Ping G2 TFC 100 shaft
After trying most everything availble over last fall and winter I purchased my G2 this spring and I couldn't be happier with this driver. As a lefty, most other drivers set-up "closed" at address causing the fear of a hook. This club sets up very squarely and the 460cc head promotes confidence. Distance is better, for me at least, than anything else I've tried. Surprisingly, mis-hits travel about as far a solid shots. Another positive about this club is that I'm able to draw it or fade it as needed. My natural shot is a draw and this is the first driver I've found that my controlled fade doesn't turn into a wild slice. I wasn't able to try different shafts or lofts when I bought my G2 but the TFC 100 regular flex w/ 10 degrees loft fits me nicely. I don't know my swing speed but I hit a Ping 7 iron 145 yards and this driver about 240 (in the fairway). This is a much better club than any other driver Ping has ever made. I'm not going to tell you that I always hit this club well or that it swings itself but, compared to all the others I've tried, this is definitely my favorite. Customer Service Didn't use for this club but past experience w/ Ping has been great. Ping G2 11.5* Graffalloy Blue Stiff Driver
I am very pleased with this club. Just bought it today on sale at my pro shop (Salem Golf Club, Salem, OR). I hit over 400 balls trying out various driver/loft/shaft combinations between the Titleist 905T and the Ping G2. I am a Titleist fan and it was hard to admit that I was much more consistent with Ping. After deciding on the Ping G2, I had to narrow down my choices on loft and shaft. I determined after 100 swings/hits that the 11.5* loft was the one for me. My swing speed is 95-99mph (driver), 85mph 5 iron. I have a fairly good well-taught swing. I am 5'8" and 190lbs. I really liked the proprietary TFC 100D shaft and was going to go with the TFC 100D in stiff. Then I compared it to the Graffalloy Blue in stiff and after my pro walked by and told me to slow it down to 75-80% effort I found my groove and all I saw hit after hit was straight and long (for me). At about 95mph I was regularly hitting it 235yds with roll (215-220 carry). I'm fine with that and a straight hit down the fairway at 230yds will suit my game well. I highly recommend getting lessons from a competent pro (not a well-meaning golfing friend) before being fitted to groove a proper swing. Then have him fit you for your swing speed/style/preference. I'm a traditionalist in golf equipment (love forged blades...play 690.CB's) and am usually brand loyal, but I am extremely pleased with the Ping G2 and highly recommend you include it in your selection of clubs to try out. I've been golfing for over 35 years and let me tell you, I would much rather drive it 230yds straight than 280yds in the rough...any day of the week! Learn to feel your swing instead of learning this or that gimmick of a technique. What a awsome club! The G2 is a amazing piece of equiment. I think the prolaunch shat is perfect for it because it gives it a little less spin for more yards. I dont think im buying a new driver for a very long time. Similar Products Used: Cobra 380, callaway big bertha. Both were not to great. |

Ping G2 8.5* NV stiff
I just went out to my local Golf Discount and 'test drove' 5 of the top name drivers. A disclaimer: I hit one of these out at a driving range the other night and really liked it a lot. The difference is that it was a 10* and had the ProLaunch shaft. This particular driver was tough to judge because it was an 8.5*. All other drivers I hit were 9.5 or higher. I was not pleased with the ball flight or the fact that no matter how hard I tried, I tended to hit a slight fade with it. When I tried to draw it, I would inevitably hit a nasty hook. As I stated earlier, I hit a 10* and the ball flight was totally different. A high, boring, soaring trajectory that would make Tiger proud. I was able to work it fairly well too. I can only conclude that either the shaft (NV 65-S) and/or the loft was causing me problems. I love the shaft and it was in most everything else I hit so I can't believe it was that. For reference purposes, I hit the following drivers/shafts (all were stiff flex): Callaway 454 10* NV Ping G2 8.5* NV Hogan C-S3 9.5* NV Cleveland Comp 460 10.5* stock Titleist 905t 9.5* NV If I would have been purchasing one of the above drivers on the spot, it would have been the Cleveland. I have to almost give this driver a grade of 'Incomplete', but I know that it is a great driver with the right combination of loft and shaft. I bounced several balls off (and over) the 300 yd fence at the driving range with the 10* too, so it is plenty long. Customer Service Never used. Similar Products Used: See above. |

ping g2 8.5 aldila nv65 stiff
I like to say i dont usually write reviews on too many things, but i had too with this work of art. This driver is by far the best i have ever hit,i recently was hitting a r7 with a harmon tour shaft, nice driver but not the longest or most forgiving on off center hits.I picked up a G2 8.5 with a nv65 stiff, this thing is a monster, and on miss hits it still goes a long way.Needless to say the r7 is out of the picture,do yourself a favor and go hit one.Wow Similar Products Used: Every Titlest,r7,hawkeye,580,bang 450,launcher,steelhead,c4.etc |

