Great clubs. The closed face helps control my fade and the sound of impact is wonderful. Similar Products Used: None |

4+
Probably the best club in my bag, my 4+ with Callaway's firm flex shaft consistently hits shots a good 200-230 yards and straight as a proverbial arrow. With the low center of gravity, the loft and feedback are great, especially off the tee. It's much easier to control shots because the shaft is not unnecessarily long. Callaway Steelhead Plus Driver and 3-Wood
I really enjoyed the original Steelheads because they were longer and more forgiving than any other woods I tried; however, I disliked the really closed face because it was very easy for me to hook the ball (my natural swing is a draw) and the M-10 shaft was a little to flexible for me. A couple of months ago, I caved in both my driver and my 3-wood Steelheads (both M-10 steel shafts), a frequent problem I understand for people with high swing speeds or people who occasionally miss on the top edge of the club face like me. The guys at my local pro shop told me that Callaway had fixed the caving-in problem and convinced me to use my store credit on the new Steelhead Plus model. The Steelhead Plus actually hits the ball a little higher and farther than the original Steelhead with a feeling more similar to titanium than steel; however, the faces are still too closed, the shaft too whippy, and the new composite material used in the head scratches easily. Anyway, last week I caved the driver, so I returned them both . . . again. Bottom line: I guess you get what you pay for, and unfortunately, for $169.99, you don’t get much in today’s world of expensive clubs. My next stop for a driver will be the PING TiSI and the Cleveland Quadpro with steel shaft for my 3-wood. I’ll let you know how these two clubs turn out. Callaway Steelhead Plus 3+ M-10 steel shaft
Save about $100 by purchasing steel shaft rather than the graphite. You'll be much happier. This is a great club that has really improved my driving. I use it on all holes between 350-415 yards. Usually left with 120-165 to green with this club. Has a sweet sound at impact for solid contact. Penetrating and straight ball flight. |

Steelhead Plus 9 degree
This club is definitely not for someone who can swing at a ball hard. I have an approx. clubhead speed of only 111 mph and I shattered something on the inside after only one session at the range and one tournament round. But other than that, this club actually hits pretty well as long as you hit the sweet spot but the shaft itself seems a little short for my liking. I've switched to the Hawkeye Pro now and I am waiting to see if that one breaks on me as well (hopefully not). Steelhead 3+, 5, 7 (memphis steel shaft)
Very nice clubs! The 5 & 7 come off the club like a rocket, but with a nice tajectory. Have hit both into par 3s and held the green. I didn't hit the 3+ as well. Really like the steel shafts. My only complaint is the high price it being a stell club. Similar Products Used: Orlimar 13*, Taylor Made 15* (old model) |

Callaway Steelhead woods
Rookie golfer, about 11 months, as is my son, who at 14 is becoming something of a phenom already. In any event, singing the praises of the Steelhead woods (originals). I have the 7 wood and 9 wood steel shaft- nmy most consistent and beloved clubs- wish I could putt with them. Soon to get a 4 wood and have a Hawkeye 9* driver en route. Off the tee or fairway, I have found that even with my pathetic fade/slice tendencies, these are very reliable. I hit the 7 wood about 175, and the 9 wood a consistent and dependable 145 (great on those par 3's when I hit the green and my buddies who are such great stars screw up their irons)- highly recommend-- I would even sleep with them.
