Fat Shaft II - steel shafts
Took delivery last week and after two trips to the range over the weekend I'm really happy. Got rid of my Firesole's because I was hitting the ball too high and losing distance right through the set. The Fat Shafts have cured this. I've gone from max 155 yds to 170 yds at 6 iron with I reckon a 15-20% lower trajectory. Have increased PW from 100yds to 120 yds. I'm finding them stable and very easy to hit right from the first ball. Great feel on centred hits (95%+). The off centre hits are still making good yardage and tend to be pushed right. No bad vibration problems with mis-hits which I understand was an issue with the original Fat Shafts. Clubs are beautifully finished with nice tacky grips. Bear in mind that the distances I've stated above are with range balls so if you buy these irons be prepared to re-evaluate your distance per club. They are long !! Can't wait to get them on course next weekend ! Great job Wilson. Customer Service Not needed yet but UK buyers please note that there are now no serial numbers on the shaft band, so you cannot register them on Wilson's website (I checked this out with Wilson UK). These clubs are absolute garbage, the fat shaft is overrated, it's was to bulky and heavy. The heads are also way too heavy and clunky, just like Callaways. I am a decent ball striker, not the best, but pretty consistent and I had so many problems getting the ball in the air with these clubs. I actually hit a Titleist Tour Model blade better than these, and I don't usually hit tour blades. If you shoot in the mid 80's to low 90's, stay away from these clubs, try the Ben Hogan Apex Plus or Edge, they have a great forged feel with plenty of forgiveness and a light weight. If you like the heavy, clunky head irons I guess these are for you. Not my idea of a good club. Similar Products Used: None |

Longer and straighter! Well,,,,the lesson I received when I bought the clubs may have contributed to the previously mentioned attributes of the club(s), but none the less I couldn't be happier with them. They feel very good when the ball is struck well. I snuck in 5 quick holes on my military instalation before work and had 4 par's and one bogey. I'm looking forward to going back out very soon Customer Service None Similar Products Used: Crap.......Dunlop, Firesoles, Golden bears. |
