Have tried this club for a year and a half and even changed shafts but no consistent results. I have bombed a few 320 to 330 yds. but no consitency. This club is made for a grooved swing that I don't have. You can't feel the head in the swing. I would say not for high handicappers.

I bought a callaway hawkeye vft driver because I wanted too get a little more distance of the tee. It took some getting used to the longer shaft. I used a 10 degree steelhead for 2 years, great club too. The hawkeye was the answer to my prayers; I used too hit my 10 degree steelhead an average of 260 to 275 yards tops. My hawkeye improved my tee shot to an average of 280 to 300 yards, my longest shot with this driver was 315. Today I am usually close to 290. I went from the low 90s to the mid 80s.

I'm 34, typically play about a half dozen rounds a year, and shoot in the 90's. My wife and I were vacationing in Hawaii, without our sticks, so we rented a full sets of Callaway Hawkeye VFT woods and irons. I had no prior experience with Callaway clubs. In short, I had the best day off the tee that I've ever had by far. Consistently banged the ball straight down the fariway in the 275 yard range. I know, 275 is no moon shot by today's standards, but it's very good in the context of my game. Never had more confidence with my woods than I did that day. When we got home, I dumped my driver and fairway woods in favor of three Hawkeye VFTs: 10 degree driver, 3w and 5w. Going on another golf vacation to Myrtle Beach this month, so will see if the Hawaii experience was a fluke or not. I agree with the person who said that smooth swings produce the most consisent results with this club. The only times I got into trouble with it were when I tried to kill the ball. Didn't experience any of the other's problems with poor performance on mis-hits, but I might have just had one of those days where nearly everything landed in the sweet spot.

Customer Service

Purchased used from CallawayPreOwned.com for $200 a stick. Received promptly, and clubs in condition as advertised. Much better value vs. purchasing them new.

I am a beginning golfer and this was my 2ns driver purchase. I got the 10 degree and found i hit the ball really high with this thing. I really liked the driver and the feel, but the closed face took a little getting used to. I recently traded it in for a Cobra 427 but haven't had a chance to hit it yet since it's 8 degrees outside right now. I have recently had some bad experiences (indirectly) with Callaway's customer service. A friend of mine and I work at a pro shop now and had to deal with some of the "upper" sales people within Callaway. Well, to make a long story short, they were slow, not helpful, not seeming like they wanted to make our sales, so we are all going to Taylor Made or other companies. We felt that if we were getting treated this way from "higher ups" then what were our customers, friends, families, etc. experiences going to be like. Taylor Made was very helpful and truly seemed like they wanted our business. Thanks for nothing, Callaway. We're going elsewhere.

thought this would be the answer to my game, but instead turned into my nightmare. when it went well it went really well but when it went bad it was horrid. low pulls and low hooks. lost more shots with this club. even had it reshafted but still trouble. its now in my garage. own a wilson fat shaft big red now and able to once again hit with confidence. (still love my calloway irons though)

Model Reviewed: Calloway Hawkeye VFT

I played a Calloway Great Big Bertha 10 degree with a Graffaloy prolite shaft for a few years. Very good Club. Then I won a Hawkeye VFT 9 degree with a System 60 firm shaft and an Odyssey putter... I gave away my Great Big Bertha to a friend (mistake) and was determined to give the VFT a fair shake. I hit the VFT about 10-15 yards farther, with a more boring trajectory and better roll, but the consistancy and feel of the club was not as good as my Great Big Bertha. I do like the "crack" off the clubface as opposed to the "ping". I've never been a fan of Calloway's graphite shafts so before giving up on it completely, I decided to reshaft it with a Graffaloy Prolite. Wow! Now I have the consistancy of my old driver with the added distance. The Graffaloy shaft is silky smooth, and the combination is powerful. The downside is that I just bought some sweet new irons too (Mizuno MX20's) and I've barely gotten to use them...last time I played after hitting driver, I usu. only had a wedge to the green. So, for the cost of a new shaft ($75) I've got a great driver. If you don't like this club, reshaft it!

A great driver all around. Very forgiving, but not as easy to hit as the previous Hawkeye, Big Bertha Warbird or Steelhead drivers. A smooth swing will produce the best results, I've found. A hit on the sweetspot will produce a nice cracking sound without the "ping" found in the previous Callaway models.

I am about a 20 handicap... I have been playing this driver for the last month, maybe 4 or 5 rounds. Of all the bigsticks I have been using in the last year, I have had the best results with this one. Hits from the middle of the clubface out to the toe produce decent distance with a pleasing, loud **crack**. The closer to the toe I hit them, the more they seem to draw. Heel hits produce weak, low, liners. I feel that this club performs best when I let it rip. It is not an easy swinger like previous Big Berthas. Good swings produce medium trajectory rockets that hit the ground running. I typically get 15 yards of roll on average groomed fairways. Shorter turf will produce drives that run forever. Not a bad deal at current prices of $250.

I got this to replace a Warbird that I never took out of my bag due to lack of confidence. Mine is 10* with regular shaft. This club really goes. Really nice feel off the clubface. I agree with prior reviewers that this, or any club, won't cure a bad swing. But this club is helpful, it's fun to hit, I'm enjoying practicing with it, and that alone is bound to help. And it sure is a lot easier to par the 4pars coming in with a wedge than a middle iron. Remommended.

Model Reviewed: Callway VFT Pro Series 9.5

Bought this club when it went on sale... and it has been a love affair ever since. After a break-in period, and a lesson, I have been hitting this club straighter and farther than any previous club. Although it always comes down to the person swinging the club, this driver provides a solid feeling at impact without the "pingy" sound. I chose the pro-series because the standard vft sets up with a slightly closed face. I prefer the square set-up for my swing and stance.

Customer Service

My local Roger Dunn Golf Shop always provides the best customer service. I haven't had the need to deal directly with Callaway.
