In trying to get my scores down, I have really focused on my short game. I've tried all kinds of wedges. Up until recently, I was playing Vokey wedges. The Vokey wedges replaced the Cleveland wedges, which did nothing for me. Looking for a softer feel, I tried the Mizuno MP series wedges. Beyond any doubt these wedges are the best for me. First, they truly have a softer, yet solid feel to them. This helps with the distance control. Second, the way the sole is designed I don't tend to catch the grass as much so I have a lot more confidence. Third, the wedges feel lighter than the Vokey wedges, so I have more control over what the club head is doing. I have the 54 and 58 degrees wedges. The 58 degree is fine for even the shortest of shots. I have much more control than I had with the Vokey 60 degree wedge. I like 54 degree wedge because I can get good distance from the fairway compared to the 'standard' 56 degree sand wedge. Both clubs work well out of the sand. The 58 degree wedge with a 10 degree bounce gets the ball up nicely around the green. It hits high, soft shots with a lot of spin. Probably the most important area for me is hitting little pitch shots around the green. This is where these wedges really excel. I use the 54 degree wedge for about 90% of these shots. It has such a nice feel that it makes gauging the distance much easier than the Vokey. The 58 degree wedge is used mostly for situations calling for a quick stop with little green to run the ball on. I'm not looking for wedges anymore. I know you don't hear too much about Mizuno wedges, but you will be surprised just how great they are. 52.07 Gap; 58.10 S/L chrome & RAW OX
The 58.10 S/L is incredibly versatile. I find getting out of the bunker, regardless of lie, a cinch and the touch around the greens is fantastic. The 52.07 gap works well off tight lies and is nice for chipping. I own Mizuno MX-20 irons and the feel with these wedges are very consistent with those irons. In fact, the MX-20 PW loft is 46*, so the gap wedge fits perfectly distance wise. I used to use a four wedge system but found it too complicated (ie, spent more time figuring out whether to use a sand or lob wedge on any particular shot), and hence, for the level of my game (low 20s HC) using the combo S/L gets me to focus on learning more shots with the same club. I recently lost my 52* gap chrome wedge and so decided to fork out the bucks to try the new RAW Oxide wedges (same 52/58 combo). I took them out yesterdauy for the first time and found great consistency with the chrome version, however, touch seemed more precise with these new clubs. Once reason may be that I got these new wedges gripped with Pelz untapered short game grips which allow you to easily grip down with the same feel as full swing (actually gives you much more control over the delicate pitch shots). One other note, the MP wedges seem to have slightly larger heads than the Clevelands, Nike and other premium wedges. As a result (because I have tried the others) I find these wedges the most forgiving. Customer Service Haven't used Similar Products Used: Cleveland 900 gunmetal; Nike Forged RAW |

Mizuno mp 56 & 60 wedges
I was looking for a better wedge--have used Cleveland 56 & Lynx 60 degree wedges for 5-7 years---purchased a Mizuno reg.shaft 56-10 and 60-9 in June of 2002--I played over 20 rounds with them and I didn't like the feel and or in-consistant distance these provided me--after a while they lost my confidence in them and I went out and got the New ping mb wedges--these I love--so it's E-Bay land to these Mizuno wedges--they ought to stick to just making forged irons and leave the wedges to somebody else. Customer Service Superb service from Bobick's golf in Lima, Ohio and Mizuno--By the way I play with a mixed set of Mizuno mp-30's 4-5-6-7 and mp33's in 89-pw---So i am a Mizuno lover. Mizuno Wedge MP series, 54 & 58
These are great wedges. They are extremely soft. Awesome feel on chip shots. I would say the closest rival would be Vokey because the Cleveland wedges are not as soft. Having said that, low bounce Mizuno MP series wedges are not available as much as I know. Customer Service Don't know, never had problems with them. Similar Products Used: Vokey |

These wedges are so freakin' good it ain't even freakin' funny. I just love the color of the steel and how it says Mizuno on it. I also like how they write the loft on the sole instead of the name (GW, SW, LW). They're so cool Customer Service None Similar Products Used: Everything that's made |

These are the best wedges out there right now. These wedges go smoothly with my mp-33 set and they have given me constant feel throughout my bag. After i fell in love with my 56 sand wedge, i went and bought the 60 lob. There is no other feeling that can replace the true sensation of hitting hitting and stopping the ball few inches from the pin with these babies. Give it a try and hope you like it also! |

These are great, great wedges. I first bought the 56 degree because it had superior feel and looks to anything else I tried (Vokey, Cleveland etc.) I loved that club so much I went out and got the 52 degree gap wedge also. The low bounce works great for my game and these wedges look great at address, not to mention that they feel like absolute buttah!!!! |
