Ping G2
I took up golf about 7 years ago and like many other golfers I have been on a quest to find that perfect driver that is just right for me. The search for the holy grail is over for me I have the G2 10.5 degree with the Adila NV Stiff. I have owned approx 12 drivers in the last 7 years and most of them in the last couple of years. Prior to the G2 I was using the Taylor Made R540 but unfortunately the face started to cave in. I emailed Taylor Made and got no reply, so it made my decision a lot easier as I had narrowed my new choice down to the Taylor Made R5 and Ping G2, based on reviews, previous experience and the fact that these 2 manufacturers make great clubs and that you can sell them on if your quest continues. I got the chance to try this club before I bought it and my first impression when I held it was that it was a very visually appealing club that set up beautifully behind the ball and not too much offset. Far too many drivers have got too much offset for my liking which has caused me many problems in the past hooking the ball the only club that didn't do this was the R540. When I first hit the G2 the ball came off the face hot and high but seemed to drop down to earth quickly but was very straight. I have waited until I have played several rounds before I posted this review and I can tell you that now I have got used to it the ball flight is not as high and the hang time is much better, still very forgiving and lots of roll it is no longer than the R540 but the R540 had the .860 COR (legal here in Australia). But the problem I had with the stock Taylor Made shaft was that I would hit either a big hook or a big slice whereas the G2 I am in the fairway almost every time. Overall the G2 is a very good driver with this shaft, the head does not look too intimidating and the shaft doesn't seem too long it just inspires a lot of confidence. I think I expected too much from the club at first and when I just stopped trying too hard to make it happen and just let the club do the work that was when I really saw how good this baby is! A bad swing will still hit a bad shot but if you have a half decent swing and swing within yourself and just let it happen you will be rewarded with good results. So the quest is over for me I know one thing if I ever buy another driver I will keep this one, I will not sell it on. Well done Ping! Ping G2 10.5deg / Stiff Aldia shaft
I used to swear at my driver but after putting the G2 in my bag 7 months ago I swear by it. In my opinion this driver is the standard in the industry. In this day and age of movable weights and carbon composite crowns, the G2 still maintains a huge and loyal following because this driver just simply performs. Next time at the range take a look at how many have that huge G2 logo stiched into the headcover sticking out of their bags. The sound and feel of this club is absolutely outstanding and distance is a non issue. I'll admit that I was intrigued by all the drivers out there with internal/external weighting that claims to help my ball flight to draw rather than my natural cut from left to right. But after getting fitted on a launch monitor there was no comparison. Even the R5 I tried with draw bias didn't have the distance or ball flight of the G2. Now don't get me wrong TM makes great drivers, but just not as great as Ping. Here is what sold me, Darby at Golf Etc. in San Clemente, CA put the G2 in my hands and with 1 swing I hit the ball and looked on the monitor to see the ball fade but travel 300 yards. Now I know that launch monitors tend to exaggerate distance, but that is all the proof I needed that this was the right driver for me. After owning this club 7 months I still have no complaints and my drives have gotten longer and much straighter as my swing constantly improves. Raise your hand if you own one of these beasts and you've had someone in your group on Saturdays ask if they could give it a swing after seeing you just launch one down the middle. I know my hand is up. I'm thinking about buying up a stockload of the G2's cause I may never want to hit another driver ever. Customer Service Not needed. Ping G2 driver
I recently bought a G2 with 11.5 loft and a pro launch blue shaft. The combo gave me a hook like there was no tomorrow. I hook or draw the ball anyway but it was ridiculous. I changed shafts to a Harmon Tour Design regular flex. It's the same shaft that I had in my Taylormade 580xd and was comfortable with it. It straightened my shot right out. Now the only time I hook it is when I really go after it. My conclusion with this driver is it's awesome. When people say "I hit the ball 20 yards farther" I was always a little leary. But I fly this thing in the air a good 20 to 30 yards farther. I have a set group that I play with and pretty much know how far everyone hits it off the tee. I hit drives that I have never hit before and we are getting absolutely no roll this time of year. My group cannot beleive it. This thing goes high and far. I am sold on this club. I kind of want to try a diffrent shaft combo so I can really go after it and not have to worry about hooking it so much. I played a Titleist 976j, TM 540, TM580xd and never was ther e a distance change like there is with this club. I love it Customer Service not used it Similar Products Used: Titleist 976j 10.5,Taylormade 540 12.0, Taylormade 580xd 12.0-10.5 |

