I work at a Country Club and lots of golfers leave behind golf balls in carts so I now exclusively play the Pro V1*. I used to play the regular Pro V1 but for some reason I like these better. I don't have an overly powerful swing (pitching wedge only 125 yards) but these still seem to stop on a dime. They feel much softer than the original Pro v's. The stars are supposed to have less spin but they still play great even with my slower swing speed. Overall just a great ball that will vastly help your game.

Great Balls, I began playing these 2 weeks ago and love them. They have everything, Spin, Feel, Distance, Durability. I really prefer these to the normal Pro V's because of the distance they have. Go out and buy these!!

Simple review: Have played Precept Tour Premium LS for some time. Though nothing beats the feel and spin on and around the greens for this ball, the Pro V1 is an absolute rocket off the tee. The V1* corrects for the typical high flight off of the irons which is a vast improvement over the original. The one downside is softness around the greens. It will take some trial and play to judge how it will react under certain conditions if you're used to a high spin ball. Otherwise, it's a fantastic tool to conquer longer courses.

A friend convinced me to put my Strata's away, and use the Pro V1* for a few rounds. He said I would learn to appreciate it, and he was right. I had read reviews of the Pro V1* that said it didn't bite or check well for short game purposes. I would have to disagree with that. Not only does the ball have a good feel, I've found that the Pro V1* can be made to sit quite easily, and even reel back on occasion. On approach shots it typically just drops softly, and dies within a couple of feet in front or back of the pitch mark. Off of the driver it has shown itself to be long and straight with an excellent feel. Tee shots have been the only place I have noticed that it's lived up to the "low spin" billing. I haven't been a Titleist user since they quit making the DT 100. The Pro V1* has brought me back.

I'll start out by saying that this is a fine golf ball...if you're looking for a ball with the Star's designed characteristics. This is a ball that spins and bites well inside of 170 yards (the Star's flight characteristics are almost identical to the Pro V1 inside of 125 yards), yet holds its line well with the long irons and driver due to its designed reduced spin and lower trajectory. In both cases, the Star holds true to Titleist's advertising. These characteristics make the Star a very predictable ball to play in windy conditions. My home course is in a valley that usually has a moderately strong prevailing wind. I switched to the Star this summer for its consistent wind play, and have kept it as my current ball of choice. I still have Pro V1's in my bag...I'm just currently enamored with the Star. For short game purposes, the Star is somewhat neutral. It is a decent putting ball, and I have found it very consistent with chips and pitches. The Star can be a bit on the "dynamic" side out of fluffy lies, so you have to be careful when choosing to hit little stingers.

This is even better than the Pro V1 in terms of launch and carry. I can get this ball much higher in the air, and with a lot more spin off the tee that will get me a little more distance. I have a slightly faster swing speed than most (although my coach is telling me to slow it down to get a little more control) and this ball matches up very nicely with my swing off the tee, but falls somewhat short on the fairway with my long- and mid-irons. Sticks great around the green, and are very responsive with my wedges. Putts true, and doesn't 'stick' to the putter face like some other soft cover balls. Cover is the same as the Pro V1, and is very durable and long lasting.

Added an additional 10 yards of carry with my iron shots. Fairway wood shots go staright to the target eliminated the last second tail to the right or left on most shots. Approach shots from 60 yards out into hard greens don't hold the greens. Great roll and feel on the greens.

I used the Titleist HP Distance for a number of years until it was discontinued and I had to find another ball. I tried the Pro V1, but I found my iron distances varied a lot depending on how high on the clubface I hit the ball and how much grass was between the clubface and the ball. Also, I found that the ball felt sticky when playing pitches and chips. It felt very good on full shots, but distance control was a problem. When I tried the Pro V1*, I loved it. It feels great on full shots and has just the right combination of firmness and feel for putting and chipping. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't like to give up too much distance to get decent feel. This ball is everything I hoped the Pro V1 would be.
