I tried both the stock 50 gram R and S flexes, as well as a VS Proto R flex. Sorry to say I was disappointed. Nice sound, good distance, but they all felt just a bit unstable, just a bit squirrelly... felt like the tip was wrong, at least for me. I have to admit I have been having trouble with my driver in general, so take it with a grain of salt... I will keep buyin' and tryin'... Superquad next... I hear it is REALLY straight and just a little shorter.

I tried this at the demo day at my local golf course. At first I had my eye set on the superquad, but I instantly saw an increase of distance. I have probably the worst slice in the world, but the ball actually had a little draw on it! All of the reviews that I had read were great. I thought that it was too good to be true, but they weren't. THIS CLUB IS AWESOME!

Model Reviewed: Burner HT Stiff

Bought a 9.5° Stiff Burner a few months ago. I did not get any distance improvement over my old Srixon XXIO, in fact I lost about 20m, but did start hitting a LOT more fairways. In fact my handicap dropped from 12 to 9, mainly through hitting more fairways.
First thing about this club, DO NOT believe all the hype about increased clubhead speed due to the lighter shaft/grip/extra 1" etc etc. A few friends and I spent literally hours on a launch monitor early last week and none of us recorded the fastest clubhead speed with this club. I cracked 114MPH with a 45" shaft Cleveland Launcher (110MPH top with Burner), my mate on a 4 handicap cracked 117MPH with a Titleist D2 (114MPH with Burner), and another mate on a 6 handicap peaked at 102MPH with pretty well every club. A lighter club sounds good in theory but in practice things change.
As mentioned above, I'm also pulling up a good 20 metres shorter than my old Srixon XXIO with 45.5" X-Stiff UST 75gm shaft. The difference in distance showed up on the launch monitor also (with around a 7° launch angle).
Make sure you hit the actual club you intend to buy, as there is a LOT of variation in new Taylormade clubs. I have hit 3 of the exact same 9.5° Stiff Burners on the same day with distance and feel varying considerably.
After a lengthy session on a launch monitor last week I was convinced by an Adelaide retailer to change my 9.5° for the HT (13°) version to achieve the ideal 10-14° launch angle for more distance. I traded my near new 9.5° for the HT with NO distance improvement, just increased loft and backspin.
I came away very disappointed, especially after a AUD$290 changeover and no distance increase.
Anyway, if you want to hit more fairways, this is the club for you. If you want maximum distance try to compare every club you can so you're not as disappointed as me regarding distance, particularly with all the hype.

Customer Service

Garbage in Adelaide. Make sure the golf shop knows how to use ALL the launch monitor data, not just clubhead speed and launch angle.

I tested a friend's burner the previous weekend. It felt so easy to use. Bought one myself this weekend. Tested it at the range against my old driver. Th Burner instils alot of confidence. It seems that all I needed to do was to take back the club and release into the ball. Shots were slight draws to slight pulls. I normally discount advertsing hype significantly but I can say that the Burner could almost launch itself. It was almost impossible to slice with this thing. I am now looking forward to breaking 100 at my home club this coming weekend. The most amazing club I ever bought.

Just got the longest drive at yesterday's scramble; 320 yards down the middle, and I didn't even hit it flush, the ball and tee mark was a little towards the toe. It just isn't fair to play with this driver!

Well what can I say. A friend of mine had the burner in has bag, but couldn't hit it right (but als his iron shots were awfull) so I asked him if I could try the burner. I hit him dead straight 280 a good ball flight (regular flex 10.5 fujikura shaft). I was amazed how easy it was. Used the driver again on the 18th a long par 5 and again around 280. I have never reached 280 before straight. Look my friend in the eye and said: the driver is the best, but you need some basic lessons. So now I've bought the burner on Ebay and have it shipped to Europe, the Netherlands. Hope that all my other friens don't read the reviews and keep the burner secret to them.

Model Reviewed: TaylorMade Burner HT 13 degree

I bought this club after using a friends. This is a great driver. I am not going to tell you I hit it 300+. Honest driving distance for me is in the 230 to 250 range longest so far is 262. That is big improvement for me. I am satisfied with the distance. My drives with a normal driver are low and not much distance. The HT is like hitting a huge 3 metal. The 13degree loft is just rigt for a low hitter. It really gets the ball high for me. To go farther you have to keep it in the air and this club does just that. This is not the club for most hitters. If you already hit your driver high, this will send your ball straight up. To much loft for a high ball hitter. I love this driver. I guess that is why TaylorMade is the #1 driver in golf. They have a driver for all hitters now. Thanks TaylorMade.

I play a 9, bought the Burner 1 month ago and have played it for about 5 rounds now. The club feels and sounds great, it is easy to hit and helps you hit the ball dead straight.
The only reason I do not give it a 5 is because the main reason I bought was to earn a little more distance and the truth is I hit my Callaway 460 (which is also a great driver by the way) a little farther.

I'm a 10 handi and likes to tinkle w/ new equipment. After using r5n for about 2 years switched to a new burner driver. Although I gained 15 yards burner is more suited for a beginner. You can't really work the ball and has little feel to it. The ball flight is high for a 9.5 degree and will tend to stay straight.
