First of all I would just like to say don't be afraid to buy this club if you are a good golfer. I have read many reviews saying the head is too big and it is for game improvement only. This driver is for all golfers as long as you get the right shaft. Some people are saying better golfers will be better off with a 400cc head. That is garbage there are many pros using 460cc heads and I bet they are better golfers then the people writing these ridiculous reviews. I just wanted to make that point before I tell you what a great club this is. This driver is very long and acurate. You can hit it anywhere on the face and it still produces good yardage. The face is very hot and I have gained about 15 yards from my GBB 415. I have a swing speed of about 110 and the aldila nv fits me perfect. If you like hitting a wedge into most par 4s do yourself a favor and go get this club. Callaway had done it again.

Love the fantastic descriptions of their skill levels some of the golfers post here. Would really like to watch all those guys who "average 300 yds" with their new drivers. As for myself, I'm in my mid-50s in age, been fooling around with golf for 30 years, but only had the time and money to really work on my swing for the last three. I have been using a Big Bertha II 380CC 10 degree regular shaft for almost two years. My pro said it was time to go to a really big club head, and now that the 454 is a year old and showing up on sale, I tried one with the same shaft and loft, liked it, and bought it. With the 380, over flat ground no wind, my good drives carried about 220 with a 20 yds or so roll out. My mistake is a duck hook. After a bit of mental adjustment getting used to the sight of the big head on the 454, I started hitting the ball with fewer hooks, about a 240 carry with only 10 yds of roll out, so I get about 10 yds more distance with less danger of a bad kick. Pretty good deal for me.

Model Reviewed: Callaway 454 cc Ti Driver

I have a Callaway 360cc Ti driver. Last week I play with a 7.5 handicap player and he has the Callaway 454 cc driver with stiff ProLaunch blue shaft. He consistently drove in the range of 260-280 yds and very straight. So I am very impressed with this club. Keep in mind that he's a 7.5 handicap, his club head speed is probably 100-105 compared to 80-85 of mine. So it's more than just a club, it's the player . Don't hope to buy Nike driver and hit like Tiger. I always try to buy high quality club that would fit my swing at the lowest possible price. I've learned of one thing: On the average, the most you can get out of new technology is 20 yds with a new driver Happy Golfing

Model Reviewed: Titanium 454 - 10 degree - Graffaloy Shaft

First, I would like to thank all of you who recommended this club with the grafalloy shaft. I am 40 years old. 6 foot, 180 pounds. I take lessons once a week, play twice a week and shoot consistently from the mid to high 80's. I bought both the 454 with the blue grafalloy shaft (ebay-$180.00) and I also bought the older Steelhead III with their standard shaft (ebay - $50.00). Both in 9.5 condition. With both clubs, I played 3 rounds, took 3 lessons and went to the range 3 times. I found, for a skinny guy like me, that the 454 was a bit too heavy and I had trouble getting around on the ball without having to exaggerate the hands upon impact. Granted, the ball exploded off the tee, but I could never get any consistency. With the III, it was much easier to come around and the ball travelled father than the 454. Weird, but good for me :-) Overall, I'm very satisfied with the 454, but it's going to take some getting used to.

I love this driver so much.....I had to write my first review. I shoot in the low 90's to upper 80's. I use senior flex, graphite shafts as I need them for the distance. Have lower back issues. This driver, for me, is nothing less than, AMAZING! My golf buddies said they were going to have me tested for performance-enhancing drugs.....I hit this club sooooo far! For you average golfers.....like me....you might try the 13-degree loft like I have. The extra loft takes out side-spin and helps produce a straighter ball flight. I'm now flying right down the fairway.....and with huge drives! That means 260 to 270 yards, for me. I'll take that!!! Like other reviewrs have said.....getting the correct shaft and loft for, "YOU," is very important. I've learned to get properly fitted. Do yourself a favor.....try one of these drivers.....fitted for you. You will love it!!!!!!

I purchased one of these on E-bay for 1/3 of the retail price with the stiff flex graphite stock shaft. First of all, lets talk about the size of this thing. I'm used to a 400cc club head, this is a 454cc,... on steriods! Sitting in my bag next to the smaller heads of my callaway steelhead III 3 and 5 wood, the poor things were scared to death. I had trouble even seeing my Mizuno blades in the shadow of this thing. I mean this thing at address literally looks like a grapefruit on a stick. No flat lines at address gives the illusion that the head of this club will roll off the shaft and probably go farther than the ball. I know this club was involved in the longest drive competition, but I seriously think it had a lot to do with the batter, and not just the bat! This club had a nice feel, but when I'm hitting good drives, I hit this only as well as I hit anything else. Mizuno MP-001 burned it in distance, Cobra SZ 400cc burned it in accuracy. My fairways were 1 out of 3 which isn't too bad, except that I tend to cut and power fade this club, feeling like I was forcing the larger head to come around for a squared face. This club will work well for a slow or incomplete swing. If you are fundamently sound, this may not be the club for you. A lot of game improvement quality, but, in my opinion, not the driver for the next level or aggresive player. I just think a large head on a club is more for senior players. 400cc headed drivers are going cheap right now, and I think they are ideal for all skill levels. More so with this club, and as with all clubs, make sure you know the flex of shaft that is right for you. Who knows, I didn't try this with a R flex shaft ( although I can't hardly see how the regular flex would support the head on the 454 ). Maybe I would be writting a different review. Anyway, finding the right driver is like finding the perfect woman, and lets face it guys, golfers are fickle. Otherwise there wouldn't be so many choices out there. Callawy wants too much for this club, for the price, there are many other drivers you can try out that'll fit in the budget. Give it a try, but not because it's a Callaway, but because you want that perfect drive consistantly. Try them all, what the heck, it's only a game. Aren't we the passionate ones!

Playing a 65 shaft with 11 degrees loft. Club is about 5-8% longer in distance than my BBII. Drives tend to be straight and can work the ball fairly easily from fade to draw. Sweet spot is large but need to keep the ball at the upper third of the face or distance will suffer. Best results have been with a Callaway HX Tour ball. I'm very pleased with the overall performance of this club.

I tried this driver a while back and just for some reason I couldn't get this to fly the way I wanted it to. First thing is first the stock callaway shaft is a little weak. I know that had a lot to do with it, but I wasn't impressed with the distance I got with it. I have hti a lot of other drivers that flew way over this one.

This club is the greatest thing ever produced by Callaway. I also own a BB Titanium 2004. With the 454 i can get the same distance I got with the BBT 2004 but with little effort. I just started playing a few months ago. With the BBT 2004 i had to work hard to keep the ball straight and have it go 170 yards. With the 454, I just have to swing very lightly and the ball goes 170. If I swing faster I get 200 yrds. The BBT 2004 is a great club but the 454 is much more supreme club. Tried Cleveland Launcher 460, but it did not compare to the supremacy of Callaway in the driver department. I did not try Taylor Made because its over rated.
