I don't hit really long but this driver is beautifully straight and easy to hit. Great jump even with a light soft swing. I tried the new Mizuno, the Hogan CS-3, and every other new driver in a machine and this is my favorite

Got tired of waiting for the new FT-3 so I picked up a 454 after reading the reviews on here and I'm glad I did. Got an 8dg with NV stiff. Every bit as long as my ERC II but without the worry of bad shots like the ERC. My bad shots with the ERC II can be sliced or snap hooks. My bad ones with the 454 are power fades which just tail off at the end, not big banana balls to the right. If I step on it it only produces a higher trajectory with more carry but not much more distance. Nice to know no matter how hard I swing where the ball will end up however. Very confidence inspiring at address and solid feel through impact. I now have a driver in my bag I feel confident with on the tee every time I tee one up high. Nicely done Callaway.

I just purchased a bb 454 and put a accuflex assasin shaft in it because i found the stock shaft was crap!I consistantly drive the ball over 300 with every driver i have!I have a swing speed of 120mph and have Ping g2 Nike ignite and cleveland launcher drivers!i like all f these alot but found the ping out of these to be the best farthest and most forgiving until i bought this Bb 454 with the accuflex shaft!man i am driving an average of 350 yards and am straight as an arrow!its amazing!ball just rockets off the face!I do suggest changing the shaft if you want one of these cuz stock callaway shafts suck!im sure a prolaunch shaft would do wonders too!

Model Reviewed: Callaway 454 Driver

I have just purchased a Callaway 454 Driver with Graphalloy ProLaunch 65s Shaft. I tried all the shaft options that were available at the time, and they all react differently, so would suggest that anyone thinking of purchasing this driver do likewise. The Prolaunch shaft was the one for me and all I can say is "WOW" What a Driver at a reasonable price. Long straight drives with loads of carry and roll. My drives with my old driver usually ballooned then fell from the sky, nowhere near where the 454 hits it. The Callaway 454 is really awesome and is very easy to hit, but the head does not seem to be excessively big even although it is 454cc. This driver is a sure winner. Get one while you can, but remember to get the shaft that suits you. 454, this one from Callaway is probably the best driver that I have ever had the pleasure to hit, and believe me,it sure is a pleasure.

Very stable head and long. RCH shaft is good. I'm going to put a Graghite Design or a NVS in to this thing. Check out this stick and it competes well with the popular Ping G2 which is a exellent club too.

Customer Service

Callaway is the best. Sent me a right hand and got the lefty in 2 days and sent the righty back on their $.

Model Reviewed: Callaway 454 w/Aldila NV

The Callaway 454 with the Aldila NV stiff shaft is a fantastic club. As a general rule, I've always found Callaway drivers to be very forgiving and easy to hit. However, to me, they tended to have a sort of "fluttering" high spin ball flight and would cost me distance vs. other clubs. I think Callaway got everything right with the 454 though. This club is easy to hit and has the forgiveness of other Callaway clubs I've hit, but has a very "hot" ball flight and is as long as just about everything I've tried (I think off the rack the Ping G2 might be slightly longer bit it's very minor). I've owned both a Ping G2, and Taylor R7 and I've spent some quality time at the range with the Taylor R5, Cleveland Launcher and MacGregor Mac-Tec. I'd rank the Cleveland in almost a dead heat with the 454 with the others trailing behind in some areas. The Ping was the longest, but the ball flight was a bit high for me(even with the 8.5 degree). The R7 works great for someone that is a VERY good ball striker, but the penalty for a poor shot is more severe with the R7 than the other clubs. Overall the 454 is just plain solid.

Customer Service

No contact yet with this club, but Callaway is generally good to work with.

After giving this driver a couple of rounds I decided to finally join in on the reviews. I love today's equipment and like to try out as much as I can. I have to say I'm very impressed with this club! I purchased the 10* with the Aldila NV 65 S shaft. Very nice combination! I have an average swing speed of about 90+ and the stiff shaft works very well for me. This shaft has allowed me to finally understand what people mean by "knowing where the clubhead is" with particular shafts. Makes sense now. Love the feel of this shaft! I can compare it to the Grafalloy Blue (Reg flex) I have in my TM 580XD and think it's much better all around. I'd say the 454's a bit longer than the Taylor, but not a ton. I love the 580XD, but find the 454 to be much more "comfortable" at address. Has the "size", but doesn't look overwhelming from above. Set up is much easier with this neutral face driver than the 1* closed Taylor as well. For the price, this club is well worth it, too. Almost put the R7 in my bag, but after many swings and careful thought, went with the 454. Wasn't trying to save $ at the time either (though I should). At this point, I don't regret my purchase at all. Boy, it's hard not to get caught up on the Taylor Made band wagon! Kudos to their marketing department! Give the 454 a try and if you can, demo it with the NV. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Good luck.

I took up golf last week and I am hitting this driver at least 330 yards and I am only 12 years old. Just kidding...I do love reading some of these reviews! I have the 10 with a aldila NV stiff and swing about 95-100. I am hitting this about 15 yards further than my Hogan but maybe not quite as staight. Could be the shaft because the Hogan NV is a little different than the standard NV. Those 15 yards really do make a difference and I am still hitting the 454 very staight. Great Driver!

I've lowered my handicap 2 strokes since getting this driver. I have a tendency to tinker with my equipment. I love switching clubs and trying out the latest fads in golf equipment. The Callaway 454 is worth the hype. I'm finally hitting my driver consistantly well. So much for tinkering, this puppy's stayin in the bag.

I started playing golf last summer(04') and have great natural abilty to swing the club. Thing is, I'm 5 foot 6 and 130, how am I ever going to get it far enough on par 5's to be able to have a chance for eagle. The Callaway Big Bertha 454 has let me swing my hardest at the ball with out fear that i'll end up in the tree's. If you read any of the other reviews for this club they are claiming bigger yards, more like bigger Cahuuna's. This club gives you the confidence to just grip and rip it. If you set up to draw the ball and you make perfect contact with it, you'll hear the loudest "TINK" sound from this club. I hit 11 of 12 fairways last weekend with this club, considering my novice begining i think this club is amazing. The Aldila NV stiff shaft looks pretty, but if you know how to swing a club it really puts the power to the ball, and when you swing the club with the NV you'll know what I'm talking about. I let the Starter at the club use it and the old guy almost had a corinary after seeing how far his drive went. Hands down best 299 my girlfriend has ever spent on me!(im lucky huh?)
