Im L/H and can never find clubs to demo so had to take chance and buy one. I really intended to get the 540 but put in an internet bid for this nearly new 580, 9.5. Glad I did. Came with a proforce gold 65 shaft which I had reservations about being too stiff compared to the stiff in my ping isi, but its perfect. Never thought I would ever part with my Ping which has been a fantastic driver. But this 580 has blown it away. Off centre shots still get away great and finding the big "bald" sweet spot (you hear it and feel it when you do) obliterates the pill!! I go to the range hit a few short irons then selfishly ignore every other club because I just want to nail this thing. I hit my 7 iron about 165yrds. I can tell this thing is carrying 20 past my ping with a lower flight (my ping was 10.5) so come the summer will roll for miles. The 580 with reg shaft I once tried was like a fishing rod.

I know this club has lots of fans out there but I found it to be a real disappointment. While the head looks nice and clean at address for its size, and it is forgiving, the shaft performance was abismal. You would think for the $399 the retail shops are asking and the almost $500 SR, TM would have put a decent shaft in their top of the line driver. The MAS 60 stiff that came with mine was soft and mushy, it felt like a senior flex. I hit it several times at the range side by side with my current Ping Tec, and it was no comparison. The Ping was straighter, longer, more consistant. So I got rid of it (R580), I did not even consider re-shafting I was so put off. If you are really looking for a hot driver save your money and get a Ping Tec or a Cobra SS427 either of which can be had for at least a hundred less, and you won't be disappointed.

Bought this club right after the holidays when prices are usually at their lowest on E-Bay. Planned on re-shafting to stiff MFS65N or ETA, but decided to try awhile first. When I checked swingweight on club, was VERY suprised to find it was a D8!!, when it is advertised to be a D3. Took club to range for initial test and BOMBED it,but it just felt to head heavy, and shots moved around more than I wanted. (I slowed my 106 S/S down to 95-100 to compensate for soft shaft). As shaft had a nice feel to it, I decided to try something different. I knew the shaft was 62 grams and the grip was 42 grams SO I switched the grip to a heavier 54 gram " GP players softie" grip ( This was quite a chore as the MAS2 60 shaft is a .700 butt!!) This effectively lightened the head and stiffened the shaft. Took club out for re-test and "WOW" what a difference!! Straighter and just as long, with a D2 S/W. Needless to say, I have put the re-shaft on hold! The grip does feel BIG but, adds a little more control in the hands. Any grip over 51 grams should accomplish the same effect. This club is long and forgiving, and is better overall than any I have ever used. The look is "BIG" and Sound is so-so but who cares when your in the F/W every time. If your having problems with your 580 try the grip thing or pull the stock grip and shorten it 1/2" is will give the club a lighter head feel and more control. Happy golfing! !

My swing is inconsistent and I'm a weak driver, usually straight but rarely as long as it can be. This TM 580 has always been 10-20 longer than other clubs with same swing compared side by side on range and on course. When I do hit it pure this baby CRANKS! It can be a loud, almost obnoxiously loud. Can be a little embarassing when you hit a shrieking blow that's a top that only goes 150 yds, but I suffer through it.

I have a Nike driver (350cc) which I really like. Pretty long and easy to hit. A friend suggested that I test the R540 and R580. Wow. Even longer and absolutely consistent. I have to work to hit a bad drive. The R580 likes slower, smooth swings off of high tees. The ball launches itself. The only negative is that it is sometimes a little too high which loses distance by cutting down on roll. No need to go to your 3 wood on those tight fairways. Just tee it up and watch it go.

I have the new Nike Pro Combos and this driver. The perfec set in my eyes. This Driver is so SWEET and LONG. The ball looks like it goes a mile and it just keeps goin sometimes out of site. My swing speed is only 112 but it seems like its 140 because of the Distance. The accuracy is to hard too control either. This club is recommended by a lot of people and by me. I also have the matching 3 and 5 wood of the Taylormade R500 series. If you like the driver get the fairway woods too. There just as sweet and there also very very very long. These fairway woods have the highest COR in a fairway wood so there expected to go far.

This club stinks, everything about it is bad.Distance,accuracy,feel. I have liked every other Taylor Made driver (360,burner)but this is junk compared to them. So save yourself 200 and get the 360ti.

The best club I´ve ever tried!!! IF You put in a better shaft than the stock shaft it will rock! I´ve put in a Penley John Daily signature (stiff) and i can´t be happier. It´s now very long AND straight!

This is the driver I have been looking for. Perfect head size and trajectory. Super solid feel unlike the big headed drivers I have tried. The face is big enough to inspire confidence and delivers plenty of distance. Superb driver.
