If you're trying to break 100 for the fist time you need to be able to drive the ball at least 200 yards, otherwise you're going to have a tought time achieveing this goal. I have golfed for four months now with this goal in mind. I took the cobra out for the first time on Saturday. Amazing!! I dropped 10 strokes with this club and finished the day with a 100 on a tough course. Breaking 100 on an easy course will be no problem. You want a confidence boost, buy it! My dad used the club and hit one straight 331 yards!!! If you golf in the 70s and 80s you could easily expect a near 300 yards for every drive.

The reviews in here are very true. Its rating is the highest here on Golfreview. Shame on all of you that give this club a rating of 4 or below! I played with this club today and three other times and I think I only missed a total of four fairways, three were playable to the green. The thing about this club is that its a lot easier to draw the ball due to its 2 degree closed face. I'm getting at lease 15 more yards off the tee. I'm also starting to hit more par 5s in two or lease a chance to get there in two. I used to play a TM 360 and its a good club and when I first played the 360, I thought I'd never buy another driver again, well I was wrong! As soon as the 427 Cobra came out, I wanted one. I did not demo the 427. I just knew that this driver was going to be sweet! And at the price of less than a lot of other new clubs out there, where can you go wrong. After searching for about a month to find the right loft and shafft flex, I settled on a 10.5, stiff flex, high kick. I thought I was making a gamble on getting the stiff shaft, high kick but my ball flight looked more like 9.5 degrees which added more roll on the fairway. I'm also more in the fairway now. I guess its the stiff flex high kick UST shaft. I'm now able to swing a little harder without the shaft breaking down. Although my friends say that I have a smooth swing. If I want to get some extra yards off the tee, I don't worry about over swinging anymore. I've noticed that I'm getting a lot more distance using a Precept Laddie, than the Pro V1. Don't know what it was, it just seemed to go farther. I must admit that I swing like a girl maybe 95mph with my driver but I hit a couple tee shots 250-260. To bad a can't putt for beans! Anyway, I'm never going to buy another driver again and I'd recommend this driver to anyone that looking to get extra distance off the tee. Thanks Cobra! You just made golf a lot more fun for us recreational golfers!

Words can't describe how awesome this club is. Thanks to all of you who have made this club the highest rated driver on this site. I've never been one to like Cobras until I recieved a SS 3-Wood for my birthday in October. I took it out to Bethpage Black and was hooked on it instantly (no pun intended). I began to search for the driver itself. At first, it was very hard to find. I looked it 4 different shops (could only find stiff shaft), then found it at N.Y. Golf Center. I had to settle for the 9 degree, since the 10.5 was sold out. I was very satisfied with my Ping ISI Tec 10.5 degree. But once I hit this Cobra, things began to change. The two were so evenly matched. I decided to do a side-by-side comparison at the local range. I always had a long, slight fade with my Ping (nothing major), but the Cobra was straight, high, and OUT THERE every time. It was the first time I ever hit 250 yards consistently. It took a while to get used to the sheer size of this thing (had to tee it up a little high), but man did it let you know when you hit it right. What a sound. It turned a lot of heads at the range. I almost went deaf when I hit the very large sweet spot. Even my cousin, who has only been golfing for 2 weeks, managed 150 yards with this club. The final results were Cobra: 240 yards average, Ping: 220 yards average. It was very hard for me to let go of a club that I've loved since I first hit it. It wasn't until I discovered that the paint was chipping off of my Ping that I made my decision. The very nice salesman gave me $100 for my Ping, and took off the sales tax. Yesterday was the first time I used the 427 on the course (Bethpage Green). I shot a 91 with a driving average of 265. Thank you Cobra. You guys have manufactured a real gem. You truly are the Kings of golf.

Customer Service

Sent an e-mail for a new head cover (original didn't fit onto the club). Waiting for new one. Salesperson was ver nice. Took off taxes, gave $100 for my Ping.

I own a Cobra Gravity Back with an offset and it doesn't compare. I normally drive about 240yds. On my first drive it went about 260 yds. Very forgiving and instills a lot of confidence. Alot of the mis-hits still went about 230-240 yds. I was looking for an offset model but there is no need since Cobra has it set up with the clubface slightly facing in. The sound it makes isn't all that great but you will know when you have hit it in the sweet zone. Did not feel any vibrations whatsoever. This is a club that will give you the confidence to use a driver instead of a three wood. I normally shot in the low 100's but have since dropped into the mid 90's since getting the club. A must have for anyone wanting to improve on distance and accuracy. Welcome back Cobra. You are the "King"

