MP-001 9 degree NV65 Stiff
I never thought I would change from my Tsunami driver, but the MP-001 made a believer out of me. The Tsunami was long, but the shaft was a little too unpredictable. I bought the 9 degree MP with the NV65 stiff shaft, and I've never hit anything else this well. It's a beautiful, traditional-looking club, even with the composite crown; It doesn't look like 400cc, probably because of the deep face. The trajectory is awesome; The ball takes off like a bullet, and straight. The shaft has a lot to do with it, I'm sure. Distance is very good, and very consistent. I also like the sound of impact. Not ear-ringing like a lot of Ti drivers, but not too muted either. A nice "THWACK!" This head/shaft combination is perfect for me because I battle hooks & pulls, and it's not as easy for me to do with this driver. I can still draw it if I have to, but it takes a little work. I can fade it with no problem, but straight is my most common result with the MP-001. This one will be in the bag for a long time. Mizuno Mp 001 10 degree w/ Harrison Striper Tour Stiff 70
What can I say this Driver is great. The launch angle is definite. I got rid of the stock Exsar 60 Stiff shaft, it had too much torque for me. Clubs sets up and sits nicely, has great weight and clubhead feel. I am consistently hitting the driver from 275-305 yards, and i know where it is going. I highly recommend this club to anyone with a respectable swing and game!!! The new Harrison Striper Tour shaft is awesome!!!!!! Customer Service Haven't dealt with them yet. But were very open in giving specs on product and shaft options. Similar Products Used: Cleveland Launcher 400, Ping T-ISI, Ping I3, Taylor Made 540, 580, TP. |

In my judgement only golfers with a handicap of 8 or below should buy this club. If your a weekend duffer like most of you are, don't waist your money...the driver will be waisted in your bag. Only players with golfing acumen can work this club left or right which is what the manufactor intended this driver for. 9 handicaps and up hackers should buy a Bazooka or Golfsmith driver..your not worthy of anything more....sorry. I average 290 off the tee and my flight path is a draw. I am very impressed with the MP's accuracy and mite I say I'm not impressed to easily. The MP is a fine addition to my game which is already fantastic, I believe It will help guide me consistantly in the high 60's very soon |

Mizuno MP-001
After lots of club demos I chose the MP-001 400 cc, 10* with the NV 65 stiff shaft. Club is VERY solid feeling and balls jump off the face. So far I've found it to be very accurate with fairly good, although not great, distance. I have a quick tempo and overswinging with this club for me results in quick hooks, which still seem to stay in play and carry fairly well. A smooth tempo (don't I wish I could do that on every swing)results in medium high draws that are easy to control and carry in the 265-280 range. This is the most solid feeling driver I have hit in recent memory. I would recommend that anyone considering this club demo different lofts and shafts to get the best result. It's worth the effort. Customer Service Demo guys were great. All types of loft/shaft combinations available to try and they really take the time to work with you. (Also excellent with iron fitting.) 9 Deg. MP-001 (400cc) w/ Stiff YS-6 Shaft
I've probably tried all of the current drivers in various shaft combinations, and if your swing characteristics are like mine, then you should give the MP-001 a try. I have a smooth tempo w/ a swing speed in the high 90's. My biggest problems with the current crop of oversize drivers has been (1) appearance at address; (2) a tendency to hit moon shots, whether I strike the ball on the way up or the way down; and (3) an inability to predict ball flight. As a result, I find myself in trouble off the tee far too often. They go high and straight, which isn't always the plan. When I first demo'ed the MP-001, I loved the control and trajectory, but I was frustrated with inconsistent and poor distance. After playing around with a few things, I realized that my problem was the high teeing position I had become accustomed to with the 580XD, Titleist K, etc. By teeing the ball lower (and by that I mean a standard length tee at normal height or even a little lower), I discovered that could hit draws with roll about 255, and controlled fades about 235. So, I now love this club, and the ability to control trajectory and shape with perfectly acceptable distance for my swing speed. Because so much of my handicap has been built by difficulties with the driver, I'm starting to break into the 70's far more frequently. Customer Service No experience with Mizuno; excellent with Inverness Golf where I bought this club. Mizuno MP001
Being a lefty, I had only 1 choice as far as head size is concerned. My other drivers-Titleist 983K and Cobra SS380- are smaller in size and I'd prefer the 370cc head.I sold my Taylor Made 580 which was I think 400cc. I did not care for the sound and forgiveness. This is my 3rd Mizuno driver- Tzoid forged and Blue Rage previousily and this is the best driver Mizuno has made. I like the sound and feel at impact. It is comparable if not farther in distance then any of my previous drivers. I demoed the Callaway Fusion and did not care for it.I purchased the club through leftiesonly and got a good price. Well to contrast the last guy I bought one of these and am really happy with it. In the last 12 months I've owned, not hit 3 times, a 983k, 510 and GBB2, none of which I could hit better than my old steel warbird. I had a 320 a few years ago which was long but as with all the above went all over the place. Well the MP-001 has been great so far, about the same length wise as all the others, but I'm getting the control I expected from the 983k. Good club, and pretty cheap too compared to most other brands. If you want a club that goes fairly low I recommend you give one of these a try. I've also noticed that the shaft on this is a bit shorter than other brands so perhaps thats where the better control is coming from. I have demoed several drivers in recent weeks, some playing golf, some hitting range balls. I think there are a lot of very good drivers out there and a couple great ones. The Mizuno happens to be neither great nor good. I have tried several that hit the ball much farther, and at the same time hit it much straighter. Maybe this particular club just doesn't fit my swing, regardless i'm not impressed. I wouldn't buy this with someone else's money... MP 001 400cc 10 degree w/ Graffalloy Blue Stiff
I have been searching for a new driver for months (I was hitting a Callaway Hawkeye VFT). I tried out Titleist, Taylor Made R540xd, Nike Ignite, Callaway ERC, Cleveland Launcher and probably a few others. Two of my friends recently purchased the Titleist 983K and are very happy with the club. When I tried it I hit it very well and assumed I would purchase one this spring. Then one of the salesmen suggested I try the Mizuno. I didn't know much about the club, but the sales guy had been very helpful (and patient) up to this point, so to be courteous, I said I would give it a try. I immediately started hitting balls much farther (280 yards) than the ERC and TM 540XD (240). I was even hitting it about 20-30 yard farther than the 983K. I also seemed to hit it straighter. I assumed I would have to sacrifice accuracy for distance or distance for accuracy. I seem to have both with this club. I have now taken it to the range twice and have played 7 rounds with it, and I am very happy I ended up with this club. I was surprised I ended up with the Blue shaft. I expected I would get the NV-65, but I actually hit it straighter and farther with the Blue. I would suggest trying it with different shafts before you buy. Just a little update on my previous post. I'm totally crushing the ball with this club. Hit my longest drive ever two days ago 410 yard par 4 I was roughly 50 yards from green then on next hole 510 yard par 5 and I was just a yard or two inside the 150 yard marker. Two drives of about 350 - 360 yards. Ive' always hit long drives but not like this. My previous long was about 320. Also before you go out and buy this driver as with any club hit it first. I've let a few other people hit my club and they hit it shorter than they did with there off brand clubs. I guess this club just fits my swing perfectly. Everyone has a different swing though so find the club that suits you befroe you go out and buy any driver that may not be right for you.
