Callaway ERC Fusion Drivers

Callaway ERC Fusion Drivers

DESCRIPTION

ERC Fusion Drivers have internal weighting that is more evenly spread across the perimeter of the clubhead, which works with a square face angle to help golfers produce a straight, repeatable ball flight.

I started off last year swinging an Adams GT driver 9 degree that I picked up locally. At the range I was consistantly carrying the ball 250-255 but I really had to think too much to keep the ball straight as it features a closed faced design. I then switched over to a Taylor Made R7 quad 10.5 degree. I found that I could make a more relaxed swing without the need to over concentrate but I was carrying the ball the same distance as the Adams club and was experiencing a high amount of back spin and very little roll after landing...hmm $70 club as long as a $500 club. I then switched to the ERC Fusion 8.5 degree, wow! I picked up at least another 8-10 yards of carry but because of the knuckle ball and low, long trajectory effect this club imparts the thing hits and rolls forever. I have more than once hit a drive, saw where it landed but couldn't find the ball so I ended up dropping another ball only to find the original ball WAY UP beyond where any of us thought it would be. Other notes: Off sweet spot shots still take off well and are controllable. Fades and draws are easily produced. Club is easy to align and makes a nices solid thwack sound similar to the old school first metal head drivers. Highly recommended.

I was given this driver to try out by a club pro. 9* with an aldila nv s-65 shaft. I have played 3 rounds with this driver and there is a big difference in play from my GBBII driver. It has a lower launch angle, I usually hit the ball high with a fade- with this driver I hit it lower which translates into more roll. It is not as workable because the ball comes off with less spin, I can still hit a fade but have yet to hit a draw that pleases me. I like the looks of the driver and the sound reminds me of my old persimmon driver- nice thwack. I also like the smaller head. I am not sure if this club is for a higher handicapper. I still need a few more rounds to really decide if I will keep it.

So far this has been a descent driver but I will replace the factory shaft very soon. I believe the (firm) shaft is way too weak if you swing above 100mph and will cause the ball to balloon, thus losing distance. I purchased the 8* and seem to have lost distance compared to my 8.5* Snake Eyes but the Snake Eyes has an Aldila NV (S) shaft which is what I'll reshaft with soon. Other than that the club is very forgiving and has a draw tendency which is good if you need the help. I'll post again once the reshaft has been done to give some final thoughts.

Customer Service

They have been great with the questions I needed answered.

This club is long and forgiving. I just bought it and have only used it a couple of times. It out preforms anything I've tried to date. Swing easy and let the club preform as it was intended and you will love the results. Phil Mickelson is proof of its prformance on tour. Can't wait until the 460cc version comes out!

Absolutely beautiful club to use! I've only played one round with it so far and wasn't swinging great but still got good results. Had to experiment with tee heights and ball position and now it is PERFECT! I had a Taylor Made XR-03 and I only have to tee the ball half as high as I did for that club. Ultra forgiving and very accurate. I don't notice much more length, but maybe in Summer when the weather is a little warmer and drier. Highly recommended.

I am 15 years old and I have been playing since I was 9. I've hit almost ever driver: titliest 983k, Ping Si3, Cobra ss, and more. Most of them I hit a little high which was causing shorter distance. I traded 3 drivers and got the ERC Fusion 9 degree. It really is the longest driver I have ever hit. It has perfect trajectory. I highly recommend it. It sounds a little different but still is solid and goes long.

This club can't possibly be legal? Tried it last year when my trusty Taylor 300 was being regripped. Didn't intend to like it or buy a new driver. One round with the club totally changed my mind. Ball flight was high, straight and insanely long. The club looks and sounds great. Should be a good option for all skill levels.

Others may be larger, but none are any more forgiving or accurate. Great feel, perfect trajectory. Solid and long drives are the norm not the exception with the ERC Fusion 9.5. Only thing you will have to do is order it with an upgraded shaft. I use the YS6 regular and have been impressed with the feel, length, and control afforded with this combination. If you like a driver that sounds like a huge brass bell or breaking glass this driver's sound may not be for you. Muted whack, very similiar to the old Titleist 975. Best driver yet developed by Callaway. Also the marriage of graphite and titanium in a driver head must be ghe future. Look how many companies are following the trend of the Fusion. Selling for $299.00 everywhere so buy one

Looks matter to me, and this a beautiful club. Clubhead is large (360cc?) but not disproportionate. Satisfying but muted "thonk", not tinny. Good feel for where you have hit the ball. Solid hits long, very forgiving for mis-hits. I have shafted with Graphite Design YS-6 S-flex, perhaps a bit too flexible for my 98 mph driver swing but may force me smooth out my tempo, which I certainly need to do. Much better for me than the 2004 Big Bertha Titanium - generally more forgiving and thus much greater sense of confidence at address. Tried Cleveland 5 series, Titleist 983E&K, others - all good clubs, just not as confidence inducing as this one.
