Callaway Big Bertha Hawkeye VFT 10-degree Driver
I must say that Callway most certainly blew it with this club. I was a big fan of brand name over performance. That has since changed after I used this club. When I first swung the VFT, I was very impressed. It gave distance (210-240 yds.), height, and control. But once I took it out on the course, I realized the difference between a driving range and an actual golf course. I developed a terrible, unforgivable slice with this club after about 2 weeks. I also have had many many many tops, low liners, and pop flies. I tried a new grip, as well as an adjusted swing pattern, but it just didn't work out. After about 7 months of use (playing 2-3 times a week), I traded in the VFT and purchased a Ping TiSi Tec 10.5-degree Driver. I like the Ping a lot better (place emphasis on A LOT). It hits longer, it sounds better, and it goes straighter. I was very disappointed with the VFT, and decided that I needed better. Don't get me wrong, the VFT isn't the worst driver in the world, but there certainly are better drivers out there for the price I paid. Customer Service Fair to Good. Not too sure about this. Well I have the VFT driver and i have the Taylor Made 360 driver. The Taylor Made driver just feels bad when I hit it thats why I sold it to my friend. I absolutely love the VFT Driver! I now hit the ball the farthest on my golf team. 280 yards at the least on evry drive! ITS THE GREATEST DRIVER! Similar Products Used: 975D Taylor Made 360 |

9 Degree Callaway Hawkeye VFT
A couple weeks before my high school golf season started, I bought this club. Testing it at a Golf Galaxy golf store against rivals like the TM 360, TM 320, and the Cleveland Launcher. None compared to this. I had already done some research, and I do know that this club has a 1.5 degree draw bias (the amount depends on the degree of the club), but you could not really tell that there was much draw bias. Average drive went about 260-270 (my old driver went about 240). Drives were straight, with a nice little draw. So, I bought this club. For the next three weeks, I had very mixed results, pulls, slices, and anything inbetween. After about 3 tournaments, I realized that the problem wasn't the club, it was my stance and ball position. After switching that, the drives looked better than they were on the simulator. Nicely struck drives feel very solid, and drives that are caught off the heel or toe lose some distance, but they also try to fade or draw back into the target line. The 300 cc head is very nice, not too small, but not gigantically large. I would recommend this driver over the new driver by Callaway, the C4. The C4 doesn't have as sweet as a sound as this club, and demoing the C4, I couldn't get used to the look of the face of the club. I highly recommend the VFT. It's very versitile, and boosts your confidence at address. Some people have been switching the shafts in this club, but the stock shaft works just fine for me. If you're looking for a new driver, don't pass up the VFT. Customer Service The two year customer service plan is great, I hope I don't have to use it anytime soon, but it's good to know that Callaway backs up its products well. Hawkeye VFT, 10 degree, Firm
Purchased this club two weeks ago, I’ve been on the range and have 4 rounds on it. Callaway is correct when they say they want to make golf more fun with further distance. I’ve never been nor will I ever be a 300-yard driving golfer. Prior to this club I was consistently driving around 240 yards, I’m now at 260. Control and forgiveness from the sweet spot is like I’ve never experienced. I’m hitting further with more fairways, that’s a combination I’m enjoying. I’ve never found interest in Callaway products, however based on this purchase I’ve been missing out. I’ve played the Cobra Gravity Back stock and UST ProForce 65 shafts and Cleveland QuadPro Titanium with a True Temper BiMatrix shaft. I’ve tested Cobra’s SS Beta Ti 350cc & 427cc, Ping’s TiSI Tec, Cleveland’s Launcher, and Orlimar’s Tri Metal Plus prior to purchasing this. I didn’t prefer the 400+cc heads, by far the Hawkeye VFT was right for me. I was concerned based on some negative reviews from this site and others, however they didn’t hold true for me. A comment was made during my purchase that may or may not be true, however worth mentioning. Callaway shafts tend to fall between industry standards. Another words a Callaway Frim is between Firm & Standard as compared to other graphite shafts. Two thumbs up for this club, I’m quite pleased. Customer Service As noted this is my first Callaway Club, I would expect no issues. Outstanding club. Used for first full round over the weekend and shot my best round of the year. As a mid 90s golfer I am (no surprise) generally a little inconsistent off the tee. This club is the best change I have made in my game to date (aside from more lessons). I tested out the Taylor Made and Nike and the Callaway simply felt the best to me and gave me the best and most consistent ball flight. Do your own research but you won't go wrong with this club. Customer Service no experience yet...have heard nothing but rave reviews though. |

