TP Red and Black
I shot 79 Today with the TP Red. This happens about once or twice a year, in the last two years every round I've broken 80 with has been one of these two models. I've gained distance (now I drive close to 300 yards most of the time, as opposed to 270-280) and find that the spin and ball flight are more consistent than any other high end ball I've tried. (with an amateur swing anyway) Putting feels good and the ball checks up nicely and consistently with my wedges. I've played both Pro V models and the Bridgestone stuff, but these balls seem to work best with my swing.

TaylorMade Penta Golf Ball
The new Penta balls are great at first play...but they easily get scuffed up and their flight pattern is altered after that happens. They actually went farther than my usual Pro V1 balls so I was excited to have that extra 10 yards of distance. But after too many of them got scuffed and "flakey" I have chosen not to purchase any more of them. Customer Service It would be nice to get my money back for the two dozen balls sitting in my locker at the club. Similar Products Used: Titleis Pro V1, Callaway Z, Nike Platinum |

Tp Red and Tp Black
Having a faster swing speed(115+), I figured that these balls would NOT give me any extra distance. I was wrong. Completely. My average drive is around the 305-310 range, and with both the Black and the Red, my distance range increased to 310-315. The feel of both balls suits me much better. It isn't soft and mushy, and it isn't hard and clicky. It's in between. I also gained half a club with irons and wedges. Off the putter, the ball felt softer like the Pro V1x. Workability became even easier, even though I am a scratch golfer, the Tp balls were actually easier to control when it came to altering height. With my former Pro v1x, a spinner knock-down would balloon quite badly. With the Tp balls, the spinner knock-down is flat and still manages to spin back anywhere betwen 5-15 feet. Great ball. Try it. TP Red LDP
My old balls were the Nike ONE Plat and Callaway HX 56 Tour which I thought were great but as those are now discontinued I needed to find a new ball, and think I found it with the TP Red.

TP Black
I've been playing the TP Black for about 2 seasons now and I can't say enough good things about the ball. It's long, I like the feel and it spins like crazy with a good iron shot. I spun one back about 5 feet last week with a solid 9 iron. Unlike some, I have had no problem with durability and managed to play 20 plus holes with the same ball, before deciding to retire the ball to by shag bag. It plays well with scuffs on it, so when it has a little scuff, I still keep it in play. I do draw the line at cart path scuffs though. Before this ball I played the Callaway HX hot when I wanted a long hard ball and the Nike One Black for my regular ball. To me the TP BLack has the same feel off all clubs as the Nike One Black, but I think the TP wins in the distance category. The TP also feels great off the putter. The TP Black also feels very similar to the new Nike Tour D, which is a nice ball as well. The only draw back to the TP as with all premium balls is the price when not on sale. Taylor Made TP red
I made the change to TP red recently. It all started with the 2 for $55 deal. I figured I could not go wrong with a premium ball at that price. I chose the red because my driver can be a little sporatic (spraying left and right)and I hoped the reduced spin rate might help that. It sure did. IF I miss a fairway now it is by a few feet not 15-20 yards. I produce enough spin with my irons that the reduced spin is not an issue with the approach. I know the black is suppose to be a little longer, but the other day I played a course that I use to play 4X a week and everyone of my drives was a new longest drive for that individual hole. Just like the ProVs, durability is an issue with these balls as it was with balata. A pure iron shot will produce the cheese grater effect almost every time. Lucky or unlucky for me, I don't play often enough for this to hurt my pocket book. If I were playing everyday I would probably choose a more durable ball. |

Talormade TP Black
I wanted to purchase this ball for 2 reasons: it is supposed to be a high-quality golf ball and you can find 2 dozen for $55 at many places, AND if you order on some sites, you can select a custom number for your golf ball, which is pretty cool.

TP Black
Just bought two boxes of TP black golf balls and I have to admit, I did not care for them. I am a 8 handicap and for some reason this ball ballooned on me more then any ball I have played. Lost at least 10 yards and probably more. I know a lot of people like them, so for the price they are worth a try, but I'm heading back to the ProV1x. |
