this club is amazing. i dont know how people can say otherwise. even though this driver is quiet expensive the results are worth it. i used to drive about 240 to 250 meters average and now i am getting ou to about 280 meteres easy and i am consistantly hitting 12/ 13 fairways. if you have the money i would reccomend buying this club but make sure you get the club fitted to your swing. This is a great driver that lives up to the tour hype. Extremely solid feel on mediocre hits. About 20 yards longer than my previous TM R540XD (250 yds up to 270). The best part is that this driver hits like a 3-wood. Straight, straight, straight. I think this is because the deep face does not allow for mis-hits as far away from the sweet spot as wider drivers. Lastly, the r7 does have a very high pitched sound, much like Cobra drivers, except slightly softer. A great driver, but of course, all major brands make very good drivers. If you can't fork up the big money, most other drivers (Ping G2, Cobra Comp, Big Bertha 454) are about as long, but you will still lose the amazing consistency Similar Products Used: TM R540XD w/ Aldila NV-65 Reg. |

Taylormade R7
I have played 10 rounds with my R7. Out of the gate I hit the ball extremely well. For 4 rounds I was straight and a bit long for me (normally 235 to 250 on solid contact 240 to 260 with the R7). I had played with an R580xd all year and hit it OK at times. I am NOT long but the R7 seemed to add a few yards with solid contact. My results after the first 4 rounds were not great. The club is less forgiving then the R580xd and that is obvious with miss-hits. I will need to play out the 2005 season with the R7 in order to have enough of a sample size to make an accurate review. Spring is 4 months away. Customer Service Never used Similar Products Used: R580xd and R580 |

Have all 16 weights and you'll see what this driver is made of. Too bad it took two monthes to figure out what weight setup was right for my swing. Didn't have trouble getting in the air. Yeah, I picked up a few yards here and there, but it's not worth the money. The Ignite, G2, and Cobra drivers can outdrive the R7. All three have a much bigger sweetspot, and half the price. First, this is a GOOD club. It is not the magic club that many wish it were. I purchased the 10.5 degree model with a regular flex Graffaloy shaft. My previous driver was the 10.5 degree Cleveland Launcher 460 Ti with the stock shaft in stiff flex. My review will compare these two clubs. After my first use of the R7 on the range I was ready to drop it in the trash...all low shots with no height. After reading other reviews, I went to a high tee and put the ball forward in my stance. Amazing improvement and now I was ready to compare the two. The R7 is 5-10 yards longer than the Launcher but marginally less forgiving than the 460cc Cleveland. The R7 lauch angle is much lower than the Cleveland but acceptable. The R7 is marginally straighter than the Cleveland. There is very little difference in the shots when the stock weights are moved around. Not enough to notice consistently. Bottom line: the price of the R7 is NOT justified in comparison to the Cleveland Launcher. DO NOT pay $500 retail for this club...about half price on Ebay and it will undoubtedly go lower as the weight shifting marketing gimmick wears off. If the extra money is worth the 5-10 yards for you with a little less forgiveness then go for the R7, otherwise the Cleveland Launcher 460 is its equal. Customer Service I called Taylor Made's 800 customer service number twice to discuss the weight system and found them very helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. Important information they provided: there is NO upper weight limit on the ports. If you want the heaviest head possible, you can purchase 4-14 gram weights (the heaviest commercially available) and go from the standard 22 gram version to a staggering 56 grams. For each 2 grams added you will increase one swingweight from the standard D-3. The experts said that many of the pros use heavier custom weights for extra distance, but they have very high swing speeds which allows them to compensate for the heavier head. Vijay has a 22 gram weight in the toe to keep it straight for his swing. Similar Products Used: Cleveland Launcher 460 Ti with 65 gram stock shaft. Smith and Wesson 300cc (loved this driver but can't find a new one). Wilson Deep Red Fat Shaft(perhaps the longest driver I have ever hit, but couldn't consistently control the direction and got fed up with the low left line drives. |

What a solid club! I have used a Taylormade R580 for some time now and this just blew it away. I am hitting much more consistanty and have gained a few yards. It is very responsive and has a higher pitch noise and a more solid feel of any other driver I have tried. A great club. Unfortunately the driver does not live up to it's promises. I have a 9.5 stiff that cannot launch the ball high enough even with 3.25" tees. The face is too closed for someone with a natural draw swing. I must take the club outside to keep the ball from hooking on aggressive swings. And yes, I have moved the weights.. this initially was a novelty, but ends up being a pain. If you are a low single digit handicapper like myself, try the G2, it is cheaper and longer (25-30 yards). I averaged 276 in the Vector with the R7, and 307 with the 10 degree G2. As a note, I asked TM to trade me for the 10.5 TP, and I would cover the additional costs/dollars... they turned me down. Customer Service Poor attitude, not helpful at all. Will not but Taylor Made products again. Similar Products Used: Ping, Callway, Taylor Made. |

This driver was amazing! From the first time i hit it on the range i knew i wanted it. i loved the way that it sat on the ground and the sound that it made was great. i had previously tested the Taylormade R580XD but it didnt compare to to distance that i got with the r7. I previously owned the Taylormade R580 and i hit my drives consistantly about 220 to 240 metres but now with the r7 i'm getting it out to about 260 to 280. The only bad thing about this driver is the price but other than that it ia amazing! |

I didn't like this one very much. It can be an effective weapon once you spend some time with it, but amateurs and poor ball strikers are better off keeping their cash and buying something cheaper and more forgiving. Pros and better ball strikers will probably like it, but I really like the R510 quite a bit more. The R510 is IMO a better 'grip and rip' club and less expensive to boot. This driver is tremendous. Very forgiving, mis-hits still go a long way but most important all shots are in general straighter. When I first took the club to the range couldn't hit it for 10 or so shots. Then compared it to my old driver which had a big head. The R7's head was much larger, I switched to 3-1/4" tees and after that didn't miss. Played with the weights a little but found that neutral or the high draw setting were basically the same for me and have left it at the draw setting with good results. Price is high but you have to pay for the newest and the best and this is pretty darn good. Customer Service N/A |
