Wilson Fat Shaft III Set Irons

Wilson Fat Shaft III Set Irons

DESCRIPTION

Wilson Fat Shaft Irons have been acknowledged by many to be the ultimate game-improvement irons on the market. With today’s introduction of a new Fat Shaft Iron Set, Wilson has taken another step in helping golfers gain confidence with even the game’s toughest shots. While the new set is equipped with the signature wider tip diameter (.500”) for greater torsional stability (less twisting) on off-center hits, Wilson has introduced two hybrid clubs (to replace traditional #3 and #4 irons) that will make hitting difficult long-iron shots a little easier for the mid-to-high handicap golfer. The new Wilson Fat Shaft Irons feature a large, oversize face that creates a large sweetspot for maximum forgiveness, and the weight in the clubhead is redistributed to the perimeter to generate greater stability. The overall weight distribution lowers the center of gravity to enhance the sweetspot and optimize ball flight. Progressive offset and sole width add to the club’s high forgiveness rate.

I am fifteen and i hate hitting 3/4 irons so i took a look at these beasts and they are the best. The three "iron" goes about 200 and the 4 "iron" about 175. instead of an uncontrolled slice i got a very managble draw. 5-pw are about your average top of the line irons. i would suggest getting a wedge with these pw is hard to hit around the green.

This is the first set of clubs I have ever spent any real amount of money on (I bought the Deep Red II Driver also.) I love these clubs. I have never been able to get a handle on my game before because it was always so inconsistent. Now I know how far and where the ball is going 95% of the time.

I have been playing golf for about four years, I've always used knock off golf clubs. So moving up to the new Wilson Fat Shaft was a huge deal to me. I remember the first day I played golf with the Fat Shafts. I was amazed I hit the ball straight and longer then I have ever hit in my life. I recomend these clubs to people who could use some help with acccuracy, and distance.

Bought these to make up for some "bad" clubs in my old set. (3,6,7) I have only taken them to the range, but so far I have made some observations. Then 3 and 4 irons/woods are the best that I have hit. Short iron are, for lack of a better term harsh. I hope it was because it was in the 40s and the wind was blowing across at about 25mph. I hit some very solid shots only to see them drift/hook about 25 yards left. (I think that was the wind as I have been a Deep Red fan for several years and only hit it straight.) These are good irons for beginners and more advanced players who are having trouble hitting long irons.

I've only played a few rounds with these clubs, but so far they seem to perform about average. The reason I bought them was because I was looking for a few more yards out of some clubs, thinking I might mix the hybred irons with my current set. I haven't noticed any significant increase in distance with the normal irons but the tempurature I've been playing in has been about 50 degrees so that could be a factor. I've heard that the fat shafts don't have very good feel but they seem to have enough to tell the difference between a well struck shot and a shot not hit center. The hybred irons add distance but I don't see how they can really be considered irons (more like small woods). All in all for the price these clubs are a good deal. I would recomend them to mid to high handicappers.

These irons are extremely forgiving but I had problems with some shots flying 10-15 yards long. The most frustrating part was that they came on some of my best swings. Also, the shafts were too flexible and gave the irons a bad case of "toe down effect". They had to go.
