Cleveland Launcher 400 Drivers

Cleveland Launcher 400 Drivers

DESCRIPTION

New technology has made it possible for golf clubs to be more effective and powerful than ever before. The Launcher 400 has the technology of the original Launcher 330 with the added benefits that come from a larger clubhead. This great feeling driver produces a higher launch angle with lower backspin for more carry and increased roll, and also offers an increased moment of inertia which reduces the amount of lost distance on off-center hits. With these new technological advances come restrictions to keep the game fair and fun for golfers of all levels. The rules of golf dictate that a driver face can only offer a certain amount of spring-like effect known as the Coefficient of Restitution or C.O.R. The USGA has officially ruled that the maximum amount of C.O.R. allowed in a golf club is .830. The New Launcher 400 precisely meets this legal limit allowing you to post all of your scores. So, you'll be able to put this club into play in any tournament at any golf course and feel confident that you're getting the distance, the great feel and accuracy of the most technologically advanced club in the game.

This driver rocks! I've been a Callaway guy all my life and have never owned anything else. But I've noticed lost distance with my driver after my injured my back 2 years ago. My back is fine now but the distance has not come back. So I tried the Launcher in the store but hitting into a net didn't tell me much. All I know was that the head looks perfect at setup. The 460 looks kinda big to me. And the contact was so solid. So I bought it used at Roger Dunn and took it out to the range. I was amazed! This driver was the real deal. I couldn't believe how straight and long my drives were. I'm not much into shaping the ball anyways. Straight is the best ball path for me. I've gained more distance even from before my back injury. I was never a long hitter before but I'm averaging 260+ consistently. I think the head has a lot to do with it but also the shaft. As you know, those stock shafts cost like $2 for manufacturers. Cleveland makes their shafts with Fujikura and it's awesome. For anyone looking for distance and forgiveness, give this a try. You will NOT be disappointed.

I went to a demo day with the thought it would be fun and that would be the end of it. Well I was wrong and I'm now 600 dollars (aus) out of pocket. Not that I'm not happy with my purchase. It has to be the most forgiving driver out there. Hit one out of the heel and because of the high moment of inertia no twisting and very very minimal distance loss. The guy at the range gave me a 7.5* which I thought would be way way too low but the combination of the stock shaft (stiff) which seems to pull it up, and the huge head I hit it perfectly. I had been told that it wasn't for faders of the ball but I couldn't fade it. Drawing was easy but try to hit a small left to right and all I could manage was a push. Distance was amazing. On the day there was a 15km/h wind blowing straight into the driving range and I was still landing my drives at the 240m mark. Just for the record, i'm 6 foot, 75kg and have a compact quick swing. With this I'm thinking of entering the Junior long drive comps.

Was playing the Launcher 330 8.5. Nice club, but not much room for error with the stronger loft. Wanted the 330 9.5 and could not find it locally. So, I upgraded to the 400 9.5 and have absolutely crushed the ball. In addition to the distance is the accuracy, I have been hitting many more fairways. Ball flies with lots of carry. Nice looking club and very forgiving. Only gripe is the stock headcover...pain to get on and off and does not protect the shaft against bag wear. Great price compared to what other name brands charge for their newest drivers.

Purchased Spring 2003. Went shopping with the bias of wanting a particular club. The then new Titleist 983k or Ping. Went on a Cleveland demo day and hit lots of clubs. All Titleists, Ping, Callaway, TM 540 and 580, Cleveland Launcher 330, 400, and finally decided that there were two that flew longer and straighter. They were the TM 580 and Launcher 400, both with the Grafalloy Blue shaft (for Big Heads) in stiff. For me the Blue shaft was the difference. Both clubs had 10.5*. I swing at about 113, so I was a little surprised at the need for so much loft. But, Scott at Stoney Hill was clear that the ideal launch resembled the arc of water coming out of a hose that travels the farthest. I chose the Cleveland for 2 reasons, first it seemed that better shots went farther, although the TM seemed ever so slightly more forgiving. The other was the Cleveland appears to be smaller at address, which is more pleasing to my eye. Neither club can be shaped by subtle manipulation. Down the line contact results in a straight shot. I had the chance to try the clubs I liked with most every shaft combo possible: Fuji, Grafalloy Prolite, UST, etc. The Cleveland stock Fujikura seemed too soft, even in stiff, in the 400. I liked it better than the 330, where the shaft was a better fit. I had a case of the snaps with it in the 400. Lucky for me, the pricey Speeder was not an improvement over the Blue. I would have considered the Titleist with the Speeder for a lot more money, but was glad not to need to. Cleveland truck built the club for me as I waited. WHAT I LEARNED - GIVE UP ALL PRE-CONCEPTIONS. HIT EVERYTHING OUTSIDE AND WITH A LAUNCH MONITOR USING THE BALLS YOU LIKE TO PLAY. THERE IS DISTANCE OUT THERE FROM TECHNOLOGY FOR EVERYONE. I THINK I PICKED UP 30 YDS. OVER MY OLD GREAT BIG BERTHA WITH THE UST SHAFT. You cannot pick a club from my experience, but I hope you learned how to search the market better.

I absolutely love this driver. I have a 10.5 degree stiff shafted launcher, and launch it does. The forgiveness that this club has is amazing, hit a pull of the heel, and it will fade back in. Hit a push of the toe, and it will draw back in. The shape of the club is perfect, and doesn't seem like 400cc. I have hit other drivers like the TM 540 and burner 420, and it felt there was almost a lag with the head. Not a great feeling. All clubs are personal preference, but give this baby a try, you won't regret it.

Model Reviewed: Launch 400,

Launch 400 is straight. Can't work the ball, might be a good thing for me. Distance is not as long as Titleist 983K or Taylor Made R Series. Manufacture claim the Club work extremely well in head wind situation. My feedback is moderate in that regard, 983K is a bit better for that. Please be careful with the Loft though, as I think the Manufacture tweak them a bit, it's not the same as the number shown. 9.5 should be a safe bet. For Female golfers, please try the man's version, as many female friends of mine enjoy great success with this club. As it rolls a lot, expesially when you top it. The price is also very attractive. However, for single handicappers, there are better clubs for you, just ask Vijay.

If you really want to put accuracy into test, bring your driver to 8,400 feet elevation, where low density air will enhance your distance, but dispersion as well. Results: scored my first eagle ever, on a 496 yards par 5, after "launching" a 290 yards drive, immediately shaved 4 strokes off my score cards upon including this driver on my set. How: approaching with mid or short irons, instead of long irons, make an accountable difference. Impressively accurate.

Using the stock Fujikra stiff flex shaft the result is outstanding. Hit 13 of 14 fairways on the course and with a quick (not smooth) swing speed of about 95 I could "launch" the ball about 280. Very Easy to hit and a bit more forgiving than almost everything I tried. Not as long as the Taylor-Made and could not not speak to workable as point and shoot golf is my goal. Bottom line is this driver worked for me. The setup feels right. I can actually point to where I want it to go and it actually goes there.
