I bought the r7 460 a couple of months ago. Took it down south and out west for a couple of golf trips. It worked great for me. I figured, what the heck join the technology wave of the 21st. century. Wow was I pleased! I'm hitting the ball consistently 240 to 255 yds. Hey, thats good for me. But the big PLUS with the r7 is that I am in almost EVERY fairway. The r7 is a wonderful driver for me. Easy to swing. Just feels good, and sounds great on contact.

Pretty nice club. Just got it a few days ago and have had two driving range sessions with it and so far so good. The first time I took it out I didn't hit it to good because I use to hit a 9.5 so I had it in my head that with an 8.5 I would have to muscle it to get it up in the air....didn't work. I was hitting it all over the place. The second day I went out and just hit it without thinking about what loft it was and was just crushing it. I don't know the exact distances but I usually hit it around 270-280 and it felt like it was going that far at the very least. As of now without having played an actual round with it I am happy but we'll see what happens on the course. Was going to buy the Superquad but couldn't see myself shelling out 400+ bucks on a golf club that will be half that in a year. I recommend Ebay for all club purchases. Got this one for 160 brand new. Value rating based on ebay price

Holy Smoke. This driver is long, REALLY LONG. I tried it out at a local Dicks Sports in the simulator and was hitting effortlessly around 230 yds and dead straight. I bought the club a week later online from BHM Golf online for about $80 less (paid $249). I took it to Scottsdale and played two rounds with it (Starfire and Silverado) two weeks ago. No exaggeration I was bombing them out there between 285 and 300! I set the weights for a draw and sure enough every ball drew. This is a serious weapon to keep in the arsenal. Mine is a 9.5 degree with a regular flex stock Fujikara shaft (made for the R7 460). Well worth the investment. I've been playing seriously for six years and I'm a 17 handicap, so anything to help me close the gap on a 16 is money well spent. The R7 460 fits this bill.

Customer Service

Taylor is awesome. I've been dealing with them for years. They are the nicest people and happy to help.

I got the R7 460 9.5 Driver for about $100 after upgrading and trading in my old R5 Draw bias at a local golf store. After a shaft upgrade, thanks to golfsmith.com, to a grafalloy blue, X flex, if I make the correct full shoulder turn on the backswing, I hit this thing a country mile. And decently straight. The insane slice is gone, as well as the guess work. For those of you who posted about less distance, you need to work on your backswing and full shoulder turn. Then allow the hips to start the downswing and blast this club into next year! Take a lesson and you will be amazed at how far you can hit most clubs including this one with the right shaft. I have a recent 380 yard drive, with cameraphone pics and people to prove it!

R7 460; first with stock fuji shaft, Reg Flex, then Graf Blue, Reg Flex, finally Aldila NVS, Reg Flex. As stated, I believe correctly by other reviewers, and despite changing shafts to a higher kick and stiffer tip, this head produces a very high ball flight with below average distance. It did however help with my power fade. However an occassional hook would come from nowhere. Launch monitor showed all specs okay, but on course those numbers did not equal the high ball flight. Best for someone who needs to get the ball in the air; otherwise compromising too much distance.

Model Reviewed: Taylor made r7 460 10.5 - reax 60 reg

I was playing a round about a month ago, & decided to share a motorised cart with a fellow player & noticed he had a new driver in his bag, the r7 460,now this guy is a 27 h'cap who never gets close to playing to it& he had 19 points(stableford)on the front 9 , that would normally be his score for 18 !, also he hit a 300 metre (330 yds) drive breeze assisted on one of the par fives 40 metres past my G2.
So at the turn after hitting my tee shot its usuall distance, I asked him if I could have a hit with it so I teed one up & bang ! way past my tee shot, did it again on several other holes & I just couldnt get over how good it felt. The fuji re-ax reg flex yes reg, (normally use stiff but no need with this, its just right for me) is the best shaft ive ever tried NO NEED to upgrade seriously it is that good very stable & powerfull.

I had recently tried the launcher ti & the comp but no better than the g2 so back on ebay they went. What I really like about the r7 is that it is so forgiving & it gives me confidence like no other club has ever done & I have had many top name clubs.
The face looks closed a tad , but even with the weights set in draw set up I dont hook it, (a problem that has plagued me in the past except for the g2).
The bottom line is this club is the dogs bollocks !!( totally outstanding)its only negative is its price tag, but they are pretty reasonable now on ebay, & after I sold the ping I wasnt much out of pocket.
I also tried a new ball which is worthy of a mention the pinnacle exeption, made by Acushnet the same manufacture as titleist, it has the same dimple pattern & cover as the v1, but half the price ! check out the reviews , they are awesome, they should be called exceptional.

Peace.

I went to purchase the 425 as an upgrade from the original r7. The 460 was on sale and I hit it a few times to get the feel but, being indoors, I really could only evaluate the direction. At the range I noticed the ball flight elevated (10.5) over my normal drives. For the most part the ball flew straighter but on the course I experienced 20 to 30 yards unless I nailed it in the screws. The slightest draw adjustment causes a hard spinning hook while opening the face creates a modified slice with some distance increase. The sound is tinny, the weight seems ackward and the head is clumsy. Other than that, I did hit the ball straighter.

Customer Service

Golfsmith refunded me 90% this morning and I coughed up the extra money for the 425.

What can I say about this driver? I gained about 30 yards over the r7 HT (Fuji Speeder 757 shaft). I put in the Rombax 55g in with the 460 and it is simply amazing. I have never hit straighter or longer. Great Club!

Club hits well. Good flight. High, yet penetrating. I settled on Pro Launch X, 46" D5 8.5degs.
The MEGA BIG fault is the sole plate and the way the weights "bump" out. Unless you hover the club at address, these bumpy bits snag on the ground and thus prevent a smooth takeaway.

For me this happened maybe one in five drives. The thing is,...you dont know when its going to happen, so your concentration is affected, resulting in a poor swing.

The badly designed thing is going on Ebay ASAP.

I have been using the R580XD for over a year and hit this straight down the middle or a slight draw 260+yds. I have a Grafalloy Blue Reg shaft. Decided to buy the r7 460 on recommendation, boy what a mistake. It came with a Aldila NV 65 S and really looks the part. My problem is the 580 was square and the 460 is 1* closed. Result is I'm hooking everything. The sound of the strike is excellant but I'm afraid that for anyone who is used to playing with a square or open faced driver then this club isn't for them.
