Just got this driver and one word stands out......CONSISTENT!!! I have over the years tried almost everything out there, with varying degrees of success/failure. Some smashed it a country mile but never where you really needed it to be! Some never got over 10ft off deck. But today I think I have found the answer, spectacularly long and the most important bit...straight, like you never beleived was possible!! My Titleist 983K was probably 10yards shorter but off line as often as on, so this is an amazing confidence booster, to see the ball in the middle 80% of the time realy helps my game!! After all Mickleson and Campbell dont play these for the cash only!!

I have never been a fan of Callaway products, clumsy and clunky at best in the irons anyway. BUT In combination with the 65 degree NVS stiff shaft (plays firm to stiff and suits my 108 swing speed) this is the most reliable driver I have used todate. Very forgiving and straight I have the neutral version (draws and fades are the result of a conscious swing process - a tiny amount of alterable weight wont rid you of slices and hooks alter your golf swing to correct these) and it does exactly that - provides a neutral base for your swing. The shaft is smooth and solid and in my opinion is more consistent than the NV green. Callaway have sensibly priced this model and whilst I suspect that it wont be an enormous seller it deserves to be. The sound is superb and you know when its out of the middle. Sits beautifully behind ball and is very well finished

This is a fantastic driver! Personally, I think the NVS 55 shaft is dogsh*t (i.e., do you have any idea how much core composite you need to take out of a high-performance shaft to make it 55g?) but the clubhead design (w/new shaft) has greatly exceeded all my expectations. Performance: It’s almost impossible not to hit the ball flush with such a big head. I can tee it low for the runner or high for the upper-cut carry. The fact that this club is the max 460cc is fantastic. What I really like about it, however, is the way the 460ccs are presented. This club has a much deeper face and is shorter front to back than most other 460cc driver I tried. I hit a cut off the tee and it is much easier to hold the release though impact with this “stouter” 460cc clubhead. When teed normally, the ball flight is a perfect mid trajectory to my eye. I re-shafted with a NVS 75, which has made all the difference in the world with regard to ball flight. Now, I get a solidly mid trajectory without the weak whippiness of the NVS 55 stock shaft. Looks: I think it looks awesome! I welcome the orange and black color scheme as it’s a nice break from Callaway’s previous models and other stuff out there. The alignment arrow (not available on the Tour model) is actually very helpful – especially when you align chevrons with a Callaway ball. Sound: This is almost the best part. The thing sounds really bizarre. On two different occasions, I’ve had members of my foursome seriously ask me if the clubhead was broken or the hosel loose! Gone is the metallic ping or piercing/glass breaking sound of my TaylorMade 580. The FT-3 sounds more like somebody dropping a board onto concrete. It’s totally unique. It’s loud as heck, which people either hate or really love. I love it!

Model Reviewed: Callaway Big Bertha Fusion FT-3

I tried various drivers before selecting the FT-3, including the Ping G2, Cleveland launcher Comp, Taylormade R5 and 7 as well as the Nike Ignite 460. What I liked most about the Fusion FT-3 was its looks, but this is obviously a personal choice. In addition I was hitting it at least 25 yards longer than any of the other drivers I tried. I felt to me as if I was able to generate more club head speed with this club for some reason. I also noticed that my ball speed was significantly higher with the same club head speed than for any of the other drivers. I am using the 10 degree neutral with a stiff shaft (the default it came with). I get +- 280 yards carry with a swing speed of +- 110 mph according to the fitting centre test machine. Extremely satisfied, even though I am using the “neutral”, I am hitting a slight draw, but I still have the ability to work the ball with a fade if I chose to do so. The only negative is that this club does not make the classic Callaway sound, but who cares if it goes 280-300 yards?

This driver is light, easy to swing, and drives the ball long. Before this club I was using R7, but not satisfied because mis hits were noticeably unforgiven. I debated over FT-3 and Ping G2. But, I chose FT-3 because it had lighter club weight than G2.

