I've been on "the driver search" for about 4 months now. Started with the TM 500 series, and tried all of them with different lofts. It is a shame the kind of shaft they put on there clubs, very soft shaft, piece of junk! Yes you can put whatever shaft you want on it, but then your stuck with it. You'd think for over $400 bucks you would get something a little better. From there I went on to the Cleveland 400cc Laucher, but after 1 month of huge huge slices, that was enough. Once again I think it was more shaft issues. I have a swing speed between 102 and 104. Took it back, and a very knowledgable man at RD recommended the Corbra 427 with the Proforce 60 stiff shaft. Once I got over the sound level I was stoked! I've just hit with it on the range so far (3 times), but I am satisfied that my search is over. The whole 427cc thing seems crazy, but it does not feel that obtrusive, and I've been playing the TM 320 for the last year and a half. well.. i had a good reason to buy a new club... my last driver died in a car door slam... :( i did a quick bit of research into what new clubs were available ... as i hadnt bought a new club for 3 years at least. a few came up such as the new callaway gbb2, cobra etc... i went to the pro shop at my local golf course and saw the HUGE cobra driver.. and i had to try that.. i tried the 350 cc cobra, a titliest and the 427. im not a believer in clubs making a player... and was very surprised at how much more consistent i was with the 427 even over the 350!!! the 350 was nice... but tended to be harder to control and seemed even a bit heavier?? anyway... i hit about 100 balls and switching between the clubs every few balls and DEFINITELY noticed a very big bias towards the 427 interms of consistency. wont lie about getting xxx distance gain etc... but it was certainly a bit longer than i was used . definitely the strong point is the consistency factor. this part is unbelievable. other points- have to tee ball up higher... had to buy extralong tees! cons - can't swear enough at the head cover... too small by far... Customer Service not used Similar Products Used: heh heh... a bit of a list im afraid original Ti cobra driver 3 x callaway BBBs (broke 2 and traded 1) taylor made bubble burner 2 (terrible) custom made 10 deg stiff (recently broken shaft) |

I usually hit my Callaway Warbird like around 170 and I am a little dissapointed with it. I tried out the King Cobra 427 driver because it looked like an easy club to hit. I drove it next to the greens on par 4's and on the range hit it 240 yds every time.It has tons of forgiveness and is the greatest golf club there is!!!!!!!!!!! |

"Unreal!" ...What I say to myself everytime I put a halfway decent swing on the ball with this club. The best way to sum up this club is that it is easy to hit, very forgiving and pretty long. Just to give you some perspective, I am not one of these guys that hits it 300 yards and shoots in the 90's...yeah right. I had the callaway gbb for a few years and when hit well (and I emphasize "well"), the ball would carry about 225 - 235 yds and roll about 10-25 yds. But since I had a tendency to fade the ball, I would more often then not hit the ball about 240 yds. total. Oh sure once I hit a ball 300 but that was with the wind behind me and with 40 yards of roll on a rock hard fairway. The point is that with this club, I am hitting a pretty straight ball that carries about 10 to 20 yds. further on average than my GBB. Most of the new crop of drivers these days will go about the same distance when hit perfectly. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of seperation between the different brands for how far the ball goes when hit off the sweet spot. However, the reason that I think this driver stands out is that it is very long even when hit outside the middle of the club. I lose only about 10-15 yds. That might seem like a lot but it isn't when you consider that a mis-hit off this club goes about as long as a good hit off my old GBB. Plus, factor in the fact that you will hit a straighter ball (the middle of the face has no grooves) with the cobra and your average length should go up considerably. I have had this club for about 2 weeks and already I have hit a number of shots on the screws that have gotten out to about 270 on soft (well softer) fairways. My only quibbles with the club is that it makes a ridiculously loud sound and the headcover is too small. Also the sound is pretty uniform so you can't tell how well you've hit it from the noise the ball makes coming off the face. Kind of embarrassing when you hit a so so shot and everyone thinks you have creamed it b/c of the loud crack only to realize when they get out to the ball that you've hit it a mere 250. Expect a higher ball flight from this club. It is weighted more in the sole to encourage a higher trajectory. The stock ust shaft and golf pride grips are very nice touches. I haven't tried the new taylor made r500's yet but I can't imagine that it would be worth the extra 200 dollars. Not possible. I don't usually write reviews but I just had to pass my experience with this club out to the general golfing public. This club is fantastic. Cobra Ss 427 Driver
This is by far the best driver I have ever used. The first time I hit it on the range it went long & straight. I thought it was a fluke. Then I used it on the course. Guess what, it still goes longer and straighter than any driver I have ever used. {I've tried many} Now I use my driver alot. I used to use my 3-wood because I couldn't hit a driver. I was a 25 handi-cap. I've shot in the 90's ever since I bought this club. I 'm telling you this is the best driver I have ever used by far. By one, you won't regret it. I have owned most of them--most recently the Taylor 360. This Cobra is an extremely forgiving and very long driver. Only real problem seems to be when you overswing and try to muscle a few extra yards. Five people have tried the club and all five have purchased. My pro has named me salesman of the year. AMAZING. I recently picked up the Taylor Made R580. In short, I traded the TM after 3 rounds and picked up the Cobra. Like night and day. The Cobra is longer and more forgiving. No doubt, this is the best driver I have ever hit. Customer Service NA Similar Products Used: TM r580 and 360 |

