Cleveland Launcher 400 10.5 w/NV65
I did alot of research and experimenting before buying this club. I demoed all the top brands several times with different flex shafts and brands of shafts. The two I liked best were the Titleist 983k and the Launcher 400. The Launcher 460 was a nice stick too but the size of the head didn't look right to me and the high pitched impact sound was a little bit of a turnoff. The 400 sounded and felt crisper. With a price tag $130 less than the titleist (which I liked very much), I made my purchase. I waited until I played at least 10 rounds with it before writing a review to present an accurate assessment of this product. The first minor change I made was to replace the grip with a softer Callaway Steethead grip. The Cleveland grip just felt a little hard and slippery (my hands sweat alot). I got the NV65 (reg. flex) shaft option at no extra cost although, honestly I don't see a big difference over the stock Fugi orange shaft. The green color is a sharper looking component though. My swing speed is around 92mph and my natural ball flight has always been pretty straight. I was carring my old Callaway VFT about 230 and I can honestly say that the Launcher has given me the extra 15 yards I was looking for. 245 to 255 and straight. If I tried to get too much out of the VFT I sometimes got the snap hook but the launcher stays pretty straight. I have hooked a few but they are far less severe. I've had the same irons (taylormade firesoles) for 5 years now and have no desire to change, but the technological advancements in these new drivers must be taken advantage of. The Launcher 400 is an absolutely fabulous value and a tremendous addition to my bag. I don't think it has lowered my handicap yet (8.2 USGA) but it has put me in better position to do so. I love it. Customer Service Haven't had to use it though I've heard that this configuration is about a month to get a new one. Very pleased. I had only hit this in the closed net room at Dick's. I loved the sound and the little computer launch gizmo there showed I was coming through nice with only a slight draw (which is usually not my normal shot but has proven out in play now). I have the stock S shaft. It is forgiving and YES, tee it high. It's hard to hit a bad shot. Some of my older drivers I could occasionally fly HIGH/RIGHT, but nothing like that yet even close....knock on wood :-) Similar Products Used: Mizuno Blue Rage, Nicklaus AirMax, Orlimar |

Insane!!! I hit everything out there and no other club compares in accuracy, distance, quality and price. I'm a long hitter, but now I'm averaging over 300 dead straight. Drove 3 par 4s in my first round with it (367 downhill, 339, & 335) I think the people I was playing with all went out and bought it, so if any Cleveland reps read this...you owe me. Definitely opt for a custom shaft if you can...I hit the ball pretty low so the combo of the 9.5 degrees and the blue shaft are perfect. And make sure you tee the ball up pretty high, the face is deep and you want to make contact on the upper portion of the clubface. All I can say is buy this club!!! Customer Service Haven't needed it. Similar Products Used: Taylor Made 540, Titleist 983, Wilson Deep Red, you name it. |

been playing the 8.5 with graphite design YS7. hit club well, however thought I could get just a little bit more out of it. 7.5 w/NV65 has done that for me. can work ball so much better than before. drove a 320 yd. par 4 of course it played down hill drop out to the right. never had done that before... have had several drives in excess of 290, average is between 270-280 which I will take all day long... plus is hitting more fairways. feel @ impact is very very solid, set up looks and feels right also. Excellent driver in all regards. Very long, very forgiving and it feels and sounds great at impact. Tried the Titleist 983K but felt it was too harsh at impact and didn't like the way it looked at set up. It's hard not to hit it in the fairway or just off with this club. The fact that it's only $299 is just a bonus, I would pay $400 for it in a second. Customer Service NA Similar Products Used: Ping, Cobra 427 |

Overall, this is a very solid driver. The head that is. The stock Fujikira shaft has caused me nothing but heartache. First of all, the stock shaft is horrible (in my opinion). The ball really ballooned on me, and even though I was averaging about 250-260 on the fly, I was getting absolutely no roll because of how high the ball was flying and the amount of backspin I was getting. Also, there was too much torque in the stock shaft which caused the club head to twist on me causing me to hit some horrible shots. (I admit a few of those may have been operator error rather than the shaft's fault.) Thankfully, the shaft broke on me only 3 weeks after buying the club, and I got it reshafted with an Aldila NV 65 S, and that has made a huge amount of difference. Normally, I would have been quite irritated with the shaft snapping on me so soon, but actually it was a blessing in disguise. I was without a driver for almost a month, but it has been worth the wait. The ball explodes off of the club face now. The larger sweet spot and maximum COR really gets the ball jumping off of the face. The sweet spot is a little bit high on the club face, so the ball needs to be teed up a little bit higher than standard drivers (less than 400 cc). Now, I am consistently hitting the ball 265-285+ and more often than not, hitting it right down the middle of the fairway. Even on my mis hits, I very rarely hit the ball less than 250 yards. The club is very forgiving. A minor problem with the driver is that it is pretty difficult to work the ball. The size of the head makes it a little bit difficult to hit a draw or a fade on command. (This may be my fault as well, but I could do it much better with my old driver.) My recommendation is to try it out before buying it. This club is not for everybody. Also, I understand that Cleveland is now offering the Launcher with the Graffaloy Blue shaft which is a much better shaft than the stock Fuji gold. Overall, I would recommend this club, but make sure to hit it first and experiment with different shaft combinations if possible. Also, a word of caution, the ball gets up pretty quick, so I would recommend using a loft of 1 degree less than you would normally use. Customer Service The customer service was pretty cool. They reshafted the driver for less than half of what my local golf fitter wanted for the Aldila NV. Actually, Cleveland charged me less than cost on the shaft, so I really can't complain too much, other than it took them forever to return the driver to me. OH MY GOD!! This driver is amazing. I was worried about the 400cc head being too large but it is amazing! A forgiving head put together with an amazing shaft is a deadly combination, and that is exaxctly what this driver entails!! There is no way anyone should use anything other than this driver!! Priced just a little under the other big name drivers, this club is easily able to compete, if not outperform all that it goes up against. I have the 10.5 degree with the stock gold stiff shaft. I think that the shaft has as much to do with the success of the club as the head does. Not only is it beautiful to look at with its gold finish but it can withstand quite a bit of torque. The clubhead on the other hand is extremely forgiving. It is also very long. I compared this club to all taylor made products and my swing was too fast for the stiff flex shafts, just caused a duck hook. Also the TM didn't feel as good. Once you stand over the ball with this nicely shaped club you have all the confidence in the world. The Launchers have definately putt cleveland on the map for more than just wedges now. Give it a try, you won't be dissappointed. Customer Service Haven't used Similar Products Used: TM R540,TM R580, Cobra |

Absolutely the longest, straightest, most forgiving driver made today. I have used the Launcher for almost a year now and, along with their fairway woods, have hit more 5-Pars in 2 than ever before. Went to a demo days, hit all of the drivers from all of the manufacturers. Once I decided on the Clevelands they were custom fit and made exclusively for me in their onsite Tour Van in about an hour. I've hit them all and this is the best! Customer Service Friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. This is absolutely THE farthest club you can get! The feel at impact is spectacular. You can actually feel the ball trampoline off the clubhead. Much better than the old TaylorMade540 by far. Customer Service Not used Similar Products Used: TaylorMade 540 |
