I got a used set with True Temper X100 shafts. The irons are great, they look great and sharp in the setup. Not very forgiving but very playable. If you don't like big oversize heads in your irons this set is great. Customer Service Not used Similar Products Used: Callway X14, X16 Pro,Big Bertha 2004, AMF G-Speed, Ram FX, Lynx. |

If you like the feel and performance of a forged club buy these babies. They are casted but, after hitting them you will wonder, if they are really casted. Mid size is great, specially if you are going for the next level in golf or you just feel the oversized clubs too big and chunky. What can I say, they are fantastic for a better player. I was a 4 handicap, playing with 962B's which I loved, but I stopped playing for a few years and when I got back into it they were a bit much to handle. I got these on eBay for a great price and haven't looked back. With the slight offset and small clubhead size (slightly smaller than a midsize iron), but with a thicker topline, and a bit more meat than a traditional players iron, they are very pleasing to look at. They provide a great ball flight, though the long irons are a bit tough (but I guess they all are), and incredible feel when you pure it, almost like that of a forged iron. This is a great set of irons for the better player, offering a blade-like workability with a bit more forgiveness. However, they might be a bit much for a higher handicap to handle. Overall, if you have a little bit of game, you can't go wrong, especially for the prices you can find them for these days. If you can develop the feel to swing the clubhead centrifugally and have decent ball striking repeatability you can play this club. After 25 years of summertime twilight hacking(4-6 evenings a summer) with a mixed set of overlong and upright blades and assorted knockoffs, I challenged myself to learn the golf swing. Started with Comp Ezs(great clubs!) then took the next step with the 990s and have no regrets. The EZs will still let you 'hit' the ball, the 990s make you 'swing the clubhead'. What game improvement irons really do is let you get away with 'hitting with a stick' instead of 'swinging the clubhead'. Customer Service na Similar Products Used: mizuno comp ez |

Since buying these clubs in August of 2004, I've went to shooting in the mid 90's to shooting, consistently, in the mid 80's. I made my first "ace" on a 171 yard par 3 with my 6i. I, recently, posted my first sub-80 round with a 79. Shortly after my "ace", I had the lofts strengthened, on 3i-PW, by 1 degree, to gain a little distance. It worked exactly how I had hoped. My 3i and 4i are still a little troublesome on occasion, but as Tiger says, "I'm close". I'll be keeping these sticks for awhile. I'm tempted to invest in the 690.CB, but I may wait until the price drops a little. I like the tour-size heads. A tad smaller than mid-size, but charming to the eye at address. Once again, great sticks! |

dci 990's
I purchased the DCI 990's after having my ping I3 OS clubs stolen. I didn't play for a few months and found these for a good price on ebay. I remembered I had hit them about a year ago and liked them. I was a little concerned with so many people reviewing how difficult it was to hit these without a scratch player type swing. Well right from the start I was amazed at the quality of my shot and the distance I have gained with these over my ping i3. With My ping I3's I was shooting high 80's and now I am shooting around 80 everytime out. (If only i could make a few puts) I definetly can't blame not being a consistant 70's shooter on my irons. 75% of my missed greens are over the green. I still don't always trust that I am actually going to hit these as far as I do. On the few miss hits I have had I can tell you it wasn't a pleasent feeling. You don't need to shoot in the 70's to get these clubs but you do need to have a consistant swing to really enjoy these on a regular basis Customer Service haven't used it Similar Products Used: ping i3 os calloway big birtha irons |

I've been playing LCG's for 5-6 years and found out that they do not compare with the 990's. Other than being a club shorter, only because of the strong lofted LCG's, the 990's are far superior in feel and accuracy. I would agree with some of the lower handicappers reviews, in that these clubs are not for players with loose swings. However, my handicap, although high, is a result of a lackluster mental game. When I concentrate for every shot for 18 holes, I can shoot much better. I've yet to break 80, but it is not far away. I've had a little trouble with the long irons, just when I was getting able to smoke my LCG 3i or 4i. I've played 3 rounds with these and scored 91, 90, 91...usually in the 95, 96 range. I bought these clubs because: (A) Price. Paid $300 for pw-3, brand new (3 years after introduced). Left-handed at that...what a steal. (B) I wanted to make myself improve by hitting a more demanding club. (game improvement clubs are misleading to me.) I would rather make myself work at getting better, rather than hiding swing flaws. I would recommend these clubs, no matter what your handicap, as long as you have patience, desire to improve, and a tight and solid swing. Overall, great sticks! These irons are not for everyone. If you dont hit these on the sweet spot consistently you will pay a price. I know from experience. I am from Arizona and have been a recreational golfer for 20 years. Seven years ago I was a 10 handicap, then I moved to NYC and only got the chance to golf a few times a year. I had a set of Ping Eye 2 Berillium cavity back irons for 10 years and had worn them out. I wanted to buy a new set of Pings in New York and tested them out. I did not like the ISI's. So I hit at least 10 different sets of clubs and decided to buy the 990's. At first I was disappointed, I only played 3 times in one year in NY and thought I had made a mistake buying muscle backed irons. Then I moved back to AZ and now play 2 or 3 times a week. I cant tell you how happy I am with these irons. I hit these irons very high and long (full 9 iron went from 150 w/Ping to 170 w/DCI's) Bottom line....if you dont have the time to work on your game DONT BUY THESE CLUBS. If you do you should get them fitted and HOLD ON. You're going to be smashing the ball further and higher than you ever have. Just don't miss!! |

Definately an experience with these irons. You have to have a pretty good swing or you'll regret spending the money. My local pro convinced me to buy these only after being CUSTOM FIT. I think most people would be pleasantly suprised on how much of a difference the correct lenght, flex, lie angle and grip size will make in how well you hit a club. I tried the demo in store and out on the range and almost quit golf. My pro said buy them, but pay the money for fit. I went ahead and did it and the difference is unbelievable. I shot 76 my first time out and 75 the next day. Can't wait to use them again. Customer Service Not used Similar Products Used: Zevo Fly-Ti |
