Very happy with these. I currently have DCI 762's and the 704.CB's. From address, they're very similar. The 704's are more forgiving and slightly softer feeling to me. I've played a few sets of forged carbon blades and "player" cavities, but I prefer the durability of stainless steel.

I don't find them short at all, but right on the money. Some clubs have stronger lofts through the set which can flatter the hacker, but then you end up needing an extra wedge anyway. What's the point?

Anyway, couldn't be happier. Dynamic Gold shafts are a good fit with these.

I've had a set of these for about 3 years now and have read with interest what other people have said about them on this site.

I can't take too much notice of reviewers who shoot in the 90's telling everyone that they are a very unforgiving club and feel 'harsh' at impact. My answer to those comments would be, what ball are you using and how many times do you hit the centre of the clubface? I'm sure that other sets would be more suited to your game, don't buy them just because they look good.

My view on these irons is that if you are playing off of single figures and want a good all round club then these will be fine for you. They have more forgivness that blades but because thet are not forged from carbon steel have less feel in the heads, however this is what you should be researching prior to buying. I have had no trouble shaping the ball with these irons and strikes from the middle of the clubface are very soft, there is also an element of forgivness on mis hits but not what you would get from a set of full cavity backs. Some reviewers have stated a problem with loss of distance but again, I can't agree with this, you have to remember that some clubs will be stronger lofted than these.

All in all I think these irons are a great set, you can still pick them up new if you shop around and there are loads of second hand sets available.

I'm not a great golfer. When keeping honest score I typically shoot in the 80/90 range. But I've only been playing for a year. My old set of clubs was an inherited set of late 70s oversize cast Pinnacle cavity-backs. When I was searching for new clubs I looked at the Taylormade LT's, OS's, and the Titleist 704's and 804's. I picked the 704's because:

1. They are forged, and I thought having a forged club could give me better feedback-- thus helping me improve my swing.
2. They are midsize, as opposed to oversize. I opted for the smaller heads, again, because I'm looking to improve my game.
3. I got a great deal on these, brand new, on ebay. (Plus, I'm 6'5, and the guy I bought them from adjusted them upright 3 degrees and lengthened them an inch for free.)
4. I saw that about 10-15 of the guys on tour actually use these irons

I opted for the standard True Temper S300 shafts, which I've been happy with.

These clubs have been great. They have forced me to improve my swing and even helped me learn how to fade and draw the ball. My game has changed a lot in the last 6 months, and I think these clubs still have a lot of mileage left for me before I can feel comfortable getting some muscle-backs. I think they are a great club for many golfers with a wide range of experience.

They give the same distance and accuracy of typical cast cavity-backs, but they have more feel. When I hit them pure I feel less like a hacker and more like an actual player.

HARSH HARSH HARSH!!! These clubs are extremely hard and unforgiving. You would think that being a forging it would play a bit softer than this, but it definitely does NOT. Even on center strikes the club feels harder than some castings I've played. But, on off-center hits, you can kiss your fillings goodbye. I wouldn't play these clubs if someone gave them to me. Granted I'm not a scratch golfer, but I can hit the button a fair enough times. When done with these, they certainly don't feel very nice.

What a great club set. I used to play Mizuno MX-17, 23 and MP-33 (Look at the progress of my game ) and also tried Ping G2 and Callaway X-18 when I was just starting. I admit the other clubs were great too, but I came to a point when I cannot feel feedback of the GI irons (Game Improvement) anymore, you really need to shank the ball to feel that you really hit a bad shot. With the 704s, even the straight shots I made (bad trajectory, wrong distance) I knew that I hit a bad one. Great feel and feedback. About the distance and trajectory, there isn't much of a huge difference with the other clubs I tried ( except for the MP-33s which are about 5 yards longer) but I am getting the right amount of spin that I wanted whenever I hit it right ( ball position adjust, etc).
These clubs help me swing better because of the feedback, you will be forced to swing better to get the sweet feel all the time. But dont get me wrong, bad hits are not that bad, with a medium size head it's still good unless your swing is really bad.
These irons fit low handicap players with reapeatable swing, but if you wanted to groove your swing better, it's worth trying these irons. A good combination of forgiveness and feel.

Decent club. Feels great on well struck balls, gives you feedback on poorly struck balls. I think they are a little on the harsh side though. I had these with the s300 shafts. They had a nice heavy weight to them, something I enjoyed after playing s59s, which were on the light side.

I did sell them because these clubs were just not for me. I tend to hit a high ball and these just exaggerated that. Mid to long irons would balloon in the wind, and I would lose a lot of distance with the short irons compared to the s59. I am now playing the MP-32, which everone says is high hitting club, but so far I have not had any problems, because the trajectory still flattens out, although on the high side.

So if you are a good ball striker and need some height, I think these would be a good club for you. Overall, I think the s59 was the best trajectory, but I did not care for their feel.

Good price for forged clubs on Ebay - about 300 or so.

These forged cavity-back blades are solid. A golfer with a repeatable swing who's focus is more on shot shaping and distance control will benefit from these clubs. But if you are looking for optimal distance and forgiveness, these clubs will do you no good. However I cannot say that the distances ont he clubs a short. I mean if you wanna compare these to say, the R7 cgb, well, the R7's are probably close to a club longer and are considerably easier to hit out of good lies. BUT, the 704 is a player's iron. If you are serious about your game, try these out, they are not that expensive now.

These clubs look good at setup and feel good too. I hit them straight. Why 3 out of 5 then? because they are short, short, SHORT!! At least a club (perhaps 2 clubs) shorter than most other irons....even when hit on the "sweet spot".....If you don't worry at all about distance then you might consider them. Otherwise I recommend looking elsewhere. If you play in the wind, forget about these irons as they balloon straight up and go nowhere.....Did I say they were short?

Customer Service

First off let me say WOW. I have played blades in the past (muscleback) but recently switched to Big Bertha game improvement thinking they would be easier to get them where I wanted. Big Mistake, my feel was lost and distances were long sometimes and short others very unpredictable. Now I am using a set of 704 CB's from Titleist, the feel is back and it will never leave again. These irons are sweet and easy to hit. This is my first set of cavity back blades and the long irons are much easier to get in the air. Highly recommend these irons.

I really like these clubs, I've played lots of blade and cavity back clubs and these 704's offer the best of both worlds, good feel and good forgiveness. I don't find them flying overly high like some reviewers (I use the S300 shaft)and I get excellent spin with these. You can get these very cheap now that there are newer models out but anyone in the lower handicap bracket will enjoy these. Many Titleist pros using these still.
