There are many good reviews of this club here. The important thing to note about the R7 425 is that it is an excellent driver when paired with the proper loft and shaft setup for whoever is swinging it. When proper demo time is spent getting the right set-up for your swing, the club is awesome. If you don't do this, save your money. I went through 3 lofts and five different shafts until my magic combination literally jumped out. Through using this club and starting flexibility stretching exercises,I have gained 20 yards. I am not sure how much of the gain is because of the club and how much the exercises, but it is real. Do not just buy this or any other driver "off the rack". Proper research will pay dividends whether you buy TM, Callaway, Titleist, Ping, Cleveland, etc. End of sermon....

Taylor Made has hit the bullseye with this driver. Looks great at address, REAX shaft is very strong and stable through the ball, the weighting of the head gives great feedback to your hands. Hitting just as long as any other driver out there. I havent played with the weights much as it hasnt been necessary...but may try soon to optimize ball flight and minimize spin. If you like this driver... you will also love the feel of the R7 fairway woods. Good stuff TM!!

This is an awesome driver. I checked out a demo club at Fossil Trace G.C. It is a 9.5 degree and has a stock ReAx stiff shaft. Hit balls with it in the driving range while waiting for my tee time and I hit it really solid, far and straight most of the time. In the second hole, I hit a hole-in-one on Par 4 (297 yards) with it. Lucky? Maybe, but throughout the course I feel that the driver was really really really awesome. Unfortunately, a student like me hasn't been able to afford it. This is my dream driver. Even though I haven't been able to buy it, I found what I need though while a lot of people still looking for what they need. Try this and hopefully you will found yours too.

I shoot in the mid 80's and i was looking for more distance off the tee (im 14, so it's hard), so i searched for a new driver
i tested out this club, titleist 905r+t, callaway x460, and nike sasquatch
this club had really good distance, but it really got the ball up too high in the air. I like the idea of adjustable weights, but they made the clubhead so heavy that it was hard to build up any swing speed
I went with the callaway x460 because it was a little longer, straighter, and had a much better feel

this is still a great driver, just needs a little more time to be adjusted

Model Reviewed: r7 425 TP

This is by far the best driver I've ever used. I've seen a lot of complain about the lacking of distance of r7. Well, r7 require that you hit the ball somewhere with the upper half of the club face to get the most out of it. I know that the TP is pricy and it took me a long time to commit this kind of money for a driver. However, if you are a good ball striker, I don't see why anyone would not falling in love with this first class driver. REALLY LONG and ACCURATE. My home course Par 5 is playing around 490-500 yards, and a good driving day in a dry condition, I will have 8 or 9 irons for my second short (never been able to do this until this r7 425 tp). May be the ball has something to do with this too (Nike One Black). Bottom line, it's worth every penny. I used to hate Taylor made (was a titleist man before the R7 era), not every wood club in my bag are R7 (I play the r7 tp 3 wood as well)....

If you can afford it, try the TP version, you won't regret it (a slightly used one on eBay will offer a hugh discount)

I hit this club at a recent taylormade demo night. I was fitted on the taylormade mac-ti fit launch monitor. It is a great club but didnt like the stock rexax shaft and opted for the graffaloy prolaunch. I would definetly recommend getting fitted on a launch monitor to get the right loft and shaft.

I've played Titleist for the past 4 years (983k then 905T). Wanted to try something new so ordered the r7 425 the day it was released. I've now had it for a little over 3 months and I must say I'm very disappointed.

With my titleist gear I got to have a decent draw and my misses were left..unfortunatley sometimes way left. I couldn't hit a fade to save my life and was hoping the r7 and the weights could help compensate a little. Well...it did...and it kept compensating. After trying every combination of weights (even purchasing new ones) I've come to the conclusion that it's basically a gimic (at least for my game).

Even when I hit this club on the screws (at neutral position on the weights or any other configuration) this club is at least 20 yards shorter than what I was used to playing with the Titleist.

Granted it's quality built and looks great, however just not for me.

Probably going to the 905R - but considering the Ping G5 and the Hi-bore.

I have been a Titleist man for many years now and have been using the 983k hcr, however that driver will become illegal soon so i decided that i had to get a new driver. I was going to go for the 905T or the 905R however I fancied a change, so i went for the R7 425 and boy it is awsome! My advice with this driver is be patient. The first few rounds I struggled with it, however I'm now getting used to the weight and shaft. The reax stiff shaft is great. It feels solid throughout the swing. The face on this driver is hot! I'm now htting the ball from the centre of the sweetspot and boy does it travel through the air. I have have not really experimented with the weights yet, I don't think I'll need to. This driver allows me to control my ball flight and shape without even touching the weight system. This club is a low handicap players dream. It's much more forgiving than the 983k and just as long if not longer.

I got impatient waiting for Titleist to make the 905R freely available and recently changed to this R7 425 (9.5 deg stock stiff shaft) from a 905T (stiff Grafalloy blue shaft).

I was initially sceptical having had reservations about the quality of Taylormade products, but to be fair this driver is good. The stock shaft feels very soft, but the club is very accurate and ball velocity is good. I suspect it is not as long as the new Titleist 905R or Cleveland HiBore, but I am hitting nearly every fairway and even the stray ones are not as wild as usual.

I have yet to play around with the weights but am going to set it for a draw configuration (I usually hit a slight fade and normally couldn't draw the ball to save my life!)to see if it works.

I wish Taylormade would fit other shaft options such as Aldila, Grafalloy, etc. I know the TP shaft is excellent, but overpriced.

Overall, a good club that is more playable and forgiving than a Titleist driver.

I bid on and won a Taylormade R7 425 on Ebay a couple of months ago. Got it for $300.00 plus $12.00 shipping. This model came with the stock shaft, regular flex and 9.5* loft. As soon as it arrived I headed to the range to get it dialed in. I spent about an hour-and-a-half hitting balls and moving the weights around until I got this bad-boy dialed in. I'm a 51 year old man, 6'3" tall, 225 lbs. and play to a 11 hdcp. My prefered ball flight has always been a controlled fade which I usually hit accurately and somewhere around 230-240 yds. I ended-up with the weight configuration set in the slight fade position. So by now your wondering what my tee shots are doing with this new driver? I'm still playing the same fade but I've gained accuracy and more distance! About 10-15 more yards and every once in a while when I put a good swing on it; 25-35 more yards! This driver is the real deal! Check Ebay for some deals!
