Model Reviewed: 2009 Taylor made burner driver

Just put the 2009 TM Burner in the bag replacing a G10. I never thought I'd find a driver that felt as good as the G10, but I was wrong! The burner feels as good as the Ping and is about 5-10 yards longer with the same ball flight (medium). I am 62 with a SS of 88-92 on Trackman. The G10 is 10.5 and has the stock, TFC129 R shaft. The Burner is also 10.5 with the stock, ReAx 49 R shaft.
Courtesy of Skycaddie, I was averaging 235 yds. with the Ping and my first two rounds with the Burner I've averaged 242 yds.! I'm keeping the Ping as a security blanket, but I have a feeling that the TM 2009 Burner isn't leaving my bag anytime soon!

Model Reviewed: Burner and Tour Burner 08 models

I am currently playing a TaylorMade R-5 driver w/ stiff flex and 9.5 deg loft. I drive the ball around 250-280 using a Titleist NXT ball. I tried the 08 Burner and Tour Burner hoping to get a few more yards and increased consistency. Wow, was I surprised... Not only did I not get additional distance I found that I simply could not hit this driver at all. I highly recommend you try hitting these style drivers before buying one. I saved myself a lot of money and frustration by trying one before buying it. I will continue to play my R5 or may upgrade to an R7 which I can hit also. It may work for some guys but I simply can't hit the burner driver... weird.

Model Reviewed: Taylor made R-9

I just got finished playing with the new Taylor Made R-9, 9.5 degree loft with stiff shaft and was extremely disappointed. I play with a Taylor Made Burner with 9.5 degree loft and stiff shaft so I thought the same specs would work and just had to tweak it a bit with the removable weights and adjustable settings. BOY, was I dead wrong!. The stiff shaft on the R-9 is REALLY stiff compared to the Burner's stiff shaft. The R-9 shaft is also slightly shorter as well which magnifies the stiffness. The Taylor made Burner 's head is dramatically more forgiving. I was consistently 15- 20 yards longer with the Burner and a heck of a lot straighter no matter how i tried to compensate with the weights on the R-9.. Youy better be super fast with your swing speed (I am 95-100) and have a grooved swing to hit the center of this club. Off center even just a tad and you are punished severely in distance and accuracy. ( You will see my club club offered on e-bay very soon. LOL!.) It isn't worth the price to put a new and expensive shaft in. just to try to play catch up with the MUCH cheaper and better Burner. Don't let the hype drain your wallet. Try it before you buy it is my most fervent advice. Be warned.

Best driver ever. Adds 20 straight yards to my drives. The only problem is- it's so forgiving that I get sloppy and overswing.

This is a great club for the price. I paid about $140 on ebay at the end of last season for this driver. It took a little bit for me to get used to it, but once I did, WOW! This thing hits high, long, and straight. Yesterday was the first round ever that I hit EVERY drive straight down the middle of the fairway. The best feeling ever!

Great for the high handicapper looking to get some added distance and consistency with their driver. Warning: Do not try to over swing with this club!!! A nice and easy swing will easily put it 250 yards away on the middle of the fairway. I have buddies who try to over swing with theirs and get a serious slice as a result. Do not make this mistake!

Taylormade produced a fantastic club when it released this 2007 burner. Its no wonder why I see so many of them in other players bag whenever I go to the course. The 3 wood should be arriving at my home early this week and I plan on getting the 5 wood ASAP!

Great Club. I've had this club for a while, and I've broke the shaft twice and I use a stiifer flex. I suggest to people who buy this club so look at shafts to put in the club. I used the Graffloy Blue, and I love it.

Went to power golf a week a go and tried numerous amount of drivers and the burner above all the rest hit 20 yards further than the rest so i grabbed it straight away. tried it straight away at my local golf course and ive got to say WOW. not only is this driver long but surprisingly very straight, i get quite a lot of roll with this club which i love and which i was lacking with my 'nike sumo sq' where i was also lacking distance overall i would recommend this driver to anyone and rate it 6 stars out of 5.

I just returned from a golf vacation and put my Burner Driver to the test. WOW! I was using irons for my second shot on some par 4's that I have never used for a second shot to the green. Very stable and light feeling club with the 49g shaft and an "M" flex. I went in for a fitting and the numbers showed that this was a good match for my swing speed and ability. I did not get much if any roll out because of wet conditions so I can not wait for dry fareways here at home in a month or so. I am very happy with my new Burner by Taylor Made.

I recently purchased this driver after careful research and after reading numerous reviews. I just took it out to the course and inmmediately took off about 5-7 strokes of my game. I hit 14 fairways and hit it approximately 250-280 yards. I love it and definately recommend it.
