I used the original bubble burner since it came out, hitting about 240-260 pretty consistently. When I saw this new burner with titanium head ,and priced OK, I bought it right away. Aside from the nice "clink" the head gives you on impact, I have been very dissapointed with the results from this driver.....I am no longer with this club at all....my best hits are exactly where I used to be with my old burner....my lesser swings are much shorter. The shaft just feels dead on a lot of swings. This club is not a long hitter by any means. Save your money if you think you are going to get any extra yards by investing in this driver.....my steel shafted 3-wood is just as long and 1/4 the price.

The Taylor Made 420 is a very straight and forgiving driver. I had the 360 Ti and broke the shaft. I demoed the 580, 540 and 420, and the 420 was the most forgiving and still every bit as big off the tee. First time on the course I hit 6 of 7 fairways(-2 par 3's). Big Improvement for me. Very much recommend this driver, although it wasn't marketed very well, i'd give it the old sleeping giant status. good luck out there.

I got this for free after my old Taylormade's head broke off. Luckily, I had time left on the warranty, so they sent me this club free of charge. I used to hit it about 220-230. Now I can hit it 260-270. And I'm 14. Great club. Highly recommend.

This is the most solid driver I've ever hit. Its long, low, and very straight. Easy to hit, especially if you don't try to "jump on it." IMO it blows the Titleist 983 away - much easier to hit and very, very consistent.

All I ask is that nobody tells my golfing buddies how easy it is to hit this club. Distance is not my problem but I have been know to pull a shot or two into the next county. I tested this club after demoing all the lastest and greatest. The Burner blew them all away for me. Most shots are straight or little draw if you hit it on the sweet spot, (which is very big). One big pull hook on the range. Then I figured out you don't want to over swing this club. Nice and easy and watch it go straight down the fairway. As for distance it's very good too. I did hit my Tour Edge Bazooka 320 J a little farther, but not much. I'll take 280 and straight over 285 in the trees. If I had to say anything negitive I would say the size of it. 420cc is a lot bigger than what I was used to. The sound is a little boring too. Not really a snap and not really a ping. I got over it though when I only missed one fairway on the front 9 and that was in the first cut. It may not be for everyone but it's just what I have been looking for, and it was calling my name.

I LOVE this club. For me and my swing it puts the ball on an ideal trajectory to maximize my distance potential. I'm getting much more carry than I'm used to. However, the best thing about this club is that it is SCARY staight!!! I can't believe how easy this club is to keep in the short grass. I tested many top drivers, most of which cost over $100 more, and this one bested all of them. For the price and performance it's an absolute steal.

Model Reviewed: Taylormade 420 Burner 10.5 Stiff

I started golf about 3 yrs ago, obsessed about the game, making several new driver purchases each year. i've been through a whole bunch of various qualities. I was never satisfied with my driving accuracy or length, kept slicing the ball. I took lessons again when i finally realized that the club had only so much to do with it. Oh boy was i wrong!! this club is phenomenal. i shot in the 90s before, spraying the ball everyone, long =250 but left and rght, unplayable. I took out this club for demo twice, was ecstatic about my performance, so i bought a stiff flex 10.5. played yest with it for the first time. hit 11/14 fairways, made eagle and birdies, looooong 260-270 (long for me). my usual fairways before this may have been about 3/14. i can't say enought about this club, and for the price, unbelievable. demo it now!!! i can work the ball left, right at will, hit it long and high for carry. chose the higher lofts to take advantage of distance. anyone want my 200 steel driver????

HI i'm 15 years old and i have been useing the older cobra i was hitting it about 230. Then i switched to the 420 and and it has increased my distance to 260. I hit the ball a lot better than the cobra so i'm very happy with this club.

Model Reviewed: TaylorMade 420

Played now two seasons (about 20 rounds per year). I have had a Ben Sayers cheap model from the beginning and mostly played with lake balls. Usually I hit about 250 yards (on good days straight shots, on bad days all slices and hooks were possible). Then, in the end of the season I tried some new Top Flight distance balls and yes, I could hit consistently 270 yards from the tee. Then I decided to spend some money and tried all possible TM drivers. I decided to take 420 (stiff, 9,5 degrees) because it felt good and was a bit cheaper than 540. And the result: I am now consistently hitting over 300 yards dead straight shots. The feel is not bad with this club as they say; you can tell from the feel and sound whether the shot was good or not. Too poor my short game still sucks badly.:)

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made R420

I read great reviews on the R420 and decided to trade in my Cobra 427 for it. It's a great club for the money: very forgiving and the most consistent I've ever hit. The feel at impact, however, isn't as satisfying as the Cobra 427 (that was a blast to hit) and I don't think this club is as long as some others. When I've made really good swings with this club the results aren't as good as with the Cobra. However, when I make a bad swing, the ball defintely stays closer to the fairway than any other driver I've hit. If you're looking for a consistent driver at a very reasonable price, look no farther. If you want a driver that will reward great swings with the longest results, you might be better off with another driver. Overall, though, I'm very satisfied with the club.