Model Reviewed: cobra 427 driver

The reviews for this club--though rather astonishing-- are actually quite accurate--and why the Cobra 427 now has the highest reviews of any driver on this site. Its the longest and most forgiving driver I've ever hit--by far. Cobra did a fine job with this club. Looks beautiful--its imposing size not withstanding-- and is a sheer joy to hit. Plus its at least a hundred dollars less than most of its competition. I'm 6 feet, 210 lbs, and have a swing speed (with a driver) of about 110 mph. I get at least an extra 20-25 yards of distance with the Cobra over anything else I've owned or demo-d. Very hot face, and the trajectory is higher with my 9 degree cobra than my last two drivers (a 10.5 Cleveland Quadpro, and a 9.5 degree TM 360). The very exellent and light (60 gram) stock shaft is going to translate into greater head speed and resulting distance. The thing is--as others have pointed out--don't try to kill the ball. Its not necessary. This club rewards a smoothly tempo-d swing (which in itself promotes accuracy)--and the only times I ever hit a slice (which used to be my downfall) is when I try to play King Kong. The problem (when I get greedy and try to muscle up) may in part be due to the torque of the shaft--and why some have reshafted to the Harrison 2.5. Something I may do in the future if I ever get tired of being 270 yards out & in the middle of the fairway (MOST of the time, that is). The built-in 2 degree closed face is a natural corrective for those of us who tend to slice--and yet you can still work the ball (somewhat). But the tendency of this club is to go straight--which for most of us also adds distance. With my TM 360 I had a problem with slicing, so cut my driver down an inch--and probably averaged 240 off the tee, with a big hit being 265 or 270. With the Cobra its so forgiving there was no need to cut down the 45 and 3/4 inch shaft--and an easy swing averages 265 or 270, and usually I have at least one drive a round in the 300 yard range. But even more impressive than the distance is the relative lack of dispersion--ie., this baby not only goes long but STRAIGHT--sometimes even when I try to fade it, the ball just keeps finding the center of the fairway.

Customer Service

Customer service is excellent. When, as with many reviewers I found the too small original head cover starting to fall apart, I complained via email to Cobra and they immediately sent me the new and IMPROVED head covers free of charge, for both the 427 and the new strong 3 wood I bought (also an excellent club--a good hit off the tee goes 250 plus for me--and the new fairway woods are also an excellent value--at $150 per.)

Model Reviewed: Cobra SS 427 10.5 with UST Pro Force (R) shaft

I just got back from an outdoor range having my 12 year old son being fitted for irons. I had been looking at the Cobra, Taylor Made 500 series, and Cleveland 400 Launcher. I had my son try this driver to see how he liked it. He tried both the TM and the Cobra. He told me he liked the Cobra better, and after watching his ball flight and the ease with which he swung the driver, I was amazed. I currently use the Orlimar HipTi 9.5 deg with a Fujikura Xstiff shaft. My first inclination was to "juice it a little" WRONG! No need to. This is the easist swinging driver I have ever used! The loft (10.5) was a bit high for me, I like to use a 9 deg. (Used to use an 8.5 deg with my Titleist 975D). Anyway, I slowed down my tempo, and viola! Easy, LOUD, and what delight to watch the ball flight! This is a very, very nice club. The head although HUGE, doesn't appear to be that way at address. A real confidence builder. My son loved it. Now I'm not one to tell you how "monsterous" my drives are. I find it hard to believe that someone who shoots high 90's, 100's can be consistantly hitting the ball 270, 300+ and still shoot those type of scores. BUT, if you want consistancy & workability(and who doesn't), and not have to worry every time you walk up to the tee box where your tee shot is going to wind up, then strongly consider this club. It's not THE cure all, it starts with your swing, BUT, this club WILL give you confidence and will forgive those poor swings! Oh, I also hit the Taylor Made. Not bad, but it definitely WAS NOT the KING COBRA. I don't play clubs just because THE PROS play them. They get paid to play their equipment. I PAY FOR MINE, and I have no problem paying for such a wonderful driver! (Yes, I got one for my son for Christmas, and one for me too!) Hope he's not reading this! THINK ABOUT IT...IT'S YOUR GAME, PLAY THE EQUIPMENT THAT WILL CAUSE YOU TO ENJOY THE BEST GAME KNOWN TO MEN AND WOMEN! One thing though is the headcover needs to be modified;TO BE BIGGER! I was given an animal cover for my driver and it's big enough, but the factory headcover is a NO-GO. Remember, smooth is fast. Don't overswing, you'll be RICHLY REWARDED!

Ladies and gentlemen search no further. I have searched far and wide?xD;?xA;for a driver, and like every other review states........this is it. Based on it's outstanding perfomance, it won't be long until they have a fat reducing pill, a car that runs on water, and a golf ball that is "water resistant". Nothing more to say. This is the best kept secret in drivers!