Gracious!!! Bought the club in time for golf vacation at Wailea and Kapalua, home of the PGA Mercede Championship Plantation course. Didnt even had the chance to practice it or break in at range before tackling these monster and demanding courses, and I DROVE the very best of my life, hole after hole, round after round, and day after day... wow...Go GET IT,would ya!!... I purchased the neutral setting one... The only draw back is the sound.

In contrast to the other reviewers here I'm going to state this club is vastly overrated. I have been using my trusty TaylorMade Burner with flext twist shaft for well over 10 years. Distance 300+ yards. The shaft has seen better days so I decided to upgrade. I read the reviews of the Fusion FT-3 and decided to give it a try. First impressions is that it is a nice enough club but is very light and appears to have a convex rather than a flat face. First few hits on the range were terrible but that was more to me being over excited than with any problems with the club. After that initial horror show my normal slight draw was transformed into a strong fade and the club was noticeably shorter in distance and accuracy compared to my 15 year old taylormade. The professional came to have a look and could not see anything wrong with my swing and he stated this was not the first time he had seen this happen when people test the FT-3. Overall I felt the club was too light and obviously did not suit my swing. I'm 5'8'' with a flat swing. By all means give this club a try but don't expect the miraculous improvements you have been reading about elsewhere. I was testing this alongside the TaylorMade Quad R7 which for me was a vastly superior club.

Taylor Made Quad R7. Heavier clubhead, which I like, nicer club at address and delivered excellent results for me. Hence it is now my driver.

Thks to other reviewers who helped me - I now return the favour - Used Titliest's for past 5 yrs - steady, but nothing spectacular - 260yds my best ever with 983K 9.5 - wanted higher & longer - tried Tiliest 905, nice & high, but similar length - got an FT-3 10deg reg to try - wary of large headed drivers, but this is deep face which is ok, not too wide a face, but the front to back length is long and gives it the 460cc whilst not looking a big lump - Sound is fine, a thunk not a tink - shaft & swing weight is D2, same as my fairway GBB's, so feels v familiar - flight is gorgeous 'rainbow' - hit 2 drives over 280yds in first rnd, enabling me to reach a v long par4, and later a par5 in 2 - has been years since that happened - but more importantly, my bad shot is a leaky right fade when going for it - this club still starts right as obviously my swing at fault, but the ball then stays straight and invariably holds the fairway - brilliant - Use a Pro V1 and even into wind this doesn't climb to silly heights - ball doesn't just land & stop either, nice roll - Joy to use and look forward to next strike - unfortunatley, this could be its one weakness, u stand over the ball & really want to hit it because u know it will fly forever - this is not always the best approach to low scores - but I am going to enjoy it whilst I can - go try one asap & have some fun.

Took it to the range yesterday. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I was encouraged to go try it because of the reviews I've read here. To me, I think the setup (look) of the clubhead is harder to get over than the sound as most people are saying. You get used to the sound quickly but the head just looks strange at first. But don't let this futuristic robot looking club fool you. I tried the draw biased club. It took my high right slice away. I was a little shocked because it made my ball go left. I NEVER hit the ball left! It was about 10-15 yards farther than my Titleist 905T on flush shots. The ball rockets off the face. The stock Aldila shaft was very good. Callaway is always known to make forgiving clubs and this club delivers. Go try it out. I doubt you will be disappointed. Hits long and straight.

I have been on a quest to find the perfect driver. First I bought the Titlest 983E. It was OK but no longer or more forgining than my old Yonex Super ADX from a decade ago. Then I bought the over-hyped r7. I was very disappointed. It is currently out on ebay if anyone wants it. Then I bought this. FT-3 Tour 8.5* cannon. I can not believe how much better this is than the other two. It is more forgiving and longer. I hit my 4 longest drives of the season yesterday during the FT-3's first time out on the course. I am planning on getting my dad one so I don't have to give him strokes.

Customer Service

If it is anything like how it was when I had the warbird BB, then it is great.
