A ball the market should not miss, acceptable was a winter ball as it is soft, but once the temp rises above 45-50 it flys nowhere for me.

I was in search for a ball I could call my own last summer. I tried just about every ball I could find including, NXT/Tours, ProV1/X, HX Tour, and Nike One (plus a few others I found on the course). I saw the Hawks on the shelf at Academy and decided to give them a try mainly because I've been impressed with Ben Hogan quality in their other products. I'm not a great golfer but shoot consistantly in the mid 80's occasionally falling into the low 90's on a bad day. I gave each ball a good try playing a few rounds with all but I kept coming back to the Hawk. The BH Hawk matches my swing speed and style of play perfectly. I hit them farther off the tee and can sometimes back it up on the green with a solid strike of my short irons. (I play BH Edge Pro irons and a Callaway X Tour driver.) The Hawks feel a little harder off the tee than the other tour balls and there is a little "click" when putting. However, that firm feel yields more confidence on the green and I tend to put more consistently. They are very durable and clean up nicely. I love the ProV1s but they are way too expensive for my budget. In reality, I'd rather play with the Hawks anyway, regardless of price.

I used to hit the MC Lady - I do not have a fast swing and I got better distance and control with a softer ball. Then, I saw The Hawks on sale at Golfsmith for $14.99/doz and bought a box.

I love this ball. I get decent distance and it feels really good around the greens. The cover is urethane, thin and soft. The cover feels a bit firmer than say an HX Tour/Tour56 but still spins well. In warm weather, it feels very soft around the greens. I also like the way it feels when putting.

This was my first 3 piece ball in regular use and I will continue to buy them for the time being.

I love this ball. I got bored with the Pro V1 and wanted a change. This ball certainly suits me in all areas of my game without exception. I can work it, it goes long with the driver and it stops when I want it to. I recently drover a 306 metre par 4 (sorry yanks - don't know what that is in yards) so despite what I have read about it's low compression it certainly goes well off the tee - and the price is right too. You can't go wrong with this ball.

I bought this ball along with the Tour Deeps for comparison against my tradional 2 favorites, the Pro V1 and Nike Powersoft; (see my Tour Deep review under that ball); given the high reviews of the improved version of The Hawk, I was surprised.....to see how uninspiring it was. It felt much harder than the 75 compression would suggest, and the elastomer cover doesn't feel or play responsive. Distance off all the clubs was fine, but not noteworthy.
For me, a ball has to "outperform" others, at least in one or more areas, to really have something to offer.
This ball has nothing to offer, IMHO; I'd play the Wilson PX3 long before this one, for example.
The Hawk is an okay ball, but there are plenty that are much, much better.

I asked a question about their compression ratings; they told me they don't publish their compression. I asked them, "Then why are your compression ratings listed on your website then?" No answer...........

I have played this ball for about 3 months now and find it to be very consistent. It's got above average distance on the woods, but perfect yardage on the irons. They hit the greens like yard darts and a few will even back up for you. At $25 a dozen, it performs better than most balls twice its price. It also holds up very well; doesn't scuff easily or yellow. I would say this ball is good for handicappers from 0-30. A friend of mine who is a scratch golfer traded in his Calloway HX's to play these.

There's the old story of different race horses for different race tracks.

I have played everything that is out there and was playing the Strata Tour Ace and the HX Tour for the last year.

The Hogan Hawk with a compression between 70-72 is quite soft off the club face and the diatnce is as good as any other.

A ball is such a personal thing in that you find what works best for you.

I have done the whole Titleist tour van launch monitor system and to be frank, just the feel off the Hawk had me sold, oddly enough that was the ball that worke4d best for me with less pin of the big stick.

If you want a soft feeling ball that has a nice capacity to stick then this might be right for you.

It's a quality product any way that you look at it.

If you are accustomed to playing a much harder distance ball, you might wonder where the al dente went....

The noodle is most certainly cooked.

Cheers!

I found these balls at a golf shop while on vacation. I liked them because they were available at a good price and I heard some people talking about them.... so I bought a dozen. I recently played a practice round for a weekend tournament and shot my first round in the 60's. The next day I finished one place out of the money in the tournament with some great golfers.... all while playing the Hawk. I was surprised with the spin, but I have played almost every ball that's out there and I don't know if I have been able to spin and control a ball like this one. Maybe it's just the right combination of club, ball, and speed.... either way, I'm a believer in the Hawk now.

I am really enjoying this ball. I think it is very well rounded. I am not going to claim that it gives me X amount of extra yards, but I will say that i seem to find myself keeping this ball in play more often than others. It's not badly priced either at $20 usually at Academy.
