SS430 Unlimited
I eventually bit the bullet and bought a driver. I’ve only been playing since last September and so (under advisement) I’ve stuck with my driving iron – until now. I’ve read countless reviews and the contenders (for my money) were either the Great Big Bertha 2+ or the Cobra SS430 Unlimited. I managed to demo the GBB2+ a couple of weeks ago and I have to say that I was highly impressed. I had to try the Cobra before I made my purchase (which I was convinced would be the Callaway) and did so at a local retailer’s. I only hit the Cobra into a net, but I knew there was something a bit different about it. After the ringing in my ears had stopped (yes it’s a loud bugger), I decided to buy it. I went onto the range, I wasn’t disappointed. It is a very forgiving club however that doesn’t mean that its infallible in the hands of a novice like me (yes I could still get a nasty slice going when I tried), but no more so than with the GBB2+. Over here the GBB2+ runs at about £349 (discounted), the Cobra cost me £229 – not that price was the issue. I’ve only had the beast for a week and even though I’ve played twice since then I’ve not dared to take it out on the course - I will next week though! A few pointers (from a novice): I was going to buy a 10.5 or 11 degree unit with a regular flex shaft. I actually ended up buying a 9 degree stiff(er) shaft club. I advise that you seek some fitting advice, or if you buy mail order then to try a half a degree/degree less than what you would normally go for. Getting height is not a problem with this club. My swing speed is around the 85-90mph mark, and so not that fast really, yet the stiffer shaft worked best for me. Just one of those things I suppose. I have found that I get the best results when I try to play the club smoothly through the ball and not be tempted to smack it (which is one of my failings as a “no handicapper”). Nice club, good price. I expect to do better on par 5’s (my main course fear) from now on. Just a Taylor Made Rescue Mid to go and I then I will have the right, complete set for me! That is until I see something new, and it all starts again... Customer Service Excellent Similar Products Used: GBB2+ (demo only) Progen FB2 Driver (a mates) Hippo Giant Plus (demo only - not bad) |

king cobra ss 427 9*
Forget the Rest....Get the Best!!! I just received my King Cobra SS 427 9* with the new x-stiff Graffaloy Blue shaft from Ebay. I've played with it for 3 rounds this past week...just shot my low round for the year, an 84 (I'm usually in the high 80's, low 90's). This club is for real!...Long...Long...and Long!...with consistency and forgiveness due to both the stiff shaft and the oversize head! I've been hitting 290+ yards off the blue tees and hitting the fairways. I've owned and played with Titleist 975D, Taylormade 360 and Tour Edge Bazooka 320J...all good drivers, but they are not in the bag due to lack of consistency and length as compared to the King Cobra SS. This club is in my bag and in a lot of other golfers' bags, both on the range and on the course. Don't just jump on the band wagon, but obviously, all these golfers must have a common denominator...a great golf club that works just like the ads say it should...even better! The best part is that this King Cobra SS driver is over $100 less than the other drivers with the big name brands. So, this is one of the best investments I have made to improving my golf game...period. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Titleist 975D, Taylormade 360, Tour Edge Bazooka 320J |

