By far best wedge on market. Has all the advantages a good wedge should have. The only downside to this wedge is that it lacks distance. Great control, but not much distance. Everything else about the wedge is great. Good investment for golfers who want to improve their shortgames. Similar Products Used: Ping Eye 2 |

The 53-degree wedge technically is a gap wedge, though I find it to be very effective from the sand and the stronger loft is a plus. I have tried Walter Hagen and RAM L wedges and, while quite good, the 588 LW is the closest thing to magic I've played. This club works really well for me. I am able to pretty much pick and place the ball anywhere on the green I can, given that I judge the distance correctly. The only problem with this club is that the crome has fallen off of it. Even then, it still performs well. Being a little superstitious, I am afraid to get it fixed as it might mess up my game. I recently bought another one for $50 at a going out of business sale just as a back up if I ever come to my senses. I only give it four birdies just because for the money spent on this club, or any club for that matter, the crome should never fall off. Overall a good feeling club. This is a great all purpose club. Unlike other wedges it has a thin leading edge for crisp shots from even the hardest fairways. It is versatile for all situations and can be easily opened to accomodate lob shots. It is definitely a club you want to have in your short game arsenal, especially for under $100. This is the best wedge I've tried in my entire golf life! Tried a lot of wedges before discarding my 15-year-old sandwedge in favor for this fantastic wedge (sandwedge 56 degrees loft). Unsurpassed feel on the short swings and gives really good spin on the ball to let it bite on the green. Great also for those small delicate lobs over a greenside bunker! First time I hit it, I left the ball 3 foot from the pin for an easy birdie. There's not a better wedge out there and I will finally put my old wedge away. No wonder at all why they're the most popular wedge on tour. Balance and feel are excellent. Wedges play well in variety of lies. Predictable, repeatable distances. Best I have played and the last brand I will ever try. Similar Products Used: Ram Tour Grind, Ram Tom Watson Signature, Titleist Vokey |

Cleveland is right when they say this wedge is best for soft sand and fairway conditions. I'm sure some of it is me, but I found the club's 14 degree bounce made it difficult to use in anything other than soft conditions. A lot of pros carry this wedge, but very few carry it who don't also use a low bounce lob wedge. Better golfers than me may disagree; this is a great wedge but it is not versatile enough to be your only wedge unless you're blessed with lush fairways and fluffy sand. Cleveland's RTG wedges fetch a premium price even in the used club market, so be sure before you buy. Similar Products Used: None |
