Burner 420 Stiff
I'm a beginner (playing about 2 months) and I've demoed every newer driver out there. Was going to "settle" for a Cobra 350 w/Stiff shaft. I sprayed the ball everywhere with this club, but this was the only club avail for my beginner level. Couldnt hit the Launcher or Redline if my life depended on it. Now I dont know my swing speed, and judging by the other guys, it must be slow, about 85-90mph because I'm really concentrating on the swing mechanics still and the ball isnt going 300 yards like everyone else. Anyways, the furthest I could hit the Cobra is about 210 yards straight but it was not very confidence inspiring because when hit in the exact same spot, it was still unpredictable for me. With the exact same swing and mechanics, I could launch the ball straight almost every time with the Burner 420. The ball feels quite dull at impact however, and if you're into ball feel, I would suggest the cobra or adams redline. I'm consistently hitting 200-210 yds now, not bad for somebody playing for 2 months. I can hit a 5 wood about the same distance, but in a few months, I should be able to get a lot more distance out of this club with a faster swing speed. If you're the player that keeps the driver in the bag all 18 holes because it's too inconsistent, then you should definitely check out this driver. For the price and performance, it just cant be beat. This is truly a weapon. The shaft is a little shorter than the Cobra, when compared side by side by about an inch. Maybe this is why it is much more consistent? Customer Service Never used Similar Products Used: Adams Redline, Cobra 427, 350, Cleveland Launcher, GBBII |

very nice driver, but don't kid yourself. this thing is very, very short. shorter than my j-vs/660tr tour spec combo, shorter than my 455DB/purple ice combo, shorter even than my old quadpro titanium with PF 65 stiff. a very, very forgiving driver -- if you swing at 100 mph or less, it will get you in the fairway with decent distance. if you are a longer hitter, look elsewhere -- i'm at least 15-20 yards short of my other drivers. don't want to disparage this club -- for the right golfer, it might be great -- but it isn't long by any stretch of the imagination. an easy swing (90-95 mph) gets you 210 in the fairway. hope i don't get killed for this review. . . |

Taylor Made 420 Burner Driver
I was in the market for a new driver and had read reviews about this club both hear and abroad. Not a believer, I demoed this club without partiality for about 2 weeks. Compared against the Adams Redline, Cobra 427, Callaway Gbb11 and Titleist ,,, This club is incredible. VEry straight and long. I am a powerful swinger 6' 230 and swing about 115 mph with a driver and was able to use the 60 gram stiff model with 9.5 degree... Don't oversing because it will hook but overall the 2nd longest driver on the market.. Only the Titlelist is longer by only a couple of yards but not as forgiving... Recently bought this club after reading several reviews. I was not disappointed! I have never felt more confident over the ball with any driver. I took it to the range and proceded to put several balls into orbit. The first round I shot was the lowest I have been in years. Highly recommended. Customer Service Havn't used. |

I was very impressed witht his club when I hit it on the range in a 30mph wind. It was longer and straighter than anything I tried in the last few months. On the course a few days later, I confirmed my initial joy with effortless long drives that stayed in the short grass. The one time I tried to crank it up, I payed the price, with my only OB of the day. The club. I bought had the standard TM lite shaft, regular flex. The large face of the club, it's light weight and balance make it very easy to hit. Yes, it' a big puppy, but after a few drives, it instills confidence. I like the indented lines on the top of the club. They help with alignment.I am finding areas on the courses I play that I have never been to before... long and in the short grass I am extremely pleased with this club. I only wish it wasn't made in CHINA! Customer Service NA Similar Products Used: Ping ISI, Titleist975J, Taylor Made 580 |

It took some work on range but this is a fine driver. A bit longer than my prior driver a GBBI. Swing easier & ball flys. Very forgiving, almost silly on some of the swings I put on it. I tried out the Launcher. I found it the qualities much the same as the 420. I thought the 420 was clearly longer for me by about 10 yards on off-center hits. Frankly price played a role too. I could get the 420 cheaper. For some reason, this is almost a stealth driver. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Launcher 400.& 330. GBBI & II |

I tried this club into the net at a golf show and it felt good and after reading all you guys about it I bought one. 10.5 regular shaft. I was at the range a hour later. First 5 or six all over the place but after adjusting my set up I started to go straight and long. I looked at the clubface after each one and hardly hit any on the sweet spot and they still went well. This was my first time at the range or anywhere this year so I cant wait till I zero in on the sweet spot. If you hit it close it makes a great crack. I have been very inconsistant with my drives last year and the day at the range with this club was very consistant inspite of being all over the club face. I also bought a sonartec 01 14degree 3 wood and it was the best. I will report back later with a update. Taylor Made R420 Burner 9.5
I have been looking for a driver to suit my swing for a long time. I bought the Taylor Made R420 Burner 9.5 for nearly 3 months now. First I had a little problem with the driver because the face was too deep and the shaft was a bit short for me as I was playing Taylor Made R320. After I changed the shaft to 45" YS-6 with X-S flex, I start finding the sweet spot. I took the Burner for two rounds of golf last week, and I was never happier with my driver.I hit every fairway and bombed two 300 yd drives. Others are around 250 yds. As far as forgiveness goes, I think it is same with the R320. But it is much longer!! By the way, the graphite shaft YS-6 by Graphite Design is also excellent. It is stiff and stable but has a really soft feel. |

Great Club! I'm one who usually relies on my irons off the tee boxes but this club is very easy to hit. Plus, I am able to draw the ball up off the tee to gain a few extra yards. Can't beat this driver for the price. |