VFT 9* stiff
I got a lend of this driver while my Titleist 975d was being reshafted. the original hawkeye was a wonderful club, relatively long and nice feel. callaway seem to have sacrificed most of this feel for added distance, and if it is distance you are after well the vft delivers with bells on. the 9 degree sends the ball on a boring trajectory with lots of hang time and plenty of roll. it really does explode off the face. however i did experience those dreaded hooks that are mentioned in too many reviews below, which is totally an alien shot for me. this result was usually, if not always caused by going at the ball to hard, and or too quickly. this club i feel requires a smooth swing, and perhaps that is why some guys that shoot in the 70''s were experiencing difficulties with this club, as many low handicappers go at the ball hard. on off centre hits it performed well, loss of distance but not much accuracy. the stock shafts are a definite improvement for callawy, and at $500 dollars a pop they would want to be. in conclusion i will sticking to my 975d for consistency and the ability to work the ball, but the VFT is definitely worth checking out, if you can hit it consistenly it could be the one for you. |

8.5 VFT Pro
I spent about 2 hours at the range today and “demo’d “ some of the major new drivers in the market. Let me begin by saying that none of them convinced me to trade in my old Callaway Hawkeye Pro Titanium driver. That being said, I rank the rest as follows (all clubs were either 8.5 or 9.5 degree w/ x-stiff stnd. shaft): Callaway Hawkeye VFT Pro, Cleveland Launcher, Nike 330 cc, Taylor Made 360, Callaway C-4. The VFT was forgiving and long w/ a nice sound. The Launcher is nice. That’s about the only club that would make me drift away from Callaway. It’s got good distance, very forgiving, looks good and sounds good. I like the Nike club more than I thought I would. It gives good distance and forgiveness. The only downside is the sound at impact is a dull thud – sounds weak. The Taylor Made is obviously forgiving considering it’s massive size. I wouldn’t have this in my bag if it were free. The C-4 is a gimmick. Callaway seems to be sampling the market w/ this one. Customer Service n/a Similar Products Used: nike, cleveland launcher, c-4, taylor made |

Love this club, my slice is gone and I am once again excited to step up to the tee and rip one down the center. About as long as all the others out there, beautiful design that instills confidence and a controlled swing. Have had better results with the stock shaft than I have with any other graphite shaft out there. Demo''s are easy to come by, so go try one out and see if it is the right fit for you like it has been for me! Similar Products Used: 975J, QuadPro, Deep Red, Hawkeye, many others |

What a great club. I did not notice any less distance them my Ping TISI, and the grooveless sweet spot creates less spin which creates farther, straighter shots. I have only played 2 rounds with it and I have hit more fairways then ever. You need to be a good player to hit this club, so for you guys in the 80''s stick with the Hawkeye VFT that has a closed face to avoid slicing. Callaway is still one of the best companies out there and there products continue to perform great. I will continue to use this club so I can continue to collect cash from my playing buddies. Customer Service EXCELLENT, THE BEST. Similar Products Used: Ping TISI, Taylor Made 300, Titleist 975D |

Sucks!!! I have a pervious Hawkeye Driver. I really really love it. and I love my X-12 irons too. And I thought Callaway is a really good golf company. But after I tried the X-14 irons. I put a question mark on Callaway. Now, I totally forget about this brand after bought the Callaway VFT driver. It is really really sucks. After I practiced it in the range after 2 weeks, I returned it to the golf shop and exchange for the titleist 975J driver. Now I know why titleist is the #1 brand in the tour and less tour pro use Callaway now. Similar Products Used: Titleist 975J driver |
