I just recently joined a country club and noticed quite a few golfers had a 8802. Anyway, my point is, I bought a 8802 also. Let me tell you, there is no better feeling in golf then hitting the 8802 in the center with a balata ball. If you are off-center though, the ball will be off-line and short. There is not much room for error. I have had a Ping in the past and while the ping is more forgiving, there is no comparison in feel. Well my insight is stated as, buy this putter if you a good, make that a very good putter, otherwise there are a lot of other putters out there for you. Customer Service Do not know... This putter is great for feel. You will know when you hit it off center. I'm a poor putter and i have tried so many putter, but this one makes me work on rythym and that equals better putts. The jury is still out on this one for me. Similar Products Used: Tear Drop (RFT) great, Ping Ally |

The first time I saw this putter, I made a number of putts on the carpet of the shop. I left that day without the putter because I could not justify the price at the time. Similar Products Used: None |

This is a great putter. I loved it from the moment I saw it, but at the time I was 15, and it was too expensive. But I saved my money and bought it about a year later, I've had it ever since. I have a closet full of putters, but I hardly ever use anything but the 8802. It is definately not a club made for bad putters. I am a good putter and always have been. This putter will let you know as soon as you've hit it wether of not the putt is going in. It has incredible feel. My putting stroke has always been a bit loopy, a la crenshaw, but it works well with this club. The 8802 lets you know if you've made a bad stroke. It has no special weighting or inserts, so if you miss the sweetspot, it will turn in your hands. I've tried many of the new putters out there, and they are all designed to fool you into thinking that you've made a good stroke. All in all a classic. Generations of great putters can't be wrong. Needs a good setup and swing, that's for sure. Will not disguise off-center hits, excellent learning and improvement tool. Feel and feedback is amazing, sweetspot exact but small. Change the grip to a Lamkin Cord for alignment. Similar Products Used: Ping Answer |

Since the mid 60's, the 8802 has been a favorite of many great players, but for me (an average putter) it is harder to handle than the Odysseys, Pings, etc... The sweet spot is much smaller, it is not heel/toe weighted, and there are no alignment lines whatsoever. A couple of other niggling problems that I have noticed are that the putter is made out of soft steel so that I am getting quite a few nicks. And putter covers slip off far too easily compared to the "anser" style square headed putters. Overall, I would rate the 8802 as a great putter for players with a smooth, refined stroke. But, for the average guy/gal, there are more forgiving putters on the market these days. Similar Products Used: Ping(s), Odyssey(s), Taylor Made, Titleist, Zebra, Prairie Golf, etc...... |
