Couldn't help being disappointed with this club. It has the Aldila NVS stiff shaft. I bought it to replace my Cobra 440SZ stiff shaft which gave up the ghost.

The theory was that this would be an all round classier affair with better feel and more control - without sacrificing much distance.

In comparison to the Cobra the MX-500 hits 40 yards shorter and is possibly less accurate. The only benefit is the lack of the head-splitting CRACK! the Cobra makes on impact.

Not sure what to do now... possibly grab one of the remaining Cobras on ebay.

I had not played for the past 6 months when I decided to get back into the game. My handicap was around 11-12 so I thought it would take me a while. However, I bought a new Mizuno MX500 on eBay and used it for the first time today, in my first game in six months. I don't know if I just played more relaxed, or if suddenly my golf mechanics just clicked, but this stick added an average 45 yards to my drives and did so without my customary "power-fade." Straight, long, consistent to the point I wanted to hit the driver on every hole. It does what it says - squares the face at contact - helping you to hit straight with excellent roll. Even with the Exsar regular shaft coupled with this 10.5* head, there was excellent trajectory and remarkable control. I shot a 43-38 on a relatively difficult course and hit fairways better than 90%. I was most amazed, however, that my drives were considerably longer than before when I was hitting a TM R580XD with a Vista Pro shaft. I'll reshaft the club with the VP70, which I think fits my swing better, but I have to say...this is one driver that lived up to the hype!

Originally had a MP001 following Hot Sticks fitting. Loved it so seemed logical to get the new MX500. The problem is that the new Exsar shafts are not as stiff as the older models.
I have since switched to a Nippon shaft and I am delighted with the results. Launch angle is 12 to 15 Degrees and spin of around 2750. I have about a 96 MPH swing speed and hit it about 250 carry but the big thing is that it is down the middle.
The club sets up very neutral, a lot of people will notice a big difference from closed face Cobras or Callaways etc. Muted sound when hit this is a sweet club.
Throughly recommend this club to everyone, high hncp guys will appreciate its easy to get in the air and low hncp guy will like its workability. (Draws Fades are easy)
Make sure you have the right shaft and enjoy a very good club that can be had for a great price.

I love the set-up (square). I love the sound (muted). I love the piercing, penetrating flight. This is a very easy driver to hit straight. I'm using a Graffaloy Pro-Launch stiff shaft. I feel really comfortable with this club - like I'll hit many, many fairways, and with excellent distance.

Have only played this driver once and one time at range.Purchased this one because I love my MX900 irons, seemed great in the net, and had given my son the R7.This driver is very easy to control, fade or draw, but seems to be be much shorter than my R7 and SQ. It is 9.5 with stock Mizuno stiff flex shaft.Great look at set up and nice crisp sound at impact- just too short!

This would be a great driver for someone looking to keep the ball in play and not caught up in the distance game.

Model Reviewed: MX500 9.5* Aldila NV65S

Just purchased this driver after testing the various shafts available. This club is excellent. It looks great at address and has a lovely solid sound on impact. The Aldila upgrade shafts are excellent. The NVS65S(orange) gives a higher flight than the NV65(green) as the NV is tip firm and as such was the one for me as I have a natural high drive. Compared to similar drivers it is great value for money and inspires confidence off the tee. Imparts less spin to the ball and as such drives do not balloon and keep a piercing flight. I am a big Mizuno fan and finally feel that I have got my moneys worth for a Mizuno driver at last! In summary; great value, great looks, great shafts, nice balance, accurate and very powerful. Give it a try you wont be disapointed but pay attention when choosing your shaft.

I purchased the MX-500 with the stock shaft and a 10.5 degree loft. I did not have a chance to go to the range before I played a round. I am not the best ball striker and some times I comne off plane during my down swing and sometimes slice it or hook it. I have never been able to hit it real far normally about 230-250 if it is strait. On the first hole
(a long downhill par5)I took a few more practice swings than normal to get used to it. When I hit it it felt like I got it a little on the toe but it still went straight down the fairway and about 270. I would recomend this club to anyone who doesnt have a perfect swing and is looking to be more consistent on the tee.

Model Reviewed: Mizuno MX-500 10.5 degree

Buy or Sell?.....BUY BUY BUY! This club is fantastic! I have been a huge Mizuno fan for years (I play the MP-60 irons with the Fli-Hi hybrids and a MP-001 4 wood) and the MX-500 does not dissapoint. True to Mizuno's mission, this club offers wonderfully enginered technology combined with great aesthetics to create the most accurate and longest driver on the market.

Some playing experiences: This driver has a naturally low trajectory. My ball flight is generally higher (my two previous drivers were an 8.5 degree 975J and then a 9 degree MP-001). I was very nervous about going to a 10.5 degree, but I had heard that the ball flight was very low with the MX-500...it is!* My ball flight with the 10.5 is similar to that of my previous 9 degree...I would even consider going to the 11.5 degree for improved accuracy.
This club is much more playable then the MP was. I have a natural draw ball flight, this club allows me to cut the ball if need be, or hit a low straight stinger.
The MX has great feel. Of all the 460 cc drivers I tried, the MX felt the best on mis-hits. Last weekend I hit a 306 yard drive, off the toe and it felt incredible!
Auditory performance is huge with me as well...this club sounds great! As opposed to the tin can sound of the new r7, or the "empty" sound of the Nike SasQuatch, the MX sounds solid; again on mis-hits or on the sweet spot.

That's all for now! Buy this driver!

* Hit this driver at an open air range before purchasing if possible, you will need to go up in loft...but don't worry, you wont lose distance!

This is the best driver on the market. I have a fade that will normally get me in the trouble on the course and cost me many strokes. This driver got rid of my fade completly and now i can hit it dead straight. My normal driver yardage is around 200. With this driver its around 275. This Driver is incredibly forgiving and had mad power. Its also a great Value.
