Nothing Special. I found that I hit this ball a little shorter than I hit the ProV1 and it didn't give me as much feel. For a Tour ball, I would recommend Titleist, Nike, or Hogan over this one.

This is probably the best ball I've ever tried. I never play Titleist because everybody else does, so can't compare to it, but as far as jump off the driver, accuracy, feel, spin, all the important factors, this is one awesome ball. The only problem I have with it is that I find it scuffs really easily. It may not affect ball flight much, but it will impact spin. I find I go through at least a sleeve of these balls a round - the last time I did that was when I was losing balls.

I've played almost every Callaway golf ball made, not to mention most of the ones from the better manufacturers, and this ball is by far the best ball I've ever hit. I've played Pro V1s and V1Xs, and the HX Tour is better than both in my opinion, and here's why. It has every bit the feel, spin and control that the Pro V1 has, but just jumps off the face of the driver without the required he-man swing speed of the V1X. It's essentially the best of both Titleist balls and in a class by itself. Now, if you're like me and have played Callaway balls in the past, then you owe it to your game to try these.

Many other reviews point out that these balls scuff easily. I've found that they will scuff but it takes a lot of whacks and even then it doesn't seem to adversely affect the performance.

Regarding price, a box cost $34.99 at Golf Galaxy. Not too bad in my book for what I've experienced so far.

Model Reviewed: HX Tour improved

This review is for the improved HX Tour golf ball.
The ball was very long off the tee, and had great feel and control around the green. If you took the logos off this ball and a ProV1 I guarantee you that you couldn't tell the differance. The HX Tour actually felt a little better. I hit the 56 further off the tee but prefer this around the greens. Great golf ball. Would give the ProV's a run for their money if people would give them a try. Durability was suprisingly good! Played each nine with one ball, with minimal wear. None of the wear affected the ball flight or controlability of the golf ball.

Great distance!! Extremely stable in the wind, really holds its line!! Still good spin, enough to land and bite!! Very durable!! Great feel for a "harder ball"!! Ball of choice for windy days and not bad for calm days! Definately worth a shot for any level golfer. A better ball will help your score!

I just recently switched from the ProV1X to the Callaway HX Tour, and I like it a lot so far. It is a little firmer than the ProV, but I think it's a little longer.
I'm anxious to get some consistent spring weather so I can make a better comparison. I'm also considering trying the HX 56 too. I've played Titleist for decades, but I like to experiment. The HX Tour is a pretty good ball, and may play it's way into the bag permanently

Model Reviewed: HX Tour (improved)

I have been using the HX Tour for the last 2-years and have always thought that there wasn't an iota difference from the Titleist Pro V1, except for less cost. The most common complaint about the HX Tour is that the cover scuffs too easily. It scuffs easy, because it is thin, very thin! The "improved" ball is much better for durability, without sacrificing anything to get there. My favorite feature is that it holds its flight very well in windy conditions and it checks up nice out of sand. I think that the Pro V is a great ball and is probably a litle longer off the tee.

The "improved" HX Tour is a better buy than Titleist, and now has better durability.

Model Reviewed: Callaway HX Tour Black

I have made the transition from the ProV1 to the HX Black and I won't be going back! This ball is magic, with a strong penetrating flight and plenty of spin. I consistently hit this longer and more accurately than the ProV1. HOWEVER, there is little but preference between them as there are pro's and con's which trade off between them. 1. The ProV1 surlyn cover lasts a lot longer than the HX Tour's does. The HX is prone to cutting from heavy wedge shots. 2. The HX Tour provides me with more feel than the ProV1 and a straighter flight. What works for me might not work for others, but I get a cracking amount of spin around the greens from the HX Tour ball which I struggle to get from the Titleist.

Switched from Titleist ProvX to this ball about a month ago. This is a fantastic golf ball. I got sick of paying for the Titkeist brand and decided to give these a try. The flight on these is very penetrating with the perfect amount of spin. If you play in windy conditions this ball is unmatched. They have just the right amount of spin for me. Highly recomend giving these a shot.

Model Reviewed: Callaway HX Tour

Callaway's debut of a true tour ball is...mediocre. I am glad to hear that they're out with a newer model -- the HX Tour 56, which I tried the other day. The 56 is a vast improvement and I would recommend it to those who have a good short game. The original HX Tour, however, is slightly disappointing. It is too hard compared with other premium balls out there. It's almost as if Callaway's money problems forced them to reduce the amount of urethane on the outer cover and instead increase the amount of hard gunk that makes the core. The result is a ball that can go 300 yards, but can't hold anything within 90. If I really wanted this problem, I would just go buy Pinnacles at a fraction of the cost. Also, the sound of the orginial HX Tour bothers me as well. It sounds "thin" and hollow, much like the older Top Flite balls. I guess they took over Top Flite and decided to keep the cheap sound for some reason. Callaway should also stop promoting the HX aerodynamics technology. I have yet to meet a person who can tell the difference between the ball flight of a round dimpled ball and hexagonocrap dimpled ball. I would never buy the HX Tour for $40 a dozen...or at least this incarnation of it.
