benefit of a higher MOI is longer distance (better energy transfer from club to ball) on off-center impacts.

Not sure if it's the shaft or club, but this club is long and straight. The weird thing is, the harder you swing the straighter the ball flight. This clus is easily 20 yards longer than my TM R7. This review is only after maybe 100 hit at the range, but still I was very impressed.

Switched to this driver from 905T (same loft and shaft). The D2 is a much better club all around. Great feel and sound. About 10 yds more distance and much easier to hit. This is far and away the best driver ever from Titleist.

I have always beeen a Titleist man and always will be. When I finally decided to go from my 905r to the D2, I was totally disappointed. I used the same shaft that was in my 905 and had no consistency.
The head was not the typical pair shape as it's predecessors and the transition from one driver to the other (for me) was not as smooth as the other drivers in the Titleist family.
Just to make sure it wasn't my swing, I put the 905 back in my bag and drove the ball with far more consitency than I did with the D2. One thing I can say about the D2 is that it is about 15 yrds further than the 905R.

I bought this club because i seen a guy at the range hit the back fence multiple times with it. he was raving about it. So with that said, i gave it a try and it's not the club for me. I probably am not loading up the shaft enough to get the most out of it. I do get good distance on pure hits, but that's just it, i'm not pureing it enough. my mis-hits are quite a bit shorter then my companions whom i used to keep up with or pass with my
tm425. I could never draw the d2, always straight to a slight fade, and at worst a moderate slice. might give this club another try after a re-shaft, just do not like the nv-proto in this club, feels a bit boardy to me. Anyways, overall, not a bad club, just didn't think it was worth the money for the high moi hype. Anyone want to trade a TM superquad for this??? haha, i wish.... Well sticking with the 425cc TM for now, it's just easier to hit.

callaway x460 9.5, good feel with the fuji 65s shaft, but don't like the 2d closed face, looks a little awkward at address and i can still slice this sucker easily even tho it's a closed face.

I was using a Titleist 905R with a Proforce V2 65S shaft and was pretty happy with it...very long and fairly easy to hit, but I did tend to hook it a lot on hard swings. Being a true equipment ho, I just had to have the latest thing and traded in some old clubs for a 9.5 degree 907 D2 with VS Proto 65S shaft. I was amazed to find this club significantly longer (10-20 yards) and more importantly, MUCH easier to keep in the fairway than the 905R. This shaft and head are the best driver combo I have ever found....and I have used six different drivers over the past year in my quest for the best. Granted, it's expensive, but it's the best out there right now. UPDATE: After using the D2/VS Proto combo all summer, I still think it's the best off the shelf combo available. However, in my continuing quest for perfection, I picked up a spare 9.5 degree D2 off of eBay (getting much cheaper now) and got it shafted with an Aldila Xtreme NV 70 shaft, hoping the get a slightly lower ball flight. Great results so far! I normally prefer a higher ball flight, but it kills me on windy days sometimes. The Xtreme NV shafted version will be my windy day gamer. One word of caution on this head, since it's a bore through design, it may not work well with all types of shafts. I was going to buy an Accuflex Creation 65 for it, but was advised by a club maker that the Creation has a very short parallel tip section and does not work well in bore through heads...just something to consider. Otherwise, I still think it's the best driver out there for anyone with half decent driving skills.

Best driver out period. Played with em all. Most recently put away my Mizuno mx500 which I thought i never would because of its accuracy. The 907 D2 time after time out distanced it by 20 yards. It also outhit my sumo sq by only a little but I cant take looking @ that thing anymore. 907 fades and draws better than any 460cc I've hit. All you have to do is demo a 907 and one crush you won't go home without it

I've been using Titleist 905R 9.5 deg with GD YS-6+ for the last couple of years and been very happy with it as I was consistantly hitting it around 265yd. With the introduction of 907 lineup I decided to try out the new D1 & D2 model to see the difference. I didn't like the look of 907 D1 so I passed on to 907 D2. After spending 30 minutes on the launch monitor comparing my current 905R and new 907 D2 (same YS-6+ shaft) the difference was the distance gain (+15yd) and shot dispersion on mis-hit as well as lower spin rate on 907 D2. Next thing I did was to compare the available stock shafts available for 907 D2. I've tested proforce V2, GD YS-6+, Aldila VS Proto and afterwards, Aldila VS Proto seem to give better performance and feel. Now, I'm driving out 280 yd consistanly and bomb 300yd occassionaly. If you are in a market for new driver definitely check this driver out.

Have a demo D2 out on trial for the last week or so.Was actually thinking of buying a 905R after having a few hits last week with one.Very nice club, but all demo models were out..
Decided to try the D2...First impressions were on comparison with the 9205R..... D2 had a different sound..and felt a little more metaly. But catch one on the sweet spot and it feels like butter..Only took a few days for me to fall for this club , which I will purchase this week...

Overall....a very forgiving club...mis hits still find the fairway. My bad shot is a pull hook...have done this too with this club but very rarely....which is totally my fault..

Great club.

I received my D2 (8.5 degrees, 76 gr, V2 stiff shaft) about a month ago (after a fitting session) and with 8 rounds now completed am now in a position to provide honest feedback.

For the first 5 rounds I just couldn't get the hang of it. I wasn't sure if it was the size (I was previously playing the 983E), the loss of one degree (down to 8.5) or the weight (at 76 grams it feels extremely light compared to the 983E). I just couldn't find the sweet spot and all my shots ended up short and right. I really thought I'd made a huge mistake but I stuck with it and boy am I glad I did.

Halfway through my 6th round it just clicked and I started bombing it. It was like I found the ideal swing and sweet spot at the same time. The ball really started springing off the clubface, very similar in fact to the trampoline effect I experienced with old ERC 2 - but with so much more control! I never had that feeling with the 983E. Although I hit some solid, long drives with the 983E it always felt like I had to muscle it out there and only really got the best out of it when I was on the top of my game.

I haven't gained 50 yards, but on average I'd say I'm up 25. This is taking into account ALL drives and not just a direct comparison between my longest drive with each driver. Now I have the hang of the D2 I find it very forgiving, only losing 10-15 yards with off centre hits. I'd lose 30+ with the 983E.

I honestly think the 8.5 for me has really helped me too as the fitter told me I'd get less 'wasted' hang time (that means the ball goes forward and not just upwards) and subsequently more roll with less loft as I actually 'add' loft at impact. Well he was right as I have now lowered my trajectory and getting decent roll which was rarely the case with the 983E. And with this I am now no longer afraid of hitting into the wind as the D2 cuts through it like a hot knife through butter.

The biggest benefit I've found though is that I cannot hit it left at all. I've always been a fader but capable of the ugliest pulls you're ever likely to see at any given point in the round. Many were round wreckers. But no matter how hard I try to turn the D2 over the best I can do is a little draw! Is this just me or have others found this? One thing that has just occured to me is the fitter recommend I add 2 layers of tape under my grips. Whatever the reason I am now no longer afraid of left!

Anyway, I am delighted with this club and so happy I was patient during those first 5 rounds. I never played the R so I cannot comment on some of the posts, but a friend has one and is now desperately searching for a fitter so he can order new clubs!

Customer Service

Good (free fitting and 15% discount on all 12 clubs I purchased) except for the fact they told me I'd receive my new club in 30 days. They arrived in 60.
