I've only used this driver for about a month and I really don't know what driver this one compares to because I've only had one other driver before this one, which was a wilson fatboy. I might not really know much about this driver cause I've only been in golf for a few years and I'm 14 years old. But this driver made ever shot I hit go straight and long. My drives are averageing 230-240 yards down the middle. It brought my handicap from a 15 to a 9. I am now consistantly shooting in the 70's now and I have a lot more confidence in my tee shots. I recommend this club to anyone cause it feels great and it gives you extra yards you need.

Quality driver at a good price, but hits very high. Aldila NV-70(stock shaft) is not a true stiff. Over all a good driver with a nice sound but not for a player who likes a low to mid ball flight.

I decided I need a new driver since the last one I bought was from 2002 and was only 300cc. So after reading reviews I decided to get the CS-3 since it was only $99 USD. With the old driver, I was only managing 200+ meters with about 3/10 drives slicing quite badly. With the CS-3, it's down to 1/20 drives that had a slice and an average of 220+ meters. Mis-hits still went at least 170 meters. Even though it sounds like you're hitting with an aluminum baseball bat, who cares if you're usually in the fairway and only using a 7 iron or less for your 2nd shot.

I am thinking of buying another one for use when I go home to visit.

Extra Stiff stock Aldila shaft, 8.5 deg loft, neutral bias.
Mostly hit it dead right and very high. 10-15 yards shorter than my other drivers. Didn't like the way this shaft loads and since the clubhead feedback wasn't anything special, I won't bother investing in a reshaft. Glad I only paid $50 for it, which is why I gave it a "4" for value.

Model Reviewed: Hogan Big Ben 9.5 deg draw bias

The owner of Pro Golf in Brampton Ontario wa s telling me how popular this driver was and how happy people were with it.

I got sold. And I'm glad I did. Oddly, I had a couple of hits with one a few weeks ago and thought it was so-so.

I was wrong. Before taking it on the course I read a lot of the reviews here, and expected high, far and with a noticeable noiseand ....fairways....more fairways!

I had been sticking with conventional driver head sizes; determined to let the swing do the work and shot some mid-seventies scores when it worked, but fairways were hardwon most rounds.

The reviewers here were right. This crazy club pounds them down the middle unless I do my Al Jolson (dead singer) move whioh I did twice. Smooth swing and KABOOM; down the middle and that Adilla shaft described as perfect for the club goes to work and away she goes.

I have a relatively low trajectroy, mostly by design, and found that the 9.5 mostly launched what looked to be an excellent angle. I occasionally hit around 300 yards with my Ping i3 driver, launching low, and I fully expect to match this distance more often, but with more of it carry.

Bottom line. Pro Golf was giving these away at terrific prices and the excellent recommendation was right on. Fairways....

As my philosophy professor used to say "Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise," I'll be hitting a heck of a lot of second shots from the middle of fairways.

I am genuinely surprised at how beautifully it performs. Highly recommended.

I'm a Brit living in SE Asia and I.ve played golf for about 35 years and used to shoot 70'syears ago. I recently saw the Big Ben on sale in Kuala Lumpur at 130 USD, so I checked the various reviews here and made up my mind to buy. I've got the 9.5 degree Draw bias with Stiff shaft NV-H 70g. The club is easy and forgiving to use and I would say it's average for distance. I noted that most reviewers said the ball tended to fly high - well that's not surprising since the shaft is Aldila NV-H and I suspect that the H stands for high launch. I can however, hit the ball low, it just depends on ball position and tee-peg height.

I'd like to comment on the unhelpful remarks made by some earlier reviewers. One reviewer (shoots 70's !)commented that the face was made from steel. At the time, I thought that would be a rather stupid comment, since to put a more dense metal at the front would put the weight in the wrong place and also, it would present welding difficulties, as I'm sure titanium doesn't weld well to steel. Anyway I checked this out By mailing Ben Hogan and they confirmed my thoughts. Incidentally, the same guy commented about the sound sending shock waves through his body - I noted that he did not mention what driver he'd used before, so maybe he's just moved up from wooden-headed woods ! The issue of noise is quite amusing, after all, what the hell does it matter, since the ball is on its way by the time you hear the noise. I've been using many large headed drivers, including Srixon XX10, Cobra SS370, Cleveland Launcher 46, Taylormade R7 425 and they all make pretty loud sounds at impact, with different tones. To me, the more impressive sound comes from the Srixon XX10 and the dullest sound comes from the Cleveland Launcher 460. Like I said what does it matter, but if sound is your priority, try the Srixon XX10 - it's about the longest in my opinion, but it's not very forgiving. For those of you that don't like the loud sounds of the modern heads, either wear ear plugs or try having the heads filled with extremely light-weight expandable chemical foam, just like they had inside the first generation steel-headed woods.

In summary, for those of you pondering about this driver, I would say that for 150USD or less, the driver reprsents very good value for money and I'd rate the performance as typical of drivers costing in excess of 400 USD.

I have the draw bias, 9.5 degree, stiff shaft. It is without doubt the straightest driver I have hit. Extremely predictable. I wouldn't say it's a long driver as I've lost a good 10m compared to my Adams GT363, but who cares if you're in the middle of the fairway.

Had a few hits of the Taylor Made R5 Draw at a local club thought it was great. Hit this on the launch monitor side by side with the TM and the result was almost exactly the same. Straight and long. Have only been playing golf for a few years and this is my first driver. Has really given my confidence a boost. I always hit my 3 wood pretty straight and as far as my playing partner could hit his Cobra SZ440. Now I outdrive him by 30+ yards every time. What a great club to have in my bag. All for $US129 from rockbottom golf... landed in Australia (about $AU100 cheaper than any golf shop)

What a fantastic driver!! Just bought this today and was impressed with the club in the shop. When I took it out to the driving range I was gobsmacked at how far and straight my shots were. Never have I gone over the 150 metre mark with a driver before. I took a mens light flex and shortened it 1 inch. It's just perfect for me. VERY recommendable!

I previously had the Nike Ignite 460 and just purchased the Big Ben C-S3 and could not be happier. My drives were much straighter and10-20 yards longer. even misses were still in play. I took my Nike back to the driving range just to see if I was just having a good day, but nooooo.... I the Hogan driver was far better for myself. I had a small fade with the Nike, but I am now hitting them long and straight with the Big Ben. Highly recommend!
