This driver is a CANNON. I never thought that I would replace my Titleist 983E 8.5* w/ Aldila One R shaft because I hit that very well and long; however I couldn't resist the discounted price of the store demo MP-001 after hitting it in their golf simulator. Upon taking it to the range, I was surprised how quickly the ball left the face at impact. Thankfully this is a USGA conforming club, because someone could easily assume this it has an illegal COR. Repeat: IT IS LEGAL (.830). Drives on my previous driver ranged in the 220's-230's, but now I'm constantly in the 250's-260's thanks to the substantial carry and equally substantial roll afterwards. I felt that my previous driver in combination with it's shaft did not provide adequate roll after a nice long carry. Since my swing did not change overnight, I would attribute this gain in distance to the lightness of the MP-001 head and Exsar 60 R shaft. After a long, straight drive with the MP-001, I am usually close enough to the green on par 4's that I no longer need to use a three wood or utility club. On these holes, my second shot is usually with a mid-short iron or wedge to the green. Many pars or even birdies are possible due to the super long drives with the MP-001. The club is forgiving too. Impacts from rushed swings still leads to long shots that are still playable. I was debating if I should keep my previous driver, when my friend wisely suggested to continue practicing with my previous heavier driver for strength building, so that I could unleash that strength with the MP-001 on the course. Bottom line: you'll hit this driver farther than the driver you're currently using!

I'm going to keep it short and sweet, This is the best driver I've ever hit period. Long and incredibly straight every swing! Not the cheapest club out but by far not the most expensive, it just feels like it!!

I dont usually do any reviews but I have to with this driver. I have the 400cc model with the aldila NV stiff shaft (headspeed of about 112-115) Last season I had an x-stiff fujikura and it was simply too stiff. I would recommend most people just try this shaft if they have the same head speed. This driver is simply incredible. Extremely forgiving. Reasonably long. I may have lost a tiny bit of distance opposed to my cobra 427 last season but this one is sooooo much more forgiving and straight. Like i said I normally do not do any reviews but I had to with this club. I would highly recommend this club. I typically shoot in the 70's and am about a 6 handicap. I am 6'3" and do swing resonably fast. I hit this driver in the 275 range. As for those of you who are ripping 300+ yard drives please tell me what I am doing wrong or what concrete course you play on so I can do the same. I think that the majority of reviews on here need to be more realistic. Either i am a terribly short hitter compared to most reviewers or they are full of it..I'll chose the latter. None the less buy this club it is simply phenomenal and if it does the same for you as it did for me you will be very pleased. I also play the mp-30 irons and if I was to describe the feeling of the driver it is similar to the irons. Nice firm forged feeling through impact exceptionally solid not super hot feeling like some drivers.

Purchased driver on ebay with aldila nv stiff shaft after reading reviews here. The club is definitely straighter and longer than my tm 320 which I liked, Reached a par 5 today in two for the first time after hitting drive 295. I love the way the club sets up at address. You can really go after the ball with this shaft which lives up to the hype. I tried a tm 580 xd at range and though got good distance, clearly lacked control with the stock shaft. Hit a friends cleveland 460 with aldila shaft and it was nice but I much prefer the look and feel of the mizuno. I was unimpressed with callaway gbb 2. The mizuno has same technology as the new fusion but at a much greater price. Mizuno has a great driver to go along with its irons reputation

I have only one disagreement with most of the present reviews. This club is DEEP!!! I have picked up 15 yds (both on solid and mis hits) over my 983E. Both of my drivers have the same shaft (aldila NV 65 S) although, the mizuno has much better feel because the lack of the bore through hosel. I purchased a 9* mizuno and the ball flight is very comparable to my 9.5* E. The difference is ballflight is that the 001 has a slightly higher trajectory but, there is no ballooning what-so-ever it is very penetrating. This has resulted in more carry with the same amount of roll. I would definately recommend this driver. Also, I have been experimenting with new balls as, I never felt like I was getting consistent performance with the Pro V1x. I have recently tried the HX tour which is longer off the tee, but I don't care for the performance around the greens and the Srixon UR-X which is "the BOMB". I have picked up an additional 10-15 yds with the driver (that's right for a grand total of 25-30 yds over my previous 983E & prov1x combo) and one club stronger on the irons this ball also performs great around the greens, has a very durable cover and excellent feel. I Love it. I hope this review helps.

Model Reviewed: 9 Degree, Aldila NV Shaft (S-Flex)

A tremondous driver to swing and hit...very classic shape, the design "hides" the largeness of the head very effectively...overall light swingweight, but still easy to feel the clubhead both going back and through...forged face feels very hot at impact, much more solid in comparison with 983K and Cobra SZ drivers which feel "thin" to me...ball trajectory is not so high that it can balloon, drives still have some roll once they touch down...while not the longest driver out there, it still gets it downrange a ways and does it very consistantly...accuracy is superb, only the worst swings get you in trouble...draws, fades and straight are all on the menu if you can hit 'em...good club for all skill levels and player types...Aldila NV shaft lives up to the current Tour hype, a fine shaft that really performs well when swung hard...fact that I got it brand-new at such a great price made it a no-brainer.

Customer Service

Great service from both my retailer and Mizuno. He was able to deliver a factory-installed upgrade shaft quickly. Workmanship is first rate and delivery was fast and secure.

MP-001 400CC 10 degree with stiff NV-65 Alilda shaft. I've tried about every driver on the market 580XD, 983K, SMT455, Tsunami,510TP, Clevaland Launcher 460, etc. You would definately say I'm a golf nut. I'm an 8 USGA handicap and break 80 a couple of times each year. This club is awesome I'm not going to tell you its the longest or the straightest but, the feel of this club is out of this world and the distance I get is the same as all the rest. The biggest thing I have noticed right away is my shot dispersion very tight and consistent. Ball flight is right where I like it I would say mid trajectory with alot of roll. The way the weight is distributed is perfect the club head is very easy to close at impact which of course means less wicked slices. I cant say enough about this driver demo it you will not be sorry.

This club is awesome. I am not real consistant off the tee but this club has helped me drastically. I get around 20 more yards in distance and my accuracy has improved greatly. The feeling this club gives when you hit anywhere around the sweet-spot is unreal. It is by far the most forgiving club I have ever hit! The head seems lighter than most and it helps me swing faster. I definately recommend this driver if you want distance and accuracy along with a great looking and well-built club.

A Great Driver. Feel, distance, accuracy, this baby has it all. I'm not going to lie to you and tell you it added 30 yds to my drives or that I never miss a fairway with this club, but what I will say is that as a golf equipment nut (and believe me I've tried nearly all the "hot" clubs) I've never felt more at one with a club as I do this one. Its attractive but not overstated design sets up nicley to the eye and builds confidence right out of the bag, and fit and finish are exquisite. The NV65 Shaft is the perfect compliment for this club as it provides great feedback without being too "whippy". The results are amazing, I DO drive it longer AND straighter in a very measurable way. I now have a new weapon in my quest to bewak seventy and I couldn't be happier.