Ping G2 Driver
This is a follow up review for this driver. I own a G2 460 11.5* with a senior shaft. When I wrote my first review I was shooting in the 90's, mid to high 90's. 3 months later I am shooting in the 80's and just had a 78! Need I say more? I out hit just about every woman and a few men at my golf club! I have hit drives 265-275 yards. My handicap has gone down 7.5 strokes! My miss hits are still in the fairway and still long. This is my 6th year of playing golf and I didn't start playing golf until I was 49! I don't know what the G5 has to offer over this driver, I wouldn't change drivers even if I got another one for free! Ping really got this one right!! Customer Service Ping has the best in the business! I have always had wonderful results the few times I needed them. Ping G2, 10 deg, stiff shaft
Have used a Ping TiSi (8.5 deg stiff shaft) for years, and always liked it. Tried many others, but never found anything significantly better. Until now. I hit several combinations of loft and shafts, finally picking the 10 degree with Aldila NV 65S shaft. Initial results after a dozen rounds have been spectacular. I'm a reasonably long hitter anwyay, usually around the 270 yard range on good ones with my old club, but the extra 15-20 yards from this driver is always welcome. Main benefit however is that mis-hits are still fairly long and straight. Bad swings are still bad; I can still hit an ugly duck hook with this, but reasonable ones produce remarkably good results and those occasional perfect swings are extraordinary. There's more of them too - I am now much more likely to attempt the 250 yard carry over fairway bunkers than before, and am making a lot more of those shots than I ever have. Interestingly, my regular golf buddy bought a Taylor Made R5 Dual about the same time I picked up the Ping. He hits a high draw to my straight or soft fade ball. We hit very similar distances with every club in the bag, except now for the driver - I am consistently 10-15 yards longer off the tee in total, much longer carry but a bit less roll. So far, outstanding. Final judgement is reserved till I play on a really windy day. The main reason I stuck with my old driver for so long was that I could control the flight in the wind better than with any other club I tried. It remains to be seen whether this one does the same job, but my expectations are high. Now all I need is a short game to match! Customer Service Untested - never had any problems with previous Ping products. Similar Products Used: Ping TiSi - still a great club. Titleist various models, 975, 983 etc - all good but not outstanding. Callaway GBB and Hawkeye - very easy to hit, but difficult to hit low or high. Many other models from Cleveland, Taylor Made, Cobra, Nike etc. Some good, but none better. |

Ping G2 Driver
I had to play with my new driver for a few months to give a good honest review. It all started with a search to increase height plus distance after my partial knee replacement surgery. I initially went with the 10 degree with prolaunch stiff shaft and it did not feel right. I still could not get the ball with the nice high trajectory that I was looking for. I took it back to US Golf and went with a 11.5 degree and added the new fugi pro shaft (Stiff). It has the nice shiney chrome look. The combo of the 11.5 with the high bend point of the fugi shaft was the perfect match. The ball does not balloon but does have the nice high boring flight that I was looking for. At 55 yrs old and recently had knee surgery in January, this club/shaft was the perfect fit for me. The clubhead and shaft are beauful together and perform accordingly! I went and demoed one based on the reviews on this site. The first drive I hit was over 280 with a slight draw, hitting a 10 degree loft with a stiff shaft. I was hooked. I hit another driver, and it felt worse than my old Titlest 975d. I looked at the tape on the club head after about 10 swings and saw that most were arond the center of the club. I didn't even try another club after that. I got the club for an incredible $244 at the PGA Superstore in Atlanta, GA! Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Titlest 975d |

PING G2
I never thought I would own a PING driver. To me they make a darn fine putter as I still have the Ping Zing 2. Orignally I had my heart set on the Callaway 454. I needed a upgrade from my TM 300 Series driver..The PING just felt so solid though. It looks great at address, and the solid feel just shoots right through the right arm...shots with this club are going between 240-270, and even if they are not down the pipe, they are in the ballpark..I would recomend this driver to ANYONE out there going w/ the big headed drivers.. the PING G2 is 460cc..I also got the club with the Adila 65s shaft..perfect match.. Customer Service have not used it yet Similar Products Used: Callaway 454 |

Ping G2 Driver
I just purchased Ping's G2 Driver, 10 deg, Aldila stiff shaft. I've used Orlimar 420 (long, but fade machine), Launcher 460 Titanium (very good), Launcher Comp (very good/long, but draw bias), and the G2 wins. Trajectory is medium-high, boring, carries long, and extremely straight. Not much roll; I may put some lead tape on to bring down trajectory slightly so I get a little more roll. I am not what you call a Ping fan. I don't believe in cast irons, I use Mizuno MP32s. BUT, I have to concede Ping has a new BIG fan in the driver realm. I'm 5'9", 190 (hockey player build) and hit this driver - long and very straight. On practice course, I made a hook swing and the ball (ProV1) simply drew to the first cut on left side; next, I block/pushed a ball terribly and the ball was only 10 yards right of fairway - not in the woods! The rest were down the middle. The best part of the driver is that I don't feel a need to compensate for the club's bias - it goes right where I anticipate it to go. If/when I make a bad swing, it somehow doesn't allow the ball to "get away" from me. I was not hitting down-wind either. I just could not believe how straight the ball went, and long. I am excited to attack some holes I haven't been lately. The Launcher Comp is longer (mostly from roll - I hit it lower), but runs into the rough or dives left (hard sometimes). I miss the length on wide open holes, but trade that for the ability to hit driver (with G2) where I would only hit 3 wood before. Because I can stay closer to Fred Funk territory (fairway), there will be more pars/birdies and less bogies or worse! I bought from Golf Smith and they have a 90/90 deal (I don't work there) where they allow you to buy a club/driver and return within 90 days and apply 90% of original money spent on whatever else - if the new Ping G5 is what they say it is, longer and straighter, which is hard to believe, I'm getting it. Customer Service Not used, though I did call Ping and ask a lot of questions - they were very helpful. Similar Products Used: Orlimar 420, Cleveland Launchers |
