Cobra 427 SS Driver
Thank you Cobra! I cannot say enough good things about this club. I basically an improving beginner, but was very erratic off the tee. So much so that I actually teed off with a pitching wedge on certain par 4s. (Yes, sad state of affairs.) In any event, I decided enough was enough and I wasn't ever going to hit driver unless I well, hit driver! I test drove the Cobra and was immediately impressed. I bought it and have been using it for three months now. I am a high handicapper so the following may astonish you, but I assure you it is true and was witnessed by playing companions. I hit a 290 yard drive twice on two consecutive days! Simply amazing for me! I just walked and walked and walked to my tee shot, which incidentally was in the center of the fairway. OK enough hype. How does it perform on day to day tasks you might ask? For me just great. I almost always keep it in play although oftentimes from the rough. I tend to hook longer shots and this club has a degree of offset (closed), which probably does not help. However, if I remember to slow down my swing I generally get good results and this club appears to be VERY forgiving unless my swing has drastically improved which just ain't true. For those of you who are career minded this club could help you advance on the job. I played a round with my boss and let him hit a few. He liked it so much he asked to borrow it for a couple of days (No problemo) and wound up buying it. So far he's doing ok with it, but he swings pretty hard and the regular flex shaft 10.5 loft really demands a slower swing (perfect for me as my 5 iron speed is in the low 80 MPH range). The stock shaft is quite long 45.5 I think so you don't need to swing it hard, a properly controlled arc usually works for me. In fact, on certain holes or tense situations I will choke down and still end up belting a drive. Another success story is my first eagle putt I had on a par 4 (270 yd par 4). I put it right on the green! Of course, as a high handicapper I still wound up with a par, which is just great for me. Incidentally, on the hole where I hit the 290 yarder (354 yd par 4)? I got a 7 and I think a 6. Yeah, short game is next project. All in all great job Cobra thanks for giving the high handicappers a chance to feel mighty even if its fleeting! King Cobra 427 SS
This is one awsome driver.I previously owned a taylormade 360,had it for about a year,I hit alot of nice drives but wanted something new.My local Pro shop let me use the new Big Bertha ll for a weekend but it did not perform as well as the 360.Then I tryed the King Cobra 427 SS with a 10.5 loft and the UST Proforce shaft stiff.I owned this club for a month and hit some of my longest drives ever. This club is also very forgiving and I would highly recomend it to anyone.I already went out and purchased the matching 3 wood.King Cobra did a great job with these new woods. Playing background: I have been playing golf for about 28 years and back in my college days I shot consistently in the 70's but now that I am an old man of 42 and out of shape my scores have gone higher and I now shoot in the low 80's. 1. The 427cc head is gorgeous to look at. Cobra did a fantastic job on the quality of the paint job and the design. This great design does not make the 427 cc size overpowering at all at address. 2. I tend to hit my drives very straight. The 2 degrees closed face has NOT caused me to hook the ball, in fact I have found it very easy to draw and fade. 3. Cobra chose a very reputable shaft maker and had UST make a quality shaft for them. I was though very surprised with the shaft's high torque rating. Everything I have read states that the larger the club head the more likely the shaft will twist during the swing (lower torque needed to prevent twisting). I demoed the club with the stock shaft and was semi-erratic with it so I reshafted with the HARRISON 2.5 and what a difference it has made. A PERFECT match made in heaven for those of you who would like to hit the ball straight, long, and with a perfect trajectory. Pro's: Design, looks, Very HOT face, INCREDIBLY FORGIVING and HUGE sweetspot. This club is CONFORMING to USGA guidelines. Con's: High torque shaft, club fits too tight in headcover. Cobra needs to make a larger headcover. Results: 13/14 fairways hit during my first round with it after reshafting. My drives were dead straight and with a perfect trajectory(med-high)and lots of roll. I easily have gained 20 - 30 yards. Comparison: For those of you wondering if the Taylormade R580 is longer and more forgiving, the answer is NO. In fact the Cobra is longer and more forgiving than both the conforming and non conforming versions. I have owned both and I have never driven the ball as far and as straight as with the COBRA. Recommendation: LOOK NO FURTHER. Customer Service Never Used. Similar Products Used: Taylormade R580 conforming and non conforming. Cleveland launcher 400cc, Nike 400 cc. |

Reviews are accurate. Very long and usually very forgiving. Key to this driver is not to overswing. My swing speed with the driver is around 105 mph. Although my driver has a stiff shaft, when I try a "full swing", the club head seems to drag behind, I get way ahead with my hands and I end up pushing the ball out to the right. I didn't have this problem with previous drivers. Slow down with this one. A nice smooth tempo and this driver soars -- around the same distance I was getting out of other drivers. The difference with this driver is that with a slower, more controlled swing, I now get about the same distance as before but with much better accuracy and consistency. Just tested this club out today an holy cow this thing is long. Tried creaming it with the first couple of swings and hooked it. Eased up on the throttle and gone! Way easier to hit and is longer than the Taylormade 580 for sure. Similar Products Used: TM R580, Hawkeye VFT, Steelhead Plus etc... |

This club may be the best kept secrect in golf. I am 5'11" 215lb and fiarly athletic. My driver swing speed in over 95mph. I purchased the driver in April 2002 because like everyone else I wanted more distance off the tee. I usually play every weekend, if not more. I now average 290 off the tee, with many drives over 310 yards! The ribbing I get from the 1st tee usually stops by the 2nd or 3rd hole when they see the distance is not a fluke (the head is huge). Bad shots usually stay in play and good shots split the fairway. This club delivers everything it is advertised to deliver and then some. This club IS very forgiving and it IS very, very long! Golf is a lot easier when you only have a wedge left to the green. Similar Products Used: Taylor Made Firesole |

Best driver Ive used. Tested TM 360, Nike 400, ERC II, and C4. This club is longer and more forgiving. Im a fairly new golfer and I can still drive the ball 290 pretty straight with this club. It sounds awesome when you hit it, like shattering glass. Customer Service Not used. Similar Products Used: TM360, Nike 400, ERC II, C4 |

Cobra SS 350
Hard to see how this club could be improved upon. It looks superb, and plays even better. I tested it in the nets along with drivers by the the usual suspects - Ping, Callaway, Wilson, Titleist etc. There was no contest, the Cobra felt in a class above, even compared with drivers costing $200 more. Every shot felt as if the ball was being catapulted off the face of the club by the huge sweetspot. Out on the course I knew I had made the right choice. It is very long and straight on almost every hole, and so forgiving. I'm pretty much a novice golfer, but I'm consistently hitting 275 yards plus with the Cobra -with a tailwind I have reached 330. I can't wait to get to the next tee to have another smack. Well done to Cobra, and a big thank you for the huge improvement to my golf, both in its quality and in my enjoyment.