Ping G2 Driver
Tried out new drivers at a local golf store before business trip to UK. Wound up buying irons instead. Really wanted the new driver though so on the day I flew back I went straight to the store, tried out several of the new drivers in the $300 price range and based on test hits this one had a slight advantage over the best of the others and was quite a bit better than some. Went driectly to the local course and didn't even have time to go to the range before I got paired up with a group and teed off. The 1st 2 or 3 drives were not good, but once I got the feel of the club I was consistently outdriving the rest of my foursome, and hitting the f fairway regulary. They were all in their 20's and I'm in my 50's. On one very unusual par 4 (it's only about 290 yards long but with the greem tuck around the corner and protected by mounds and traps) I actually had to hit BACK to the green after driving past it. I've only played with it one more time since then. That was with my father-in-law who plays about 3-4 times a week and still drives the ball about 240 and shoots 70's to low 80's at 76 years old (it just isn't fair). Again no warmup due this time to rainy conditions, Still got very good in the fairway drives with good distance. Until we had to take a rain break and had a couple of beers while waiting to go back out. What happened after that had more to do with Budwieser than Ping ;-) It seems to provide that elsuive combination of distance and forgiveness as long as you make even a decent swing. Would recommend taking a hard look at this club if you are considering a new driver in this price range. Ping G2 10 degree X-stiff TFC
I saw the Ping demo van at my course one day and decided to try out some new sticks. It was very hot and sticky that day, around 96 degrees, so not many people took advantage of the situation. As a result their number one fitter was able to spend over 2 hours of quality time with me. You can see him in the Ping commercials. Anyway, I am tall(6'4" 190lbs) and hit the ball a mile. I was carrying whatever 6 iron he gave me around 195 yards. The dispersion varied depending on the shaft. After a bunch of swings He then handed me a G2 driver 10 degrees with a stock TFC shaft in EXTRA-stiff flex. This shaft has a soft tip. Since I don't have a violent move from the top(like a Nick Price) I don't need a tip stiff driver like I was playing before. My dispersion with this new shaft was incredible. My miss was a hook in the past. I tried hooking this club for him and could not. Now my miss was a soft fade with lots of carry. I can aim left now at not worry about hitting out of bounds left. My driver head speed is around 120mph and I can swing the red speed stick over 130mph -to give you some helpful stats. I hit 2 types of drives when I play and neither one is planned for the most part. One type is the high soft shot that lands softly and the other is the boring, piercing shot that rolls forever. Even as a two-handicapper I can't hit the same tee shot all the time. (The 80 shooters on here that say they work the ball baffles me!) My high soft drive carries between 275-295 and sits down. My piercing drive carries about 270 and might roll 50 yards depending on conditions. I wish I could patent the piercing drive. Maybe one day when I become a +1 or +2 handicap or better I might be able to control the ball flight more and hit that shot exclusively. This G2 driver is amazing and I highly recommend it for accuracy above anything else. I finally found a driver that I can hit long and not worry about where it is going. My first three rounds with it in tournaments were 72,71 and 74(combined score of +1)despite mediocre putting and on very long golf courses. This is one of the few drivers out there with a square face. Most drivers are 2,3 or even 5 degrees closed designed for slicers. If the tee shot is holding you back from reaching that next level get fit for this driver. I am confident I will break par more often with this in my bag...BTW I also bought the G2 irons!!! Customer Service Incredible! Fitters are highly knowledgeable. My irons were custom fit. Lofts were adjusted, shafts needed to be stepped etc,,,and yet they were delivered to my course 5 days after ordering. When you call and speak to a rep they are very informative as well and are happy to track your order Similar Products Used: Cleveland Comp 460, Taylor Made R7 TP, Taylor R510 TP, Mizuno Mp-001 460, Callaway Fusion, Titelist 983K, Taylor Made R580XD, Nike Ignite 460, Yes I tried them all just about,,,,,,, |

Ping G2 driver
So, til now I have not reviewed anything, but I've relied heavily on what people have said to make the decision on some other gear that I own, so I thought I would contribute. First, as has been said many times before, there's no driver out there that's going to cure your problems if you don't spend time working on the fundamental mechanics, that said, this driver is awesome! Ping has really, really done their homework on this driver, right down to the stock shaft. My swing speed is about 110 mph and I really don't have issues with getting a nice trajectory, though at times I get some ballooning. I went to a local golf retailer and tried the Ping in a 10 degree loft with three different shafts, the stock shaft, the grafalloy blue and the Aldila NV65, all in still flex. Additionally I hit the Taylormade R5 dual, the Cleveland 460 Comp, and the Mizuno MP-001. As far as looks go, they all look pretty good. I'm used to playing the Cleveland 400 titanium, so all the heads looked a lot larger, but none looked too large. I wasn't sure whether the larger head would affect the feel of the club, like I was swinging a rock at the end of a stick. They all felt good and balanced. From there I just hit a bunch of balls and let the analyzer tell me which gave me the best results. The Ping G2 with the stock shaft out did them all. It's a great feeling, sounding, and balanced club. First round out with it I shot an 82 at one of the harder courses in the area and that instills confidence. The biggest advise to any looking into this club, go down and hit it with all three shaft options...they're all very different. Also, try a bunch of clubs on an analyzer and see which gives you the numbers you're looking for...here are mine: 14.5 degree launch angle, distance 257 yards. Good luck Customer Service have not needed it Similar Products Used: Cleveland Launcher 400, Mizuno MP-001, Taylormade R5 Dual |

Ping G2 driver 8.5 degrees with a ProLaunch Blue XS shaft
This club is a beast. Sweetest driver I've ever had. Traded in my Titleist 975D that i couldn't bear to part with for so long. The great thing about this club is, that with no grooves on the sweet spot, you get the maximum amount of roll possible. My swing speed with this driver is about 120 mph, so people with higher swing speeds I would definitely recommend the ProLaunch shaft that is available. |