After 2 rounds of 18 holes, I finally missed the fairway two shots in a row.(I made a couple of bad swings). Then I got back on track imediately. Love this driver, but I am keeping my Launcher in case it doesn't forgive me.I find it a little longer that my Cleveland Launcher, but better looking, and that sound is unbelievable. If you swing easy and make a half decent swing you will always be in the fairway.Tried the Callaway Big Bertha 11 side by side.It was pathetic, worse that the C-4 and the VFT.By far the best driver I have ever used, and it is a lot of fun .I feel confident that I can hit down the middle every time.I have hit about 200 balls on the range, about 10 were bad, but my bad swings were at fault. Tried to overswing.Buy it and you will love it. Customer Service n/a Similar Products Used: VFT,Big Bertha 11,C-4,Cleveland Launcher,TM,PING,Titelist 975J, etc. |

Cobra 427SS Driver
Finally, I'm looking forward to going to the golf course again - thanks entirely to the FABULOUS Cobra 427 (10.5 degrees, regular UST shaft). If you haven't tried one yet, here are the TOP 7 REASONS to do it NOW: 1. It's LONG - Hey, on a good day, I was hitting it about 200-210 (with my TaylorMade 320, Ping TiSi, and every other major brand). Now I'm consistently 20-25 yards longer. 2. It's STRAIGHT - This is probably the most unbelievable part. On holes where I used to think 3-wood, just to keep it in play, I'm now choosing the Cobra. 3-wood is now the right choice only based on yardage, not straightness. 3. It's incredibly FORGIVING - Yeah, you're probably thinking you've heard that line a million times before. Believe me, so have I. In fact, I just stopped listening when an ad came on with those magic words. Enter the Cobra - without question, the MOST forgiving club in existence. I've had to come up with more sheepish grins - after tee shots that had no business going as far as they did - in the last 3 weeks than in the last 5 years combined. 4. It LOOKS GREAT - Let's face it, you've got to stare down at that big club before you hit the ball, so having one that has just the right proportions (and a beautiful finish) doesn't hurt. How Cobra ever accomplished this in a 427cc head is beyond me. TaylorMade and Callaway still haven't pulled it off, and they haven't cracked the 400cc barrier yet! 5. It FEELS GREAT - My Ping TiSi had me convinced that the balls I was playing were too hard. And my TaylorMade felt like mush. I couldn't figure it out and it was making me nuts! Once again, Cobra to the rescue. No question about it, the ball feels PERFECT coming off the face. 6. It's CHEAP - Up here in Canada, things are pricier than in the US. So when I'm facing $599 for a Big Bertha II (and the TaylorMade R Series) versus $389 for the Cobra, it sure adds a little icing to the cake. Truth be told, if the prices were reversed, I'd happily pay $599 for the Cobra! So saving $200 was a pure gift. 7. It's an UNDERDOG - Okay, call me a contrarian, but I kinda get a kick out of the fact that I'm NOT packing one of the so-called Big Four (Callaway, Titleist, Ping, TaylorMade). It's neat when, after a few holes, someone asks me just what brand of driver I'm hitting and I get to watch their expression when I say Cobra. Reverse elitism? Yeah, whatever. One final word... when you're trying it out, don't limit yourself to the range. Find out how this puppy works right on the course. That's where you'll be amazed. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. The head cover sucks (just like you'll read in the other reviews). It's too tight to get on and off smoothly (so I bought an after-market one). But hey, that's a small price to pay for everything else you get. Go on out there and try one. And feel what it's like to be excited about your golf game again!