I have owned many drivers seeking for the best performance possible. As yet, nothing explodes(!!!) like the 427SS. This driver is awesome. Very forgiving and most of all.... very long. At least 5 to 10 yards longer than my previous Wilson Deep Red 425. The COR is at the very limit and it shows. Go and try one... you will ear and see for yourself... After, you'll keep it!!! King Cobra 427 SS
After being deployed to Korea with the U.S. Army I found that I had plenty of time to get back into golfing after a short layoff. I have always used Callaway drivers and have had good success with them. One of the golfers in my group was using a Titleist 975J driver which was large compared to my Callaway Warbird. I gave it a try and found it drove the ball both further and straighter than my Callaway. I then decided to look into these oversized drivers. After referencing this website and GolftestUSA's website I found that the Cobra 427 had super reviews and was rated number 1 on GolftestUSA. I made the decision to buy it and man has it paid off. The first time I hit it was on the course and it went 330 yards. The ball explodes off the club face. Even my friend who owns the Titleist was impressed when he hit the Cobra. Some reviews talked about the lack of workability with the driver but by minupulating the club face I can hit a fade or draw and the best thing about it that I can hit it straight when I want to. The huge head looks great and gives you the confidence to go after the ball. My off center hits still go 260 yards. I bought the 9 degree loft and the ball flight is still pretty high for me. It goes as high as my Callaway 10.5 degree but much further with tons more forgiveness. If you ensure that you get the correct shaft for your swing you cannot go wrong with this driver. It looks great, feels great and hits great. Just buy a pair of earplugs when you hit it cause it is LOUD. Cobra ss 427
I have been hitting Ping drivers for the last five years and decided to buy a Cobra 427 after reading the reviews on it here. I got a 7.5* on E Bay for $239.00 and thought I would be able to sell it and not lose a lot of money when I realized my Ping was a better club. The ping is for sale on E Bay !! I have gained 15 to 20 yards off the tee and we played 2 different Walt Disney courses in Orlando last weekend and I never missed a fairway. I was hitting 10 of 14 fairways with the Ping. Without a doubt, the best driver out their ! My average game was 82 - 85 and it is now 78 - 82. Way to go Cobra !!! Customer Service Hope I never have to use them. Cobra SS 427, R, 10.5
Thought the reviews of this club here were bogus, but I read enough legit reviews on the net and in mags to give it a try. I demo'ed the 427 and the Cleveland Launcher 400, and for me, the 427 blew the 400 away. So I bought it. Hit the heck out of the ball at the range before a round yesterday and thought, yeah, but "it's just the range." Hit the course and found 10 of 14 driver fairways. Hit mostly straight bombs and my "power fade" (read slice) turned into a slight fade or straight bomb. Warning, if you draw the ball, this may not be your club. But, like most of us 90s guys, if you slice when you miss bad, this club will definitely straighten you out. I don't know how far I hit the ball yesterday, but it was very far for me. Excellent club that you will not be sorry you purchased. Seriously. I got the R flex stock proforce shaft which is stiffer than my old Callaway VFT R flex. Good shaft, especially for stock. Playing the 10.5. Customer Service No need yet Similar Products Used: Callaway VFT, Cleveland Launcher 400 (Demo only) |

ss430 - stiff shaft
4 golfers hit the deck on the next tee when I cracked one off the sweetspot (which is BIG), looking for the sniper in the trees! Previously had a Hippo 400cc driver but no contest. Hippo sliced quite heavily on any off-centre hit, but Cobra goes long and straight whever you tend to hit it. Regularly driving 270yds as against 220 max with Hippo, even outright slices slice a lot less. Was slightly dubious whether investment was worthwhile for a golfer like me who is just hitting high 90's but should've invested sooner. Only downside is head cover- absolutely toilet! Customer Service Downshire service good, Cobra n/a but will contact them about the head cover, my aunties sock would be better! King Cobra 427SS
Let us be clear. I finish in the high 90's on a par 3 course. A left-handed golfer with a very consistent slice-- short, sharp and to the left. Hoping to keep my balls out of the thistle, I set out to purchase a new driver. I tried a variety of top brands, wincing as each ball disappeared out of the corner of my eye. However, the King Cobra 427SS amazed. Arrow straight 260-yard drives every time. For me 260 yards is long. In addition, a straight drive is worth its yardage in gold. Speaking of which, the King Cobra 427SS costs significantly less than other top rated drivers. Obviously, I am a novice. However, if this club can improve my drive as much as it has, it is truly a great product. King Cobra offers exceptional value and the club is very forgiving. If there are other left-handed golfers out there with a problem slice, I would highly recommend the King Cobra 427SS.
